So, had an interesting idea today for a character... well, actually two characters that work together as a unit. Anyone at all familiar with Beyond Thunderdome should be able to instantly see where this is going.
Master: An AI decker, the brains and Matrix side of the partnership. Master handles Matrix overwatch and various shenanigans when not involved in a full time hack. Its home device is a cyberdeck that's implanted into...
Blaster: A troll street samurai. The brawn and mobility of the partnership. Blaster is tough-as-nails and no slouch in a firefight. If Master requires a direct connection he will eject the cyberdeck and hook Master up, then defend Master with his life.
Would be really interesting to see the byplay between the two characters... Master provides matrix security to Blaster, requiring little to no gear itself it can easily protect Blaster's gear for him. Blaster provides mobility and physical protection to Master, also performing the regular maintenance the cyberdeck will require to run Master. Overall a fairly symbiotic relationship between the two characters, when Master is implanted into Blaster they would have instant mental communication... as well as sharing each others woes. A heavy static zone that negatively impacts on Master, would give Blaster a headache, if Blaster is drugged then Master would feel an echo of the effects.
Technically it could be done with Blaster simply lugging Master's cyberdeck around with very little lost to the idea... but I do like the extra step the implanted cyberdeck takes the idea.
