At what point should I switch from Error to my decker? And where do things stand in that regard between Hopless and Archive, since we have to retcon a bit?

good question.

I'd say start with Archive now or at the end of this exchange with Dr. Ken.  As for retconning, that is mostly up to you.  I figure we can play it a number of different ways:

1. At this point in the IC Archive has received Breeze's message, received the encryption key at Mars, and sent a Hopeless a comm expressing interest in the job, which was replied to with "Who is this?"

2. Archive has received Breeze's message, and the encryption key at Mars, but has not yet sent Hopeless a comm

3. Archive has received Breeze's message but has yet to have taken any further action.

4. Archive has yet to have even received Breeze's message.

Any of those is fine with me, and so I think you should pick the path that seems most interesting to you.  The exchange with Dr. Ken may go on for a bit, so if you'd like to go through Archive's reaction to Breeze's loss, and the new found information, we definitely have time for that.  I'm assuming that the team will want to discuss strategy with their new matrix support, so I doubt any further planning will occur until after Archive has met the team.

@Jack, is Bookworm following the team astrally as Dr. Ken tools around College Station?

I think I'll go with 'Archive just received Breeze's message,' as that's the simplest for me.

So, what was in Breeze's message to Archive anyway? I'm not sure I saw that in the IC anywhere.

Cool.  Breeze's message is here: http://forums.shadowruntabletop.com/index.php?topic=17566.msg334308#msg334308

@Poindexter, very cool.  Wish I could see his face a little better.

Alright, so Breeze did mention the Matrix backup and the fact someone was messing with the comms. That would make Archive paranoid, and not want to reach out to Hopeless unless he could ensure his message isn't being intercepted. So the first thing he'd do upon finding Hopeless's commcode is make sure it's secure.

Might as well get the dice crunch out of the way before posting in the IC.

Data Processing 4(5), Firewall 5(6), Attack 3, Sleaze 6.

Running programs: Signal Scrub, Encryption, Toolbox

Hot-Sim: +2. Running Silent: -2

Matrix Perception (Computer 6 + Intuition 4): 10d6t5 3

First hit is used to spot Hopeless' commlink. Second hit is used to check the commlink's Firewall. Third hit is to determine how many marks are on his commlink. If there are any marks other than the owner's, Archive will assume that belongs to whoever has been fragging with his comms.

So, any mysterious marks, or is Hopeless' comm secure enough for Archive to message him without fear of it being intercepted?

Might as well join in on the hero forging. Actually had to photoshop this to get both the glasses and the face mask at the same time.

Dang, I missed the hoodie. Bookworm would normally wear one, but given that it's pretty hot right now, I put her in spring/summer wear.

@R&B: Once the plan changed a bit and Dr. Ken decided to drive around, Bookworm would have instructed the Americar's pilot program to follow Dr. Ken's car. She'll then project and mirror the movements of the Americar. I'm not particularly comfortable leaving Bookworm comatose in a parking garage with no one watching her body. I'll post IC to account for all of the above.

@Ryo, Hopeless has been pretty disciplined about keeping his comm running silent, and I generally assume runners are running silent when they're going to meets and stuff.  @Poindexter, can you shed some light on this?  Has Hopeless been running silent since he rebooted his Transys Avalon?  If so, Archive can spot the commlink and see that it has a Rating 6 firewall, but he cannot access the number of marks.

@Jack, things look fairly clear, and Dr. Ken is keeping off the highway and staying mostly on city streets.  There are a lot of dead areas from the smaller corporate campuses and ditto for the corporate housing, and there's a few awakened plants nearer to some of the bigger buildings.  Is Bookworm going to stay projecting above the car on a public street?

From what I recall, given how non-living things in the astral are opaque, I think I have to be outside of the car in order to see anything that isn't inside the car. If that's the case, I guess it would be smart to fly up a little so as not to highlight our convoy.

Windows are a weird one for me.  Are windows opaque in the astral?  As for flying up a little higher, that's probably a good call.

They were in prior editions. I don't remember if Spell Grimoire ever clarified that, I'm pretty sure the Core Book did not.
