I'm looking to create a character with a bit more cash than I normally have and I'm torn between four vehicles (unfortuantely with my other purchases the Rover 2072 is out of my range). . .

Ford America
Pros
Common, unassuming and wont draw attention.
Plenty of room
Front seats can fold back for those long night surveilance giving a bit more comfort.
Cheapest option.

Nissan Journey/Honda Artemis
Pros
Common, unassuming and wont draw attention.
Reasonable room
Front seats can fold back for those long night surveilance giving a bit more comfort.
Can be modified to imitate law enforcement vehicles if necessary
Cons
Both 1k more expensive than the americar

Either one or the other, probably the nissan as its slightly better offroad handling

Toyota Gopher
Presumably common, unassuming and wont draw attention.
Is designed for offroad capability so has much better handling
Decent storage room
Has long life batteries and emergency solar (nice to run the AC on sunny days or watch a film without draining the battery)
Cons
Most expensive option
Not as comfortable to spend a long time in

Also related to the gopher periphally I was just browsing through the packs and noticed the offroad pack is listed at 40,000 or 20 karma but the toyota gopher and growler only costs 30,000 so is this just a misprinted price or is that extra 10k for offroad capability?

The offroad pack might be a mistake if the difference is that big. SR5 doesn't have off-road suspension or tire upgrades (yet?), so the only real difference is in terms of the listed off-road handling.

To my mind, these three vehicles have very different uses.
Ford America: good all-around on-road vehicle with plenty of storage space (smuggling compartment is your friend, even if it's just used to hide your illegal gear). Decent body and armor, but slowest speed and acceleration of all the choices. Good in pretty much any locale.

Nissan Journey/Honda Artemis: more dedicated pursuit type vehicles with higher acceleration, but suffers from lower body and armor values. Great in more city-oriented locales.

Toyota Gopher: decidedly best handling characteristics overall, and highest top speed but slow acceleration. Perfect for when you occasionally need to rough it out in the Barrens or in rural areas.

I was wondering if it was a left over price from a larger pack e.g. including a satellite phone for commlink access from out in the wilderness, a month's squatter lifestyle etc just worded it badly.

Yep pretty much what I thought just not sure what one I want. Speed's not so much an issue as this is a get around to meets, locations style vehicle not so much a lug huge amounts of dangerous gear to the site or a getaway vehicle. I'm leaning towards either the americar or the gopher as I don't want to be struggling if I need to get to a place in the barrens or make a run for the countryside and if it is used as a fake LE vehicle its going to be best to dump it afterwards.

Problem is price vs function the americar and gopher both have the same acceleration and its not so far below the other two and equal to the Rover I can't afford (yet). Right now the gopher's ahead in the function option (good for barrens, offroad rural use and handling in general plus better chance of it not dying when your away from a charge point) while the americar wins on the cost and comfort options. Hard call for me to make.

Consider your piloting skill in terms of when handling will ever become a problem, realistically, and the fact that you can get +1 Handling for just using AR (SR5 page 201). You can also use Edge to break the limit, so really, the Americar will do nicely in most locations. If you really end up needing a limit of 6 (or more, necessitating Edge) on a frequent basis, you probably need to be a dedicated rigger with control rigs, as those opposed tests/thresholds are going to be hard to hit.

Thanks, guess I'll just claim this is an offroad americar with long life batteries and solar panels.
