Let me know if you think these ideas would be interesting.

1. This one has obviously been considered at some point but what about a Game Master Guide? I think it would be a really awesome resource to have and I liked the GM section in SR5 quite a lot. I'd love to gain more insight and have a dedicated resource to peruse before sessions and campaigns.

2. A book all about the iconic Stuffer Shack. This book would provide extensive details on products. I think it is so immersive to hear the names of products and know what they are. Things like Nerps or whitebright gum. There are tons of little things like this in the books but very little information on them. It would be so awesome to have a good idea of what my runners or npcs pick up at stuffer shacks. A lot of the items would just be roleplaying tools but there could even be some products that shadowrunners use. Imagine having to make an emergency trip to the stuffer shacker before you disappear for a while. You might grabs some bandaids, granola bars, instant noodles, duct tape, some basic medicine, etc. It would be really amazing to have a high quality book on this topic and I think it would be the perfect length for a pdf.

Thanks!

That first one sounds an awful lot like Run Faster as it has lots of cool resources for the world at large.  The other one, exact products I'm ok with leaving to the imagination at large, though I'd still probably read a fan book if someone ever made it.

One of the freelancers (Canray, I think) has floated the idea. Is foating the idea. No traction yet as far as I can tell. The main argument against it is that the rule book already has a big GM section.

For the second "book", that sounds more like a section in an "Attitude" style book, couple pages at most. It could be generalized into some sort of "Attitude" style ebook. I don't know. On one hand, fluff books don't sell, but on the other, the PDF line is basically made for fluff pet projects with a lot less worry about what's going to sell. Shrug.

Damn, apparently my reply didn't get posted. I'm really interested in the second suggestion. It's a lot of culture we miss out on, so please, go ahead! Maybe it can cover the more legal aspects of Shadowrun?

Thanks for your input, everyone. You have all made some good points. I was unaware that fluff books didn't sell well but I suppoes that makes a lot of sense, as unfortunate as it may be. Fluff books retain their value and I always want more, especially physical copies but I would settle for pdfs if I had to.  It's true that game master advice is spread out in various books, sometimes featuring fairly large sections, but there hasn't been a book completely dedicated to it. There are so many interesting things you could put inside that book, such as how to design shadowrun campaigns in more depth, guidelines for maintaining a good pace during sessions, how to handle black market shops, actual details on the fencing loot (a huge topic for ages), fully made safehouses ready for play, rules for creating custom gear such, proper rules for creating drugs (Chrome Flesh was on the right track but it missed the mark badly), etc. There are tons of awesome things you could put in that book, I can't imagine not buying it. It could easily have a large amount of crunch.

The Stuffer Shack book would be an automatic purchase for me. I would love to know more information about actual products in the world. I can make up as many as I want but I would rather have more immersion and actually know about brands of soda, potato chips, chewing gum, cigarettes, etc. It would be a roleplayer's dream. Yeah, I know a lot of people wouldn't buy it but this would be amazing for people like me. It would also be useful for the writers too because they'd actually have a nice reference material, right now this sort of information is smattered about in every nook and cranny of the shadows. Even if it couldn't feasibly exist as a pdf, would any of the writers like to take this on as a service to the community? We could have it added as a free resource in the download section of the main website, in the same token as the Big D's Will. It would be a bit of a project to scour all the books but it would be really awesome in the end!

And one thing I'd like to note about fluff books, Attitude continues to be amongst the most expensive Shadowrun books on many websites and it's a softcover. So there has to be some interest, right? :) Anyway, I will buy ALL useful fluff books, give them to me! =)

I quite like the idea of a GM guide...though the comments others have posted are valid. I've always felt the SR games/sessions have quite a different structure to them...requires somewhat of a transition if one is used to playing PF, D&D, etc. I really like the Plots & Paydata section of the Alphaware boxed set (they did something similar for 4e as well) as it helps outline and describe the structure of a session. I've always been a sucker for AAR (from my ASL days)...hmmm... ;) That being said, not sure how viable this would be as a commercial product...

I love the idea around the Stuffer Shack, but think that it would be much better as a series...Stuffer Shack, Clinic, Gun Mart, etc....iconic locations that can be dropped into any campaign.

Would be nice, but never gonna happen.

1.  It's really hard to write a neutral GM Guide.

2.  This could easily be done.

One massive book would be better here, I think (probably around 100 pages larger than the core book). It could simply be titled 'Iconic Locations' or whatever the freelancer creativity thinks up.

Actually, I think it would probably sell better (and be cheaper to produce) as a series of short PDF only books. In a big, centralized book, you're going to be looking at, what, 10 pages, maybe, directed at any one place? If that? A 20-30 page book just on Stuffer Shack, including a couple maps, plot hooks, and maybe even a guide if you want to have a franchise as your cover... Well, it would be more bang for your buck, and at less cost to the devs.

Thanks for keeping this hope alive by posting ^_^ I would just love to see these books hit the market in one form or another. There is so much sweet material to be covered here.

I just thought of another book idea- wouldn't take them much effort either... the guns/vehicles from gun heaven 2 and used car lots that haven't made it into SR5 yet- put them in one pdf with updated SR5 stats for them....

Ironically, if you speak German, you can pick up the Pegasus Press releases...they've been converted.

Even if you don't speak German, you'll probably be able to make sense of the stat lines ;)
