I was looking at Drakes and the different types there (Western, eastern, Aztec, sea) got me thinking how wide spread have these metatypes become. They used to be tied to a specific country but we've had decades of people travelling and intermingling all over the world when their meta-humam nature was suppressed. So how wide spread are these sub types in the world e.g. Fomor, Oni. Goblins and the like. For instance could a Fomor pop up in the heart of Australia or an Oni in new York (outside of player characters) and get little more attention than the more common Troll, Dwarf, etc?

They can pop up anywhere tis true but mostly they show up where they are supposed to.

Drakes are certainly a different level of "rarity" to the "Ethnic" meta-variants. I suspect that the average lay folk would not be able to name most of the "ethnic" meta variants, but i do think they would probably correctly sort them into their meta-sub type. IE If they saw a Dryiad they would still likely be classify it as "weird looking elf". There are probably a couple exceptions to this, Giants iirc don't have horns, and bark like skin isn't really the same as troll hide, so I'm not sure what folk would make of those.  Possibly just based upon size they might get it right but that seems harder to me.

Yes at this point any of the meta variants can pop up anywhere, most likely in the ethnic group they are related too. Soo your Oni in new york is proppabbly hailing from the Little Tokyo neighborhood. Most meta variants out side of the part of the world where they are most common would probably get distinctive features in my book, but not terribly remarked upon over all. Distinctive features to represent when you go looking for the Oni ect in little Tokyo its gonna be easier cause while there might be 20k people there and even 3 or 4k orks its a decent bet that there is less then 100 Oni.

Unless they are incredibly freakish and making no attempts to blend in socially or culturally I dont think they get treated any worse then the base meta type. I mean a Giant in his barrens clothes is gonna draw as much attention as a normal vanilla troll in his barrens clothes would in a higher lifestyle neighborhood, but then hes not dressed appropriately for that area and will stick out. Also take into account that body modification is common place and wide spread in almost any of the non high end corporate cultures. I am mean cosmetic body modding, like extensive tattoos or making your self have cat ears and eyes etc. Just look at the art, if its not some moderately high ranking corp character its hard to find a normal (For us) looking character they all have tats, dyed hair ect.

Ok thanks for the help. I can work with any metatype can show up anywhere but they'll get the same reaction a cute girl does when she walks by a bunch of guy's who drop whatever they're doing and stare after her till she's out of sight.
