Is that Hong Konk sourcebook an older supplement or something Catalys will throw in for SR5? Because in case of the latter, I might not be able to hold back...
It's a new book being written, yes.
Any idea if the book will be set in the current timeframe?

According to the FAQ, the book will be set in 2050ish, but it will be compatible with multiple editions of the rules.

I'm definitely really interested in the HK splatbook and how they'll turn out the setting.  In modern Shadowrun, Wuxing is the big 10 AAA megacorp that dominates Hong Kong and I imagine they still are a major driving force in 2050...

But Wuxing didn't achieve AAA status until 2059, 2 years after Dunklezahn's Will granted them 3 major bequests.  They didn't fully consolidate until after 2064 when the Matrix Crash let them gobble up a lot of Asian corps.  Interesting to see if HBS can tie that sort of thing in.

Even the shadows didn't really know squat about Wuxing until Lei Kung did the intelligence gathering run against them in POAD: DS, but up until the will it was known in Hong Kong for being the local kid that was into everything.

Quote
one of the corp’s top four moneymakers is the division that sells those little packets of salted dried plums you find in Chinese markets. The other three cred-pullers are those little pinhead-sized doohickeys that go into datajacks, some kind of biochemical compound used in skillwires, and (this one was really bizarre) personal flotation tanks.

SR2050 painted a good starting picture of what Hong Kong was like before Wuxing became the AAA it is now. The intro to the SR:HK Kickstarter says it's set in 2056 (SRR - 2054; SR:D - 2055).

Another $300k and we get a prime runner bonus mission.
Power corrupts.
Absolute power is kinda neat.

Looking really promising. I wonder what else they'll post as we get further along?

I think 300k is hard to match in the remaining days. Usually KS campaigns go hot early and then cool down rapidly.

Nah it will get hot again in the last few days as people hop off the fence and pledge. That's also when the backers redouble their efforts at promoting the cause.

or their upgrade the pledge as funds allow for more shinies :)
Do you believe in a greater WIRELESS, an Invisible(WiFi) All Seeing(detecting those connected- at least if within 100'), All Knowing(all online data) Presence that we can draw upon for Wisdom(downloads & updates), Strength (wifi boni) and Comfort (porn) or do you turn your back on it  (Go Offline)?

almost 70% of pledges to KS happen in the first 5 days and the last 3 days of the project, regardless of the length of the project. This is why, when I'm asked to consult, I always say keep your project to 30 days. The success will always be your understanding of you target audience and your understanding of social media. There will be a huge surge during the last week as the KS reminders system kicks in but if your worried then start posting on any cyberpunk, sci fi, gaming, RPG, or other website and talk up the project. Always try to include a direct link so people only need click and not do any searching on their own.

They cool down, yeah, but then often go nuts again in the last little bit.  I'm not saying 300k is a solid lock-down option that's gonna happen for sure, but it surely isn't impossible.

Cleared 800K today. 2 weeks for 200K should be no issue for this project.
