It has been a pretty horrid week so please forgive me if the question is stupid.  Did I roll the correct dice pool for the data search?  I used Logic (4) plus a data skill (4) for 8d6 pool.  is that all I get or is there some computer skill also added in?

Matrix actions are Skill + Program Rating (in this case Data Search + Browse) for a total of 7 dice to start.  Taking off the last die of your rolls only causes you to lose 1 success, which doesn't change your information.  The bad news is that losing that die, and the success, on your third roll takes you from a succeeding action to a critical glitch.  You have yet to use any Edge, so you can downgrade it to a glitch by spending 1.

Speaking of Edge, if anyone used any between arriving in LA and starting the job, it has refreshed.

I guess I had better use an edge to avoid the critical glitch.  Hmmmm.  Looking at my character my dice pools are a bit on the low side except for first aid and pistol.  Any ideas on what to improve first should I get the chance?

Your dice pools are lower than specialist's, but you can operate as a hacker, a combatant and/or a face effectively, and you have plenty of room to easily grow into those roles either through Karma or cyberware.

I have the glitch on tap already, so for now don't worry about that.  If you guys are going through with this plan as it is,  I need to know where Clem and O'Connor are parking and the timeline.

I'm thinking Clem will park a few buildings down, so as to be close enough to quickly get back to the car but far enough for people not to know they are associated with the hotel. And I'm guessing Clem and Sammy should rent their room before O'Connor and Torley come in and "extract" their information.

I must have missed something because I had thought that the motel was just across the street from the bar.

It was in the same neighborhood , but not that close.  Actual distance is probably  3/4 of a kilometer

Okay, everyone has at least poked their head in here in the last 30 odd hours, so I guess you need prodding.

I am going to assume that Clem is going in to rent rooms, asking for 7 and 8, then she and Sammy will check out the target room and then send in the boys to play good cop/bad cop if needed while Snow is keeping anyone from setting off a panic button.

That is what Snow is doing.  I am sorry for not saying that.  She is doing overwatch on the team frequency to make sure that the security is up.  I had thought my earlier look and see at the motel indicated no security system.  It seems that might not be accurate.  Searching for a security node.

Electronic Warfare (3d6 defaulting) + Scan (4d6) = 7d6, but reduced 1d6 for maintaining overwatch = 6d6 total pool.

Assuming I need a threshold like for the last scan the next three rolls are:

Not too bad.  I will try to get control of any security node I find, if there are any.

Just moved things along.  I assume that we have two-way audio communication with everybody in the team (I have earbuds and a subvocal microphone), so that shouldn't be a problem for me to get audio.
And as soon as we have some time, I'm installing a camera in my goggles, so we can have audio and video.
