Spoiler alert. Players turn away.

We ran Fast Food a while ago, and the PCs killed the brothers. The mafia boss (father of the brothers) is pissed and has been sending waves of shadowrun teams after the PCs every now and then, whenever its most annoying (grin).

The most recent one was in downtown Seattle during morning rush hour. The PCs were leaving a morning meeting with a Johnson. They were in a taxi maybe 5 minutes out, and noticed being followed by 3 rigger-controlled vehicles. One was a van with a pop-up grenade launcher (hadn't popped up yet), the other two were rigged with explosives meant to ram the PC's taxi. Clairvoyance confirmed the danger. The PCs argued about fighting or finding more discreet alleyways (or something), but ultimately pulled the taxi over fearing being rammed right there. Two PCs started the fight directly. One PC with gun fire, another with sword (STR 10 troll adept with weapon focus katana) to van's tires, while other PCs ran into the alley between storefronts.

Since they started it, enemy grenade launcher popped up and started firing. PC mage called out his big Force 12 bound spirit and blew up one car. The other car rammed the alley where some PCs were hiding and exploded. Troll lops off vehicle-mounted grenade launcher. It all happened in about 4 action phases, across 2 combat turns. So 6 seconds. But, all in public and in daylight. However, 3 of the 4 PCs had physical mask going the entire time - so there's that at least.

The game night ended with PCs rushing to pop on a spare tire, disarm the van's rigged explosives on the doors/windows, get into van (steal), PC Mage casting Trid Phantasm to make the van look different, etc. PCs are trying to stick around to have the decker hack/edit any digital trideo (security cameras, cybereyes with cameras) while the mages erase astral signatures. But from reading the rules, it seems like they can do all of that pretty quickly.

So how long do you think they have before law enforcement arrives?

If the police get their hands on original trideo, do they attempt to beat the physical masks with their own individual tests?

Even though the Force 12 spirit wasn't summoned during the fight, the fact that the mage over-summoned (his MAG is 6) and the spirit materialized in broad daylight in public makes me want to have it leave an astral fingerprint from being on the material plane. You know, such a powerful spirit being used here feels a bit overkill.

Thanks!

Runner's Companion in SR4 had security response times for different Neighbourhoods, pages 156 and 157. Luxury is <1 minute, High <3 (prosperous downtown), Middle <5.

You can also check out page 356 of the SR5 book. There is a htr team response time table there.
