Ok I've always thought you could summon spirits used to a task as there are entire realms described that mirror reality e.g. you can find a secretary spirit to organize things if you really wanted to use magic for that but I still thought of them as spirits vs people that is they just weren't interested in the seamier side of life. However last night I was re-reading a dresden novel and it got me thinking is there really any reason if your gamers are mature enough something like that couldn't happen. For example your trying to summon someone like Alfred from Batman as an ally spirit wise, composed, very calm and willing to warn you if they think your making a mistake. Only to wind up with someone like Bob from the Dresden files instead wise, composed (usually) and constantly slipping off to the beach to admire the girls in their tight swimsuits or the victoria's secret modelling show? Similarly you could wind up with someone like Yoko from inukami who's sweet, kind, constantly trying to improve your relationship by having you brush her hair/fur or go for walks but who's quite willing to toss you out onto the street naked as a punishment if you act like a pervert (the theory being in the show the police lock the guy up for streaking)?
On another note there are a lot of magicians following the various different paths who have a mentor spirit and I was wondeing would it always be THE mentor spirit or A mentor spirit. That is do all the followers of Coyote have Coyote guiding and advising them or do they get an aspect/avatar/child/similar coyote who is able to do all the things that the mentor spirit trait gives but who are a lesser spirit as it were. So rather than Coyote himself showing up to average mage bob to offer advice (which given he's coyote may not have quite the effect bob's hoping for if followed) or could Bob's Coyote mentor spirit actually be an adorable little ragamuffin of a coyote called Dust in the Winds who loves playing tricks on anyone he can instead?
