Murder Armor is a really fun and surprisingly effective way to add to your survivability.
But I wonder: What does the armor actually look like?

The image in Run&Gun seems to indicate some kind of full body riot gear, but that seems to be contra productive if you want to kill other people than storm troopers in your movies.

My question is now: Can you wear this armor and still look like a normal person on the street (Which would make the armor an excellent choice for infiltrators) or does it have to look like obvious armor?

Murder Armor is more bulky than an Armor Vest, which I think would show through clothing, and Armor Clothing is less bulky than an Armor Vest.

I mean it's the GM's discretion, but I would say it's combat armour with stats just shy of milspec. When coupled with the GorePak gimmick, I would say the armour is trading off a discreet visual profile, for extra protection.

Padded Leather Armor on Page 72 of Run&Gun, top left paragraph.
Quote
Anyone looking to give cheap protection to a large group of people for relatively cheap without drawing law enforcement’s attention. So, gangs. Some of those ganger leathers are actually this stuff. There’s added protection, and while it’s cheaper than some forms of armor it’s a
hell of a lot more expensive than a simple leather jacket. Spending that money tells your members and other people who know your gang that you’re on the rise.

I got mixed up when I posted because I was referencing information from memory. I edited my original post so it makes a bit more sense.

There's actually a picture of Murder Armor on page 73.

Yes, I'm aware of that.
The question is: Does the armor always look like that, or - as it is designed for filming - is that just one possible iteration that happens to look like riot gear.

If it didn't come in all shapes and possibly sizes it would be useless so I assume the picture is but one representation of it.

That's a good idea. Maybe for a capacity cost of [2] and applying the special rules. Although since the armor only has 4 capacity left from 13, it looks like it should be a hefty investment in capacity. I can't find capacity rules for biomonitor and holster in SR5, but more than [5] would be unreasonable, leaving at least [4] for the gore pak installment.

Remember that the gore packs are all over the thing, and out of one such have to produce sufficient gore to help you make your opponent think you've bought the farm.  Capacity of 4 would, I think, be useable.

R&G p87: 3 for the holster, 1 for the biomonitor, so then it'd be 5+ for the gore pak.

I would buy that for special ocassions at that capacity price. You get a very limited special effect at rather high cost. I like it!
