We actually jumped in because the antivirus started going crazy in there just because we connected it to modern day devices... it was quite a technical challenge to do even this. Nobody today knows what it means to authenticate the hardware - our stuff just interact with any other stuff. We do not even think about it. Apparently that computer - do not just interact with things - even if we could get lower level drivers to work with our hardware - the antivirus was not convinced it got suspicious and after a while -  when it tried many things and put our hardware in many tests it decided that the best way was to just destroy all the data. This was why we rushed in and are now trying to extract the anti virus code.
 We believe it can teach us a lot about security - when adopted to modern technology - no GOD today can identify the deck itself as hostile just for being connected to the server. Today you have to do hostile stuff to be identified hostile "

"Well, it does look like one or more of you all needs to go in and get people out, and then disconnect all of the incompatible hardware once that's done," Serge responds, "As I said, I need to remain out here to monitor conditions of those within."

@Amy gives you the 'look': "Boy... we replaced almost everything... without nowadays technology this computer is just a useless piece of plastics. This piece is lost but there are 20 more where it come from and if I learn enough about their anti virus, perhaps next time I can cheat it. This retro-techno drek is not easy, there is no one to learn from. 20 12 is history - I don't know anything that I can do that can save it - in a way that it is still accessible"

Papa frowned with a huh.. "You know, I'm not a hacker right? I can do some software editing, or google search, even build a deck or two. But what I can't do is crack code, engage in cyberwarfare or the like beyond running away. "

@Amy tells you "Well - none of us with all the fancy cyebercombat techniques can't even approach him, we are all out done by that anti virus.  If you see Zombies just run - run as fast as you can and never look back. This is what we all do now, there are just too many of them - and when you kill one the rest of them are drawn to your location.  Only Mango continue killing them - but he is stronger than any of us - he is a technomancer, a demi god in that world." She sighs - "Look guys, I didn't ask you to visit us and risk your life on some rescue mission - you showed up in here uninvited after going through different defenses we had - only to fetch your favorite technomancer - that we already know he is a KE, it is only because I have some compassion that I do not pull his plug - because I really should have. If you want to pull his plug yourself be my guest, that betrayer deserves it."

Passively listening on the conversation and smoking all the while.  Maxwell has no damn clue on the Matrix or other technical stuff for that matter.  After hearing Amy's words on the subject and on what to do, Maxwell chimes in and says: "Well we can't leave empty handed.  We need to unplug Mango and bring him with us.  I'd rather not give the guy brain damage but it seems we don't have much choice."

Okay guys I need a decision, either you go in to 20 12 for a rescue mission.
Or you unplug Mango - but this stalemate is not doing us much good.

Lighting a cigarette, Serge gives a nod, "While I don't like the risk of brain damage, none of us have the capability to really do much inside the system. Give me a few minutes to prepare medically so I can attempt to minimize those risks."


Not sure what I need exactly to be able to prepare to minimize the brain damage risks, but I think that Cybertechnology and Medicine may be good starts, so I'm attempting rolls of those skills here.

@Serge there is a significant body of research about what is called hot disconnect. Where people are unplugged from foundations in a violent way. It usually makes them vegetables - that is completely destroy their higher brain functions, leaving them technically alive but practically dead.

In the last revision of science, there was a research paper that tested apes and managed to keep damage to a minimum by making their body unconscious in a coma induced stage.  Theoretically they claim that, at that state of awareness  their interaction with the deep simulation is minimal and therefore the damage suffered is mainly to the body while the brain usually remains intact.

Your knowledge in medicine allows you to create this kind of stage but you will need quite unorthodox drugs to do so, they are found in hospitals but are not sold to private people, and have no use for regular shadowrunners.

Another alternative is to improvise with deep-weed - that you can somehow obtain if you know a good talismonger.  You believe that its general operation will put Mango in a similar comma induced state.  It will even make an interesting followup research paper if it actually work. (You estimate that it is likely to work from your knowledge of the medicine their use in comparison with deep-weed).

"Anyone happen to have any deep-weed?" Serge asks, "I should be able to manage with that or something very similar. That is unless there's a stock of some very rare and powerful pharmaceuticals carefully controlled by hospitals lying around somewhere."

Maxwell turns to Serge and says: "I don't have any weed on me but I know a guy who might.  Let me send him a message and see if he does and to see if he's even up at this hour."

@Papa Midnight: <<I know this is an odd time but do you have any Deep Weed?  If you do then I'll swing by your shop and pick some up.  I'll pay you for it too.>>

He texts you back >> Sure no problem, I can have some deepweed for you in 24 hours. I don't keep that stuff on my store you see, I have to talk to some people.

Reading the text both elates and annoys Maxwell.  "It'd be too easy if he had it on hand."  Maxwell lets out a sigh then a hacking cough.  Seeing no point to delay the news, Maxwell responds: "Well I got good news and bad news.  Good news is that my friend will have some Deep Weed for us.  Bad news is that it'll take 24 hours before he'll have some stocked.  So I suggest we reconvene here tomorrow and call it a night."

@Amy - "Any chance you could let us come by tomorrow night.  This time without a battery of traps and drones."  Maxwell gives her a honest smile and does his best to not look like a bad guy.
