Hey everyone what's going on I'm looking for help on cheap vehicles I need some wheels because I'm def getting short changed by this scruffy nerf herding a hole of a decker I'm playing with. He has the van we are using and basically any loot I find or take off people I end up having to have "ride tax" because it's his van and its not coming on board if he isn't getting paid to transport . So my options are to party kill him or find a cheap ride that has cargo room for like 10 guns. Any and all help would be appreciated I have about 5000 Nuyen right now

I thought the "getting paid to transport" you part was covered by the part where you're hired as a team - since fuel costs are abstracted away by the game, charging you transport fees is incredibly unfair to the others, and freaking ridiculous to boot. If he doesn't understand that, start charging him for your expenses, like Poindexter suggests, and make sure it's very expensive, since you have to go through your contacts to get ammo and grenades.

If that doesn't work, you can get a Dodge Scoot for 3k (since you don't have the nuyen for an 8.5k Suzuki Mirage, which is more suitable for a getaway vehicle) and transport your guns in a sports bag, or split the costs of a 10k Jackrabbit with another team member. Then you fire an APDS salvo at his van: with how crazy expensive repairing vehicles is in 5th, that'll cost him more nuyen than the "ride tax" earned him. And since your vehicle is cheaper, he'll still be the loser even if he decides to damage yours and you two end up blowing up each other's vehicles.

Have a conversation with your GM outside of the game and find out where he is on this topic. If he is behind you then bring it up to the other PC in game or out. Tell him he is being a tool - he is ruining the game and creating strife and party conflict. That if he doesn't stop it is going to degenerate into bad shit for the team.

I can't see many mature GMs letting this happen. Once PCs start fighting it goes down hill fast. How long before the medic doesn't heal this guy without payment first for the Band-aids? How long before you start stepping to the side to avoid costly damage to your armor by bullets?

I can see the party making team decision to take the cost of X off the top of a run due to the team needing it. But, that is a team vote. At our table if it isn't a unanimous vote then it doesn't happen (on spending cash).

Now that being said... Why isn't all loot found on a team run, team loot and split up by the team? This may need to be corrected before confronting him. Is he doing it in retaliation to what your doing? If you correct your behavior will his correct too?

On the other hand,

You are putting STOLEN goods into his car, thus linking him directly to a crime. Given that all items are Wi-Fi enabled, even guns, and an owner of an item can ALWAYS see his own matrix icons, you are putting a huge bullseye on his van for the police, Corp, or mafia just easily track.....

Looting is not a wise idea....EVER.
Where am I going? And why am I in a hand basket ???

First, talk to everyone else who's irritated at this hose-head.  Get them to agree to follow your lead.  Then talk to the hosehead.  If it's the player, explain things to him nicely; if it's the character, explain things to him nicely.  If he sees things your way, great.  If not, then smile after the next meet, and say that y'all are tired of paying his 'transport tax', and y'all are gonna walk, or take taxis, or ride the bus or something - anything but go with him.  Oh, sorry, he needs you to get him into the location?  Tell him he'll just have to wait until y'all can manage to make it there.  That's gonna screw the run?  Well, that's his problem, isn't it?

Here's the trick to this: willingly take the hit to your reputation/Notoriety.  Spend Street Cred like water to make it go away on y'all - make sure that everyone knows any issues come from this guy hosing his own team.  Make sure your GM is okay with you guys doing this too.

Later on, go in with everyone else to get your own vehicle.  Now, this is important: make sure it's stealthier than his.  Make sure it blends in better, looks more innocuous, whatever.  Then deliberately semi-botch a run, arrainging things so that corporate security thinks that you went and got into his van.  Make sure he parks by an entrance to the sewer, that sort of thing - go down the grate when security can't see you, etc.

When he bitches about hosed runs, his van getting shot up, whether it's IC or OOC, shrug and ask him if he thinks it's a good idea to continue to charge 'transport tax' when his van isn't getting the shit shot out of it.  He gets his cut after repairs, ammo, etc. is taken out of the group's payment.  Or he can shape up and be a team player.

Alternately, after talking to him each time before the run, let him do this for three more runs.  Then arrange on the side for a replacement decker to be waiting in the wings (PC or NPC, doesn't matter) and as soon as he jacks into VR, put multiple bullets (silenced) through his brainpan.  When the player bitches (which he will), tell him that y'all decided that you'd paid enough rent and the van was now yours. As is his cyberdeck, etc.

Given that all items are Wi-Fi enabled, even guns, and an owner of an item can ALWAYS see his own matrix icons...
First thing when looting an item is to turn wireless OFF (and use a tag eraser to get rid of stealth tags)
...and only turning wireless ON later if you want to try to hack the item to change ownership.

Or have the decker spend some of his fee to buy a Faraday cage in the transportation vehicle to block out all wireless and radio communications.

That raises the question whether you actually can turn wireless off on a device you do not own, or have a faraday cage or similar container ready.

No matter what take it over with the gm if it is the player. If it is the character talk it over with him or as a
Team start looking for a replacement.

Well this all started after myself(street Sam) the rigger, and the hermedic Mage stormed a compound I killed 8 rigger killed the two Mages controlling the blood golem and the Mage killed the blood golem. The fight was meant to be a party wipe but we rolled with the devils luck. Anyway decker didn't want to be any part of this and wouldn't take down the defensive grid to help us so you would think he doesn't get loot but instead while I'm scouting to make sure everyone is actually dead he loads his truck with the spoils of my kills. So the three of us have banded together and are going to buy a aztechnology salsa or perhaps save for a cargo truck . Also our Gm has said "I'm not particularly attached to any of your characters just yet....it would be a shame if somebody got knifed in the back"

I'm with Xenon on this: looting gear is perfectly doable, especially if you're going to sell it instead of trying to change ownership.

This situation just has so much wrong with it.  I have so many questions.

I'm def getting short changed by this scruffy nerf herding a hole of a decker I'm playing with. He has the van we are using and basically any loot I find or take off people I end up having to have "ride tax" because it's his van and its not coming on board if he isn't getting paid to transport .

Any and all help would be appreciated I have about 5000 Nuyen right now

1.  Why don't you have a vehicle of your own as a Samurai?   I assume you had at LEAST a Priority-B in cash as one.
2.  Why is the Decker the team transport instead of the Rigger?
3.  Why do you only have 5K after Multiple Runs?  How much are you getting paid & how many runs have you done?
4.  What kind of douche-y team do you play with that thinks this behavior is even remotely acceptable in a game environment?

Well this all started after myself(street Sam) the rigger, and the hermedic Mage stormed a compound I killed 8 rigger killed the two Mages controlling the blood golem and the Mage killed the blood golem. The fight was meant to be a party wipe but we rolled with the devils luck.

Anyway decker didn't want to be any part of this and wouldn't take down the defensive grid to help us so you would think he doesn't get loot but instead while I'm scouting to make sure everyone is actually dead he loads his truck with the spoils of my kills.

5.  Why was it meant to be a Party Wipe?   I mean, what GM sets you up for a TPK?  What is the point of that?  Does he not want to GM any more?  Game no longer fun?
6.  Why would the team do something that 1 member was flat out against.  Especially something as suicidal as you are calling it?
7.  Why is the team doing "per kill" looting as opposed to salvage as a group & split the cash after its fenced, or keep something as your share of the fenced loot?
8.  Why was the Decker on the Run when he didn't want to participate?
9.  Why was the steal loot from other players tolerated from the beginning?   This would have been shot down literally & figuratively in 5 minutes if it had come up at my table.

10.  Mage I can understand having a Scoot, Growler, or Mirage,  but again why exactly do the Samurai & Rigger not already have vehicles?

11.  Well at least the GM is starting to speak up about this.  But its not enough & way to late IMHO.

12.  Suggestion:  You 3 Go in together on a Ford Americar for now.  Its 16K, and is the most common car on the road.  it has enough room for 2 bodies or moderate sized gear in the trunk.  After that each of you needs to focus on getting an individual vehicle on your own.

Seriously, how do you survive w/o vehicles?  Even my super-poor Mystic w/ 6K at start dumped 1/2 of it on a Scooter.

PS.  One thing you can do if your GM is any thing like mine.

When we go into a room, priority targets for the bad guys have the most bad guys aiming at them.
So if there are 6 goons.  He splits it something like.  2 on the Troll,  2 on the Mage,  1 on the Adept,  1 on the Decker.

Point being, everyone gets a little love from the bad guys.

In the end however the combat types do most the killing.
For example, I normally kill my guys & help someone else finish off theirs.

If such a situation comes up.  Feel free to stop shooting after anyone targeting you is dead.  If they are shooting at the Decker.  Just let them keep shooting.
Starting looting your goons or bandaging  yourself while he's still fighting.  Tell him you'd be happy to help him for a fee.

The gm is very cool long time friend the decker has been playing years and all 8 others of us have never played when I say missions I'm mean we have played 5 sessions not 5 missions. That was my fault also our gm is pretty tight and he has a very what happens happens I'm only a narrator and loose guiding deity. The reason it was a party wipe is that half our group wasn't there the compound had a incredibly powerful Mage who in a previous encounted was destroying blood vessels of everyone in an area and almost killed 3 of us. Out gm believes in high risk high reward encounters. All this aside the decker by his characters nature is a cowardly opportunist and the player is enjoying that role a little too much. The rigger has a bike the Mage had a bike I don't because I spent all my money on gear and bio ware. We decided to pool our money and get a bulldog step van

High Reward?  So I assume you got rich off of 3 of you winning v/s that Blood Mage?   IE, If you didn't get rich off of facing a Blood Arch-Mage, then it isn't High Reward.

Cowardly Opportunist........  I educate those people w/ a bullet to the knee............ What........ Its a Gel round!

Rigger on a Bike.............. So Wrong............. So.......... Very...........Wrong.............. I mean, owning a bike, SURE,  having it be his only transport.  WRONG.

Priority B, you really still should have had a Mirage.

Good Choice for a Group Vehicle!    I would have said it but you sounded too broke for it.

Get a Mirage for yourself after another run pays you.

Minus the gm and decker the whole group has never played before so the gm only gave light hints but would not build our characters nor should he. The high reward is a escalade like vehicle he made up owned by the arch Mage as well as access codes to the compounds armory which housed grenades, a dozen ak 98's an assortment of ares pistols and a crate of ammo and a grenade launcher. Of this the decker with our means of transport and accessing the escalade type SUV told us that he was taking half of everything in exchange for transporting it and accessing the escalade he was putting it in his name even though he did nothing to help take down the turrets in the compound take over security cameras or pull a single trigger . Which now has the rest of our group close to lynching him and selling him to my street doctor contact for parts and gear
