Due to the untimely death of a character, my gm is letting me make a replacement with all the karma and cash his late chummer had earned. The kicker is I've been granted freedom from all availability restrictions!

So dream big guys, what would you buy for a street sam with no availability woes? The trick... I only have 90k to spend...

Pain Editor if you have the essence for it. I've seen a lot of builds that state "...and as soon as I get the money put together, I'm getting a Pain Editor"

I love Synaptic Boosters over any other reaction enhancements.

Nice, good idea on the pain editor guys, that is definitely going in. Also picking up a Yamaha raiden and HK urban combat with a bunch of ex-ex.

I also think the synaptic accelerator is nice essence wise, but the cost is completely prohibitive in my opinion. For street samurai I prefer reaction enhancers 3 (used) and maybe low grade alpha wired if I can fit the essence. An auto injector with some good combat drugs goes a long way too. In this edition it really seems like the adept path is the way to go if you want to be REALLY fast...

90k total, or 90k along with whatever you get during chargen?  Honestly, there isn't much that's really restricted that you can get for that.  Well, IMO.  Certain ammo, of course ... not that the really good stuff (AV rounds) are in the game yet ...

The deal we made is that I roll up the character using normal rules including availability 12 limit, and then go back and spend the 39 karma and 53k nuyen (free exchange cash/karma) on whatever the hell I want. So I guess I could spend up to 131k on anything (still not enough for the most amazing stuff, but quite a bit), if I don't want to raise any skills or attributes.

Haha, well, if you wanna piss off your GM you can buy some Hardened Mil-Spec Battle Armor.  Or a bit more realistically usable, but still "never plan on needing this" would be Security Armor.

For real though, a Pain Editor is such an absolutely massive bonus for any combat-heavy character.  The huge increase your staying power in combat is hard to compare to anything else in the game.

Jeeze.  It would almost sound stupid until you realize we're talking about an immortal elf clown sword fighting a dragon ghost in a mall.

A move-by-wire system.  It combines the wired reflexes with the skill wires in one package, costing essence like wired reflexes.  In essence (pun intended :) ) you get the skill wires for free.  Something that can always be useful.  Need to fly a helicopter for a run and don't know how, just slot the skillsoft.

Damage comps and orthoskin, as high as you can get them. Damage comps are better than pain editor because they let you track your damage, where pain editor makes gm track it. I value knowing when to run away and fight another day. And I know enough sneaky / mean / "you asked for it" gms to make pain editor dangerous.

LOL Spooky, are you just dragging up threads that are at least a month old?  Almost every post you've made in the last few days has been on threads that aren't even on the first page anymore.  :P

Agreed. This looks like a 'training wheels' edition, that you can use to introduce someone to the setting, and then shift over to something like 5E or 4E. Like how D&D 5E is best used as training wheels for D&D 3.X.

Turned in Toxshaman for ¥1 million/4 once.

Going straight to a Rating-7 Commlink isn't a bad idea ever.

As for thread necro, could be he's just reading up on various topics, till they hit the year plus its not really "old" is it?

Or maybe I'm just catching up to you, since you've been around a while, and I just got into the forums a few days ago... ;)
