Yeah but why would bricking the component of a cyberlimb make the entire limb non-functional until you can get it to a cybertech?

The way I see it, the cyberdeck is a seperate system. It's installed in a slot in the cyberlimb - the slot is an enhancement to the cyberlimb (and dependent on it), but the cyberdeck itself is tracked seperately.

If you brick the hand, you loose the cyberdeck slot, and - while the cyberdeck is fine - you loose the power and data connections you need and the thing stops working. If you brick the deck, the hand keeps working fine.

At least, that's how I see it.

The idea would be that modifying a device by adding extra components does not create nested devices - it's one device.

The implanted deck augmentation in your hand is connected directly to your brain via your nervous system. The deck itself can be used as a bridge between your brain and other wireless devices. In short, it provide you with DNI (no need to wear trodes or getting a datajack). If you have an internal cyberdeck then there is also no need for external screens (goggles, contacts etc.) or devices to control augmented reality (such as AR gloves). It is all projected and controlled mentally directly with your brain.

Quote from: SR5 p. 222 Direct Neural Interface (red box)
How do you sign up? You get DNI by wearing trodes, or having an implanted datajack, commlink, or cyberdeck

Besides their wireless functionality, almost all cyberware devices are equipped with a neural interface (not to be confused with DNI) that lets you mentally activate and control their functions.

There is no need to turn your hand wireless ON since you can control it directly with a neural interface. If the deck is fully bricked then you just slide it out, spend a few minutes working on it with toolkit, take a simple hardware test to repair at least one box of matrix damage to recover full functionality and then just slide it back in. No need for cybertechnology, biotechnology, medicine or first aid.

Your entire arm will not stop working if you have: a cybernetic arm, spend 1 capacity on a fingertip compartment, fit a wireless enabled monowhip in it.... and then someone brick your monowhip.

No, but by God do I want to have someone hack a fingertip monowhip and have it unspool while the character is shaking Mr. Johnson's hand.

Fingertip compartments hold items, not mods. It's a poor example.

And this is why I love a Cyberarm for Deckers.
Conceal the Deck & give them better combat stats, all in one.

Going a full Cyberarm does lend itself to what I call the Decker's Surprise, with a deck installed in the arm and the rest taken up by an SMG or even Shotgun. Wherever you go you can deck and fight and too all appearances it's just a standard cyberarm.

A cyberarm with agility 9 that suddenly turn the decker (that have rather low physical attributes) into a master marksman ;)
