I am a new  GM and want to run fast food fight for some seasoned runners who have done it before. I want to learn the system but to make it interesting for them I want a simple twist that will surprise them. Ideas?

Perhaps there's an Aztechnology tactical team waiting for them when they come outside, and there's a few moments of confusion when the team thinks the runners are the robbers.

Maybe the store doesn't get held up immediately, and instead one of the runners becomes the 1,000,000th customer and wins a lifetime supply of Nerps?

Maybe the store has hidden gun emplacements because they've been robbed a whole bunch of times, and someone hits the Panic button to make the gun start spraying APDS rounds at everything that moves more than 1m per Combat Turn?

Maybe the people who hold up the store are local trid stars doing a live-action show where the robbery is part of the entertainment and was planned out with the store's cooperation before-hand.

I pulled Fast Food Fight from the 5th edition quickstart rules. I read through the scenario and it's about a small business owners daughter getting kidnapped by the mob and held at a burger joint. There's no robbery in the scenario. Maybe a robbery by some gangers while they are trying to talk to the mob could be the twist? It is set at night.

Oh is this different from Food Fight?  The one about the Stuffer Shack being knocked over?

Sorry for my confusion. The group I'm currently with has told me tales of the original (including one where the robber was none other than the Pendragon; that Stuffer Shack was robbed every single time they visited it as a running gag). They're currently planning to run it for me as well. So, when you said the title, I confused it for the one I've heard more of.

Correct: Fast Food Fight takes place at a McHugh's burger joint, with the mob being the main enemy. If you want the classic Food Fight, for now it can only be found in the Beginner's Box Set.

I am going to use fast food fight. I think the twist will be it's a datasteal. The mob is blackmailing the Johnson. Johnson hires the runners to kill the gangsters and make sure they get the data. Then the Johnson turns on the runners when they go to collect their earnings.

Search the forums before you play; there's a thread somewhere about fixing the plot-holes in Fast Food Fight, which will help, especially if you're a new GM.

I did a search for Fast Food fight and found nothing on plot holes.

Ok for the twist I was thinking that when they go to get paid it's at the Johnson's shop. He is behind a clear bullet resistant plastic barrier (not sure what rating to give it) he is a mage and from the LOS rules I believe you can shoot through windows so he hits them with magic and pop up guns that fire through ports in the barrier. What do you think?

Question: are the runners incompetent? Because only incompetent runners would agree to meet somewhere that isn't neutral ground, especially if it's someone's home turf. I could understand the Johnson being a silent partner in whatever club/bar they meet at, but his shop?

If the Johnson didn't know they were coming, meeting at his shop is actually a pretty good idea. Especially if they disable the security before going in.

Meeting him at his shop when he knows they're coming and is standing behind a barrier? Yeah, I agree with Ze; those are runners soon for the grave.

Ok. Here's another twist idea. They meet the Johnson in a bar and he explains he is low on nuyen and offers to pay the runners partly in reagents. He rigs up a homemade incindiary bomb and gives it to them in one of his stores boxes. If they try to open it in front of him he wigs out and tries to rabbit. If they don't they deserve getting blown up. What do you think?

Boobytrapping a payment in barter sounds like something a Johnson might do, yes, and there's actually a few payments in barter in Missions.
