Ok, last time I asked a simple question, my forum went off the rails and was permabanned by good old fastjack himself, so first "sorry!"  second,  I am only asking because I don't know.  I'm not a troll, just stupid.  Ok now that the disclaimer is done, I feel safer asking my question.

Who owned Shadowrun When?  I want to know what time it was in the world when FASA owned it in my nice real world and what time it was in the fiction.  When did Catalyst own it during those same times (real/fiction)?  Anyone in between?

Thanks in advance and I look forward to getting into far more unintended minefields.  So please, before the flamewars start, please answer my question!

This is a cut&paste from an earlier post of mine.

FASA Corp. publishes Shadowrun 1st. edition in 1989.
In 2001 (now in 3rd edition), FASA effectively closes shop, but licenses its various IPs.
Weisman, through Smith & Tinker, holds the video game rights and licenses them to Microsoft, who puts out a FPS in 2007 no one is allowed to talk about.
WizKids buys the Shadowrun IP and licenses it to FanPro.
FanPro is bought by Topps in 2003.
FanPro releases 4th edition in 2005.
In 2007 FanPro gave up the license to Shadowrun RPG material (my understanding is they still have the license for German fiction, but may be wrong about that).
Topps then gives the license to Catalyst.
Catalyst releases 20th Anniversary edition in 2009.
In 2012 Weisman has a Kickstarter campaign and buys back licenses the video rights from Microsoft, later releasing Shadowrun Returns.
In 2013 Catalyst releases 5th edition.

I think the IP stuff is pretty accurate, but I'm 99% certain I have the dates correct.

Oh, we can talk about what happened in 2007, it's just that the Mods don't like us using that kind of language.  ;D

No, Ray. We must never speak its name, lest it return again and destroy us all. If you really want to see this monstrosity, you can buy it for $3 on Amazon. $3. It was THAT bad.

$3 on Amazon... 2007... Shadowrun related... Does it involve Brazil? If so, the other deals section of Amazon has it as low as $0.45 for a new copy.

And, thank you for this history! It helps a lot.

Yes that's it. And "Shadowrun-related" is giving that crapstorm of a game a LOT of credit...

Play the Sega Genesis or SNES game for good fluff.

I play Returns. It's much easier for me to obtain and I don't have working game equipment for the older stuff.

Any way to legally get the SNES and Genesis games?  I really want to give those a try.

No, I'm pretty sure it was just an ordinary, everyday thief that took my SNES along with a few other things in the house, not someone emulating a thief.

In each edition, what time was it.  Its 2075 in SR5.  How about the other ones?

Shadow 1: 2050
2: 2053
3: 2060
4: 2070
4A: 2072
5: 2075

Other books (like Year of the Comet) have specific dates assigned to them as well.

For a while, books followed 64-years-ahead. But nowadays, and in the far past iirc, it's 62 years ahead. So as of today, it's May 20th 2076 in-universe.
How am I not part of the forum?? O_O I am both active and angry!
