The difference is 45 Karma, and doesn't address the problem that adepts are the better faces, better sams, and not worse as mages either, sides not being able to project.
Whatever char you do, unless it needs projecting or Resonance, it's better as an Adept.
And I get along with that, I just don't want another one. In that Pool I already had 2 (with 0 and 1 Magic, though) for 1 mundane, 1 nearly done to be played soon, and until the next Augmentation comes out, I don't see much chance to change that without purposefully gimping myself.
So no, not actually a big difference.  :-\

No, there's still a big difference (and you skipped the buying power-points part too).  Though, my primary reason to respond to that was because adzling has a hate-on for mystic adepts, which derails topics and causes strife on the forum.  Instead of someone poking the sleeping bear and derailing the thread, I pointed out mystic adepts and adepts are two different things, which they are.  If your group has a lot of adepts, it makes sense not to play one, by all means.  That doesn't make them the be-all end-all.

Also, whoever said adepts were better street sams is pretty mistaken, at least for the time-frame most games fall in. Street sams are generally able to pump out more damage and take more hits at the moment, which takes a long amount of time and an excessive amount of Karma and initiations for an Adept to catch up to when all is said and done (compare bone lacing and orthoskin to mystic armor and enhanced body, for example).  You'd also need to back up your opinion that an adept makes everything better (which can sometimes work, but not as a whole).
Would you want to go into a place where the resident had a drum-fed shotgun and can see in the dark?

The actual problem, though, is Adepts with bonelacing and orthoskin. And Muscle Toner.  :-X
Btw, 45 Karma Difference: 15 Adept -> MyAd, +30 for 6 PPs.
But no, I don't actually have any problem with MyAds, they are by far not as common in our pool.
As such, wiht ~3 Essence left, the Adept can still easily get to 4 magic for a low karma Investment.

Edit: Following two lines not actually useful to the thread.
F.Ex. I planned to create a Harvester based around fast reflexes. Move by Wire (once that comes out) using restricted gear and in Dept. But I probably save Karma by going Adept with Way of the Burnout instead, and grabbing the ware standard grade.
I'm even better off by instead going barely cybered Adept, 3 Points of Improved Reflexes is nearly as good and leaves plenty of Essence and magic for other pursuits.
Faces? Social Infiltrators? Physical Infiltrators? My next nearly done char will actually be a pure MyAd, no ware. That's outright refreshing, to tell the truth. :P Though that's obviously also a reason to not plan another one before the first one is done.

The concept for the 'Mage that cuts himself' Inspriration here is that he's not a physical fighter, and it's too easy to use powerpoints to create a fighter.
Also, there is something to be said for projecting, you don't miss it, but if you have it there's suddenly plenty of use.
Anyways, I guess there's no solution to my plight, might as well just learn to deal with it.  8)
