I've somehow managed to get my girlfriend involved in Shadowrun. For some reason, she's wanting to play a Troll, but she wanted ideas on how to draw her own character. And wow- there aren't many pictures of female trolls. Maybe I haven't been looking in the right areas, but I've found 2 pictures in 20+ years of sourcebooks- one in Target:Matrix and one in Prime Runners.
With that in mind, am I missing any in sourcebooks? Also, could there be an attempt at adding more in the future?

The most depictions of female Shadowrun trolls I have ever seen was in the Shadowrun Returns Anthology.

Thanks! I'll check that out when I can. I'll confess that it seems odd that there are so few pics of troll ladies.

Especially since every 3rd runner seems to be a troll. This isn't only a Shadowrun problem, of course. Earthdawn has fewer drawings of female trolls than nearly any other metatype. Is there something about them that artists hate?

Well, perusing even more of the older works, I've found an inexplicable female troll model- Anne Penchyk, who has definitely been identified as an ork in the text.

This has always fascinated me, especially in Fantasy. Even as a kid of like 12, my mind would right away go to "shouldn't she be wearing more armour?"

I guess their slutty looks protect them from swords and stuff. "Kill them all!... oh, but not the chick, let's not attack her".

I just had this vision of a heavy-duty Ares Firewatch team, all guns and serious killing intent, you know, a really dark black-and-white artistic style, and in the background 2 female members of the team wearing midriff exposing power armour, helmets off revealing luscious blond hair wiping sideways, splashing each other with water guns like in a car wash.

While not directly regarding females and lack of armor thereof, I did enjoy a scene in a recent WH40K novel where the space marines are running around without their helmets as some do, and one chaos marine is just head shotting them with his bolter pistol one after the other while he berates them for not wearing a bloody helmet.

But yeah, the bare midriff armors had to be the silliest notion as that is where hits would do the most damage short of a head strike.

CGL seems to be aware of this sort of thing, or they just have the good taste to avoid it in the first place. There are a few gratuitous shots I've seen. Not so much lacking in armor but definitely selling to male gaze (shadowrunner sitting on stairs, gun and sword formng a "V" over her crotch, Maria Mercurial's gratuitous underboob shot). Not bad compared to some, and nowhere near the softcore porn you see in comic books or other geek hobbies.

See, that's what I am talking about - a "suggestive" pose which could easily not have occurred to the artist as being suggestive (it doesn't sound very alluring, or even significant at all, as you describe it), and an in-setting sex symbol and pop idol wearing something "sexy" for a night out on the town.

None of that is inherently "cheesecake"  like certain fantasy games and their plate armor with "boob windows".

Some older art had more of the Riot Grrl style to it, so there were more bikinis with mohawks then. Shadowrun hasn't had much in the way of gratuitous fanservice that I can recall, honestly. And most of it is at least a little tongue-in-cheek; Attitude being a great example.
