While waiting on Snow to fix the comms, O'Connor returned to the team's crate and loaded up on spare clips and ammo. After returning to the group, he asked, "Any ideas on how we're going to track down the goat?"

"I think he posted something on his blog earlier, but I couldn't be bothered to read it" said Clementine to O'Connor.

"Let's have a look at it," Sammy said, who had been standing there, opening her second commlink and checking out the post.
"I'll first check out the crime scenes in the astral to see if I can find auras," Sammy said, "then we can go check out the restaurant he mentions."

O'Connor read over the post, "Sammy, he said it's a roach coach. Maybe glitzy types like you don't know, but those things are mobile. I ain't spending all day tracking down a frycook based on a day old post by goat-legs."

"Oh, I must have missed that bit," Sammy said.  She had just skimmed the title and read the article diagonally.
"But we can still track it down," she said, "one, they probably have a fairly regular schedule and that will narrow down the search for our good friend.  Two, this is LA, so even those roach coaches have a matrix presence, probably coupled to a tracker to potential customers know where they are.  Just a question of looking it up.  As soon as Snow is done with the commlinks, she can track it down.  And three, while I have had a taste of the glitz and glamour of Hollywood, it's a. fake and b. I grew up in an area a bit like ... say Touristville in Redmond.  And today it looks more like glow city, but with water instead of nuclear waste."

"Alright then, if we can get a location on this moving diner then we can set out" said Clem. The ork didn't wait for an answer and she went to retrieve her gear, making sure her magazines were full and her firearms ready.

Finding Diablo Verde's is an easy thing, they have a schedule on the Matrix.  Finding the crime-scenes is a little tougher, but it is doable.  Problem is that one is in a very exclusive area (The End of the World) and the other is both an exclusive area and a fast growing shrine to a major pop star.

The crowded and highly patrolled astral space in both locations would make for a challenging penetration by a highly skilled astral snoop, and Sammy is not one of those yet, even if she were willing to try, both locations have magical law enforcement on site (including spirits and watchers) as well as a powerful and obvious ward.

This is not happening.

Snow moves closer to the two techs and assists as she can.  Her skill is enough that she can actually feel like she is contributing.

Sammy was quickly back from her astral trip.
"That was a bummer," she said when she got back in her own body, "wards, police, including astral police, spirits and enough fans to make Christy's house aspected.  Any astral signature I might have been able to find is long gone because all the others trampled all over it.  Consider it a dead end.  Any luck on the roach coach?"

She heard that they had indeed found it and even had a schedule.
"As soon as Snow is done with the commlinks, I suggest we visit them," she said to the team (minus Snow who was somewhere else at the moment), "Torley here can charm the pants of them and get the location where Bacchus got his burrito or whatever it was he got and we can go look from there."

Tommy, Crenshaw and Snow are working on the commlinks for about an hour.  They are able find trails and traces of the programming which would be responsible for the odd behavior, but the locations are unique for each device and the what and how are still unknown.  They figure that a factory reset should eliminate the programming, but none of them are sure as of yet.

Tommy figures he can keep working the problem, but that it is likely to be a long time before he has any real answers.

Snow is disappointed.  She had hoped that this would be a quick fix but that is not to be.  "Thank you for all the help guys.  I really appreciate it.  Can you keep working on these for a bit?  I can check in later to see if you have made progress.  And please do not do anything that would get you in trouble with your bosses here.  I will check with my team leader to see when I came be available to help out, although you guys seem far above my skill set."  She looks at Crenshaw, "Do you think you could walk me out of here?"

During the short walk, Snow leans closer to her friend and says, "Tommy seems real good at this.  Thank you for thinking of him.  Can you do a factory reset on my implanted 'link if that is the fix?"

[Crossbow]

"Things are going to be slow going for a bit with Christy Daee passing, we can find the time.  Geeks love a puzzle."  Crenshaw stutters the movement a bit but puts an arm around the little Russian, "You had a piece of that, don't think otherwise, you found that one piece of code, remember?  Anyway, yes, I will help you with the reset."

Snow accepts his arm and moves into the protective shell a bit.  When they get to the storage room, Snow turns to Crenshaw and gives him a quick kiss and a promising look before heading in to talk to her team.  "Bad news.  There is some sort of intricate code on the 'links, to include my implanted one.  A couple of techs are working on the issue, but there is no quick fix and it could take a while.  I do have a couple of metas here that I can loan out for the time being if you need one while yours is being worked on."

"I have a secondary," Sammy said to Snow, "it's a bit slower, but it will do the trick for what I need of it.  But who's working on ours actually if not you?  There's stuff on there that not just anybody can see."

Snow stops to think.  "I thought that you were using the Pito one down here?  My tech friend and one of his buddies named Tommy are working on them.  Do I need to go get them back?  I have to tell you in advance that this code is not some run-of-the-mill hacker code.  It is tough stuff and is frankly beyond my skill alone.  What do you want me to do?"
