I'm under the impression that Ace still has his +4 cover from the sniper nest.  If he was out of cover, I would've spent a Simple Action taking cover last pass, but I'll roll those dice separately.

Dodge: Dodge: 8d6t5 2
+4 from cover: +4 Cover: 4d6t5 0
No help anyway.

Ace is facing 12S +1AP.
He has BOD (5) + Assorted Synthetic Limb Armor (4) + Ares Globetrotter (12) + Ballistic Mask (2) + AP1 (1) = 24 dice
Soak: Soak: 24d6t5 3
That would put him unconscious, so I've got to Edge.
Re-roll Failures: Edge Re-roll: 21d6t5 11
No damage.

Ace is at 0/4 Edge, 6/10 Lancer Ammo, and has 3 on his Stun Track.
Drek, from now on I'm going to have to start Burning Edge.

Chino's gonna drop an Axe Kick on the troll with the grenade launcher.
AGI (4) + Unarmed Combat (6) +Tae Kwon Doe Spec (2) = 12 dice.
Kick Attack: 12d6t5 1
Sigh.  I guess Orokos only likes Edge rolls right now.  Let's give it a shot.
Edge Re-roll: Edge Re-roll: 11d6t5 5
Yep, the logic seems to hold ;) That's 6 hits.  Troll should be at -1 for second defense this pass, and the Kick Attack negates his +1 reach.

Damage is STR (9) + Bone Density Augmentation (4) = 13P -4AP (Penetrating Strike).  Is that right?

Chino is at 1/4 Edge.

@Poindexter 6S/10P is enough damage that it has finally exceeded Sam's damage compensators and he's begun to feel it. If his howling/growling indicates an animal in pain then Katsina might be alerted to Sam's need. But otherwise, yes, I agree that Sam's berserking rage is probably not in the mindset of "call for help".

@Zweiblumen Doc would receive Ace's transmission that he's back online. Whether Doc sees a feed from Ace is up to rednblack.

@rednblack Ace had +4 cover from the drone because of the tree-cover above him. He doesn't have the same from the current shooter because his cover, such as it is, was more for concealment than protection. A few centimeters of snow and a sleeping bag won't have a meaningful impact on the bullets. Also, Ace's use of Full Defense - and, specifically, Agile Defender - suggests that he abandoned his nest to better avoid the drone fire.

Troll defending against Chino: 2 hits

Chino's base damage is 12P (not 13) -4AP, staged up to 16P -4AP with net hits.

Troll soak: 7 hits

Chino lashes out with a devastating axe kick that makes the troll's skull go CRUNCH. The troll takes 9P, which is bad enough on its own, but combined with the 7P from Ace's laser equals 16P. The troll drops like a half-ton of bricks.

12 - The troll that Chino just brained collapses into the snow and stops moving, except for the occasional involuntary twitch

10 - action hidden

1 - action hidden

It isn't immediately obvious how, but the lights and the engine of the Bulldog turn back on. (They had been off previously.) The drone that had been shooting at Ace has fallen silent and is no longer firing.

Targets remaining
non-troll on left flank (taking cover from Ace but vulnerable from behind)
smaller guy on right flank (going toe-to-toe with Bear)
B13 (astral)
Doc Hack (astral)
drone rigger (dumped)
decker (dumped)
roto-drone of some sort (no longer firing)
GMC Bulldog (engine just turned on)

IC posts needed to wrap up CT2 IP1
Sam
Chino
Tecumseh to cap it all off

CT2 IP2
19 - Katsina
17 - Doc
16 - Ace

Katsina's action is somewhat dependent on what Sam does. She doesn't know that Sam has gone berserk (although giving her a war cry might alert her to the possibility) but she does know that Sam is ill-equipped to face Doc Hack. However, she also knows that the van just turned on, and she's not sure how concerned to be about that. So, long story short, I'm going to wait until Sam posts ICly before declaring Katsina's CT2 IP2 actions.

In the meantime, @Zweiblumen and @rednblack You are free to declare and roll for Doc and Ace.

@Tec, so I don't make the same mistake in the future, what is Chino's Unarmed damage based off of?  Also, how are we ruling Called Shots to tires?

Strength (9) + Bone Density IV (3) + Penetrating Strike IV (-4 AP).

Bone Density I gives (Str)P damage, and then additional steps beyond that give +1, so rating IV is worth +3.

A basic called shot (-4 dice + free action) should be enough to plug a tire.

fscking forum ate my initial IC. Grr - it was behaving well enough over the last few weeks that it lured me into a false sense of security so I hadn't edited it elsewhere or copied the post to the clipboard before hitting post...

Anyway, because I forgot earlier:
Peacemaker CT 1 [Charisma 6 + Intuition 4] (3): 10d6t5 4
So he's good to attack things as he pleases. If he had failed that roll, he'd get another at the beginning of this CT due to party members taking physical damage.

Ohanzee's going to have to resort to some odd means of spell casting in order to avoid taking stun damage from drain... Or he might just "pass out" and go astral.

Attack: 7 (8 ) Sleaze: 5 Data Processing: 4 Firewall: 6
Decryption, Signal Scrub, Hammer, Agent

And here is the problem with almost everything in the matrix being a complex action.  I've got a choice, let folks know what's going on or shut down the van.

@Tec, would Doc be able to tell from his data inputs of the battlefield (still don't know if I have a feed from Ace or not) the efficacy of Ace's shot?

If the shot took out a tire, then I'm gonna go ahead and help co-ordinate data.  If he can't tell, he'll try to disable the Van.

WOW, it finally happened. So what IS my penalty right now?

Ok, back on a computer, so I can respond fully.

Strength (9) + Bone Density IV (3) + Penetrating Strike IV (-4 AP).

Bone Density I gives (Str)P damage, and then additional steps beyond that give +1, so rating IV is worth +3.

Perfect, thanks.

I'm going to opt against the Called Shot (Tires), as I'm pretty sure I can do more than 6 damage with the Lancer and have the same effect while working our way toward bricking the thing.

Ace will:
Free: Called Shot (Vitals)
Simple: Take Aim
Simple: Fire Lancer at Bulldog
AGI (9) + Lasers (8) + Smartlink Wireless (2) + Huge (3) + Take Aim (1) - Wound Penalty (1) - Called Shot (4) = 18 dice
Pew Bulldog: 18d6t5 5
Base DV is 7P -10AP staged to 9P -10AP with Called Shot (Vitals), staged to 14P with hits.

It'll be close to hit that -2.

I'm assuming that I can't Take Cover unless I'm standing.  Crawling seems like way more effort than walking, unless Ace is immediately surrounded by good cover opportunities.

Ace is at Lancer ammo 4/10, Edge 0/4

@Zweiblumen It sounds like Ace is giving you his feeds, so you can see what his cybereyes see. For example, Doc can see that Ace shot the guy with the Ares Antioch, and Chino just crunched that same guy's skull with a kick, so the commlink that the Antioch is slaved to probably doesn't need to be hacked.

@Malevolence Sorry about the lost IC post. Those are hugely frustrating. I still find myself copying and pasting my work-in-progress into Notepad, just in case. I had the forum eat a couple posts last week (more accurately, the same post twice), but luckily they were only a few sentences and easy to replicate.

Also note that Ohanzee has somewhat trapped himself in a bubble by activating the Physical Barrier preparation, which limits his selection of available spells to cast.

@Poindexter Probably the best combo for Sam is to ignore 2S+9P, which leaves him (as far as wound modifiers go) with 4S+1P, or -1 die.

@rednblack Ace can probably be in cover while prone, although crawling to get there will be a Complex action.

I'm going back-and-forth on whether to allow for the Huge bonus (+3) in conjunction with targeting vitals (-4). The answer probably depends on what, exactly, Ace is trying to target. Gas tank? Engine block? Is he trying to disable but not destroy the van, or does he want to destroy it?

Remove hits? Huge modifier (+3): 3d6t5 0 hits, well looks like those three dice weren't hits anyway.

Bulldog soak: 7 hits

The Bulldog takes another 7P. Combined with Sam's frag grenade, the Bulldog is now at 19P. The Bulldog's condition monitor goes up to 20 so it's at the edge of oblivion.

19 - Katsina thinks that Sam sounds like he's doing fine, and the van doesn't seem like an immediate threat, so she's going to try to finish off B13.

Katsina astral combat: Willpower 5 + Astral Combat 3 + Spec 2 + Focus 2: 12d6t5 4 hits

B13 defense: 3 hits, so close
B13 soaking 8P: 2 hits

B13 takes 6P. Combined with the 9P of damage Katsina did previously, he/it is now at 15P. He/It is disrupted and returns to his/its native metaplane.

I had assumed they would stack as the vitals on a Jumbo Jet Engine (+3) are larger than that on a troll (+2), which are larger than those on a small drone (-1).  But, you could get some weird stuff too.  Like shooting a door hinge or security keypad is -2, but how would you target vitals on a door hinge?  Hitting the bolt as opposed to the plate, maybe?  I agree, it's kind of weird.  In this case, Ace is looking to disable the Bulldog, so straight into the engine block is the target.

Control Thoughts and Trid Phantasm are still available. That or astral combat if he decides to leave his body unattended in a hostile situation. But yeah, Fireball is out. I'm a little disappointed that Ohanzee has Clout instead of Stunbolt, but it is what it is.

All the doors on the Bulldog are closed, right? So the only visibility to the inside is through the hole Katsina made?

@rednblack Stacking called shots for vitals and RG2 rules leads to some implications that make me wary. For example, say someone with the Sharpshooter quality (-2 called shots) goes up against a troll (+2 to hit due to size). That basically means that a sharpshooter has a permanent +2 DV against trolls or anything larger. Sure, troll hearts and brains are big, but are they so large that they look as big as a full metahuman (i.e. no shooting penalty) to a sharpshooter? As with all things in this game, it comes down to the rules being an abstraction of reality and some of the incongruities that creates.

@Malevolence Yes, Control Thoughts and Trid Phantasm will both work. I just wanted to make sure Ohanzee didn't broil himself alive with a Fireball. And, yes, the doors of the Bulldog are all closed. The windshield is the only visibility inside. Ohanzee has a good angle to see through the front, although he can't see anyone inside other than the mangled magician.

Sorry, I'm very out of it today.

Doc's gonna spend a complex action relaying information to the team.  I'll get it written up later tonight and posted.  Gist is that rigger and decker are off-line and that he's going to start disabling the OpForce's weapons/comms
