Hey guys!

One of my players wants to know if the wolf +2 to combat spells/preperations/rituals would also apply to the combat spirit of the tradition.

In other words if you were playing an aspected magician (summoner), druid tradition, and took wolf mentor spirit, would you get +2 bonus for summoning combat spirits (beast).

As he is aspected, I am tempted to allow it, but I thought I would see what the RAW makes it out to be.

I don't believe the bonus applies; those associations between Tradition > Spirit > Spell Type is for dictating which spirits can aid you with which spells. (EG; a tradition whom has Combat: Earth, can have its earthspirits help mages with Combat Spells.)

That said, for a Summoner-Aspect mage? It seems like a good way to make the bonus worthwhile; since he won't haveCombat Spells himself.

By the RAW, no. Summoning is not a spell, preparation, or ritual.

Why not just make it a +2 to summon Spirits of Beasts for him?

Playability > verisimilitude.

By RAW, no he wouldn't get any bonus other then the skill for Wolf as an aspected summoner.

By the rule of being a cool GM, I'd say go ahead and let him have the bonus on spirits instead. It's not exactly going to brake the game to switch that bonus up.

Eagle gives bonus for summoning spirits of air - there shouldn't be a problem with a mentor that gives bonus to spirits of beasts.
