I have read through the example on pg. 283 of the 5th edition core rulebook several times and the part that reads:

One of the gangers has cornered Rikki the Rat Shaman, so Rikki has no choice but to throw down some mojo on him. Since there’s only one, he casts Manabolt at Force 4. With Magic 5 and Spellcasting 4, Rikki gets 4 hits while the ganger with his Willpower 3 manages to get 1 hit. This means that the ganger takes 3 points of Stun damage (equal to Rikki’s net hits since this is a Direct Combat spell). The ganger gets no resistance and no dodge.

Manabolt does physical damage according to the description. Should the example read Stunbolt for stun damage or am I missing something?  Did I miss something in the errata that has corrected the example changing Manabolt to Stunbolt or Stun damage to Physical damage?

Examples occasionally have mistakes, assume they used the wrong spell/damage type. I'd assume Stunbolt, since that's what is used by the archetype character. Might have accidentally written down the wrong spell, since Manabolt doesn't sound physical if you're not used to the names.
How am I not part of the forum?? O_O I am both active and angry!

Part of this a naming change that the author might not have kept up with too.

Manabolt used to be the 'stun' damage mana spell while Powerbolt was the physical damage mana spell....
Where am I going? And why am I in a hand basket ???

Remember: You can't fix Stupid. But you can beat on it with a 2x4 until it smartens up! Or dies.

Your responses make sense.  I saw the misprint and didn't see anything in errata and with me coming back to the game after such a long time away I was confused and thought maybe I missed something with the mechanics. Thanks again everybody.

What edition was that?

ManaBolt has always been physical damage but only to living objects where PowerBolt could shatter a door as well as a person.

The "Sleep" line was always STUNbolt afaik.
