Once everyone was in the vehicle and on their way back to LA, O'Connor jumped at the chance to fill the team in on his scheme. It was obvious he was very proud of himself, "Okay, so granted there's a lot of luck involved here, but whatever. It's not like I'm gonna stick around to steer the course. Worse case scenario, I've only ruined a life that was already in tatters. Let's be honest, it's not like he didn't have it coming. Hopefully though Bacchus will be looking for revenge, and with us long gone and me planting the false seed, he'll be gunning for Leo. Revenge gives Bacchus new direction in life, Leo learns not to leave loose ends dangling, and the A-kidz get a crash course in gang warfare. Win-win-win for all parties." O'Connor paused as an excited grin spread across his face, "Now, pie in the sky, Bacchus will be smart enough to strike for maximum impact. Meaning he'll make his move during some big A-kidz broadcast. That'll be a huge ratings grabber. Now, Sammy, correct me if I'm wrong. Hollywood execs will latch onto anything that causes a ratings spike and try to catch lightning in a bottle. Imagine it, during sweeps, all these posers actually gear up and start acting like proper gangs. And you all know, people will eat that drek up. No one can pass up the chance to rubberneck. Then the real gangs are going to want in on all that cred, and they'll look to wipe out the ones with shows to make room for themselves.  I may have just set in motion the revitalization of the LA gang scene." He doubted it would actually come, but he still acted like the others were about to congratulate him on his cunning and brilliance.

Snow does her very best to make sure that Bacchus will survive, but is still unsure.  There has not been any real traffic on this stretch of road for a while and there is every chance that the man will go into shock again after waking to find it was not a dream and that his prized legs are gone.  She carefully considers her position with the group and goes to the car, speaking through an open window.  "I am sorry, but I cannot leave this man here like this.  There has been about zero traffic pass by since we stopped and even if a car did come by there is no real guarantee that someone would stop.  His commlink has been crapped by the virus we have, but even worse, so he would not even be able to call for help.  Besides, I think there is a very good chance that he will fall back into shock after waking up.  I have seen it before after treating patients on the operating table.  I am a criminal and perhaps worse, but more importantly I am a doctor and I just cannot leave it like this.  I would like to propose that I drive his car and follow you back to LA, then go to a hospital and leave him where he will be found by the hospital staff.  We can keep connected and discuss the next step while we drive."  Snow looks around at the others, then focuses on Con.  "I know you guys are a tight-knit group and I am still the outsider foisted on you by the Johnson, but I have to say something.  That bit was uncalled for, Con.  The man was not even resisting and he was talking.  I hope that this is part of a greater plan, but I just do not see the value."  Her mind made up, Snow returns to the other car and makes Bacchus as comfortable as possible in the passenger seat before starting up and making a U-turn.  She tries to keep in touch with the others via her Meta 'link.

Clem listened to O'Connor, still struggling with his "plan". Deep down, she was feeling glad she hadn't fallen for the man's new image since Snow had arrived on the scene. Just like she was wearing some heavy makeup to conceal her real identity, O'Connor was still the same deep down. *People don't change* thought the ork, which gave her pause for a brief moment. Did that mean she was bound to always run, coming home to a lonesome and empty apartment?

Shaking the thoughts from her head, Clem nodded at Snow and said "Follow us and we'll drop him off on the way back to LA." The street samurai definitely didn't like this detour, but could see in Snow's face this was more than a simple act of goodwill. The Russian woman had been shaken by the events and needed to do something about it.

Once on the road, the ork said out loud "I still don't understand how a gang war gets us paid or makes our job any easier."

O'Connor shrugged as Snow walked back towards Bacchus' car. Apparently she'd gotten a very wrong impression about him based on his kindness towards her. It seemed he'd ruined his chances with her. A shame to be sure, but this was a one of a kind chance to sow seeds of chaos and destruction, and to whip these poser gangs into shape. And as they say, there's more fish in the sea.

O'Connor rolled his eyes at Clem, "It had nothing to do with the run. It's about getting these Pito gangs back on the right track. They're a joke and need to learn how to act like proper bangers again. And do you only do things revolving around work? No hobbies or anything?"

You have found a turnaround and are driving at an innocuous speed (figuring at most 5 KPH above or below the limit) with Snow trailing a safe distance behind, when a shimmering barrier appears across the width of the road.

(OOC: I need surprise checks from everyone, to save time I will also need driving checks from Mercy and Hydro so we will know if they crash before or after they are surprised :) )

Snow listens to Con's plan over the team net, or what is left of it.  The crappy Metas are not up to her normal standard, but her internal 'link is fragging apart and she does not trust it.  She drives in silence for a bit, then says, >>This may have been a good plan, but it was not a team decision to do this.  In my mind there is no real reason to start a gang war of any kind and certainly no need to teach these gangers, posers or not, how to become real ganger, whatever that is.  I do wonder at your experience with "real" gangs.  I could tell you stories, but I am just me.  There may be others that can talk to you about what real gangs are like.  And a war of any sort usually brings innocent people into the crossfire between gangs.  If this had been a group discussion, my vote would have been against the action and against the war.<<

>>That being said, wher.............Что побед! Панка посмотреть!, Clem look out!<<  Her voice breaks off as a shimmering field appears across the road ahead of the first car.  Snow attempts to stop the car before crashing into either the barrier or the other car.

Sammy had kept out of the conversation.  She had placed her spirit on standby as she still had one service left and it would be easier to use that service instead of calling up a new spirit.  During the drive back, she texted to the people she had put on the answering machine.  In LA, public relations was a given and you had to work on them.  Constantly.

A sudden screetch of the breaks brought her out of her concentration.

surprise test.

I assume that with only 1 hit I'm surprised.

O'Connor was about to give his counter argument to Snow, but was cutoff when drek started to go down.

Listening to Snow, Clem wasn't giving the road her full attention when something suddenly appeared in from of her. Surprised, she tried to keep her composure.

First, surprise test. Surprise ~ Reaction 7 + Intuition 4: 11d6t5 4 no glitches, which gives us a 15.

Next, driving test. Driving Test ~ Reaction 7 + Pilot Ground Craft 1 + Handling 2: 10d6t5 2 close, but no glitches. Since I only have one edge left, I'll let this driving test stand.

Tires scream, plexiglass cracks, polymetals crumple and a half a dozen metahuman bodies go from traveling over a hundred kilometers an hour to a dead stop in just over four carlengths.  The magical barrier that halted your progress is already gone, but before you can even begin to assess your surroundings and pain, loud bangs sound in the engine compartment near the passenger wheel well and the engines die completely.

(OOC: Once all resistance rolls are done, I will also need passive visual perception rolls, please remember if you disabled your PAN that means any funky goggles you have going are disabled too. Then you can roll initiative, and take actions.)

Tanya slams forward then back as the car careens into..........something.  The barrier seemed tangible enough when she hit it and she barely recognizes that it is now apparently gone.  Unlatching the seat belt, Snow weakly grabs her medkit and forces the door open, tumbling to the ground, badly stunned.  In the moment before she had crashed, Snow had seen the car ahead of her slam into the barrier.  Not even sure where her Meta Link is at the time, she begins to crawl over to the other car, dragging her kit with her.  The pain and surprise are so much that she can barely focus on getting to the other car, ignoring or not even seeing what is going on around her.

Sammy was doing something else when the car hit the barrier and she slammed her head against the seat in front of her.  While the seatbelt made that she didn't fly through the front window, it did bruise her ribs from the shock and she went limp in the harness of the seatbelt.

I'll put the resist roll here again.

O'Connor smashed into the back of the driver seat and reeled back from the impact. He was stunned and probably concussed, but still conscious. He told Clem, "Pop the trunk." He didn't have a clear idea of what was happening, but when in doubt O'Connor grabbed a gun. He got out of the vehicle, not spotting an immediate threat or source of the attack, and when to retrieve his rifle.

Sam hit the dashboard hard, but didn't black out. Pulling the door open and unfastening his seatbelt, he slid to the ground next to the car, wondering why he was thinking about a dragonfly.

Disoriented, Clem unfastened her seatbelt and exited the car as fast as she could. Hearing O'Connor, she quickly stepped back, opening the trunk of the car before dashing to find some cover and taking her SMG out, trying to shake off the fuzziness from the crash.
