I have a character who is a bit of a jack of all trades

He has a logic of 8, a Intuition of 6, Hacking group 4, Computer 2 (Spec in Matrix Perception) and edge 5 (He also has a Init of 11+4d6)

My current "deck" is FW 5, DP 5, At 3, Sl 1 (actually a modded comlink).  Do you think it is worth the two condition boxes to raise sleeze (Yes saving for a real deck).  The character is primarily a VR decker type.  Ran one session but never got a chance to deck.  I am a backup for the technomaner BTW

Personally, I'd suggest going the other route. Get the best Commlink you can afford (DR 6 at CharGen) and plug in the best Stealth Dongle you can afford. Then mod for an Attack rating of 1. You could potentially start with Attack 1, Sleaze 6, Data Process 6, Firewall 6.

Sleaze is a far better stat to have, especially if you're just a backup hacker for the TM. Sleaze is what helps you avoid detection, if you're Running Silent and someone is trying to find you with Matrix Perception. Sleaze actions, if successful, go completely unnoticed. Even if you succeed at an Attack action, the target knows they're under attack. And if you fail an Attack action, you end up inflicting Matrix damage back onto yourself.

Personally for a back up hacker I'd go with a Commlink with a Sleaze Dongle, modded with a Program Carrier (Smoke and Mirrors) and then use all the assorted stacking noise reduction to deal with the penalty from Smoke and Mirrors.  If you run into an Encrypted file, throw a point of edge to ignore limits.  If you're the back up you shouldn't be expected to get into Matrix dogfights anyway.

So at Chargen Transys Avalon with a Sleaze Dongle 2 or 3, Program Carrier Mod (Smoke and Mirrors), couple Data Jacks, Three Antenna.  After a run or two pick up a Fresnel Fabric Cloak.  Fresnel Fabric is from Run and Gun, Cloak from Hard Targets.  FW/DP of 5 and Sleaze of 7 or 8 is more than a back up should ever need.  As a bonus you can run one heck of a PAN.  15 devices with 15ish dice to resist Matrix Perception when running Silent.  Honestly, given that your main hacker is a Technomancer your PAN is probably going to be the best thing you have to offer the team.

the characters name is Back Up...and that is what he does.  The character is all over the place (So back up decker is just one of his back up duties).  Do to his hindrances he is not big on being sneaky, thus why I went with attack.  Will think about changing over to sleeze instead however.  My big question is after I mod the com to take the other attribute (DW/FW is inherent, then a dongle) should I take the permenant matrix damage to make it a 2, or keep it at 1.  Also does rather I change it to Sleeze modify this any.  We do not allow ignore limits to give comlinks hacking abilities it does not have BTW (So I would at least need a 1)
