Just idle musing on a Christmas day which trust fund if you could get one would people prefer in real life (comparable values e.g. medium is medium for where you live and nuyen to x is comparable value not actual I.e. 1000 nuyen is not 1000 yen but a comparable amount for Japan to get that value).

I'm assuming we can ignore the first two levels as there's a better medium and why take low when you can get high or medium? Obviously if for some reason you do want the low take it. So which would people prefer if you were being given this high lifestyle with less spending money each month but all the perks of that lifestyle or a medium one with more spending money each month? For the purposes of this assume it's the base lifestyle description no need to worry about points to buy a yard or internet subscription.

Me I'd take the medium. I'm not that much for the fancier things in life and I'd rather have more money each month to pay for movies, a new car, a Better computer or just to put back into the bank account for a rainy day.

For a shadowrun character, I would prefer the flexibility of the lower lifestyle and more ready cash.  For me, personally, though, I would take the high lifestyle option.  The basic high lifestyle has more room, better security, a quiet neighborhood, more help (housekeeping, etc.) with day to day living - and the base lifestyle includes comforts and entertainment.  Sure, the "allowance" is smaller (although 1,000 a month free and clear is still a decent sum), but conversely, more expenses (Netflix subscription, eating out at a restaurant, etc.) would be folded in under the base lifestyle cost.

Hmmmm good point about the expenses being folded in. I'm interested in what people would want for themselves as in you in real life at the moment not a character.

Depends on how open you want to be about it.
If you want to fake a somewhat normal existence you go for the middle one. If you don't care what others think about you eating lobster without having to work for it, go for the high life style.

In today's time I would go for the middle one as security is not that big of a concern.
In the future of SR I'd take the high style for better protection. Even when I would be a runner and quite skilled protecting myself. It is bothersome and tiring to be constantly alerted. Especially when you are astrally incompetent aka mundane.
Please excuse my English as it is not my first language. Misunderstandings are inevitable and smell peachy enough to be forgiven. Thank you :)
