So, I'm currently trying to build a Decker, but I have a hard time figuring out what the ASDF stats are useful for, in this edition, since Limits aren't a thing anymore.
Data-Processing is used in Initiative so it's still useful.
Firewall you roll against almost all attacks or hacking attempts, so clearly that's also useful.
But there's almost nothing I find where Attack or Sleaze are used.
Sleaze has a use as part of the Dicepool to stay hidden when running Silent, and resisting Trace Icon, but that's really all I found.
I didn't find a single actual use of the Attack attribute.
However if one of them is lower than the other you take a penalty when using the lower of the two. That leads to rather ridiculous situations like this:
Say I have ASDF stats of 8/7/3/3, and I plan to do mainly hacking inside the host. I could go with FW 8, Sleaze 7, DP and Attack 3. But if I get attacked or need to use an Attack action, I suddenly have a -4 dice on those tests. If I flip DP and Sleaze, though, I am not really any worse at the whole hacking part but don't take the penalty. Which is just pretty insane.
So am I missing anything or is there a good reason to not "dump" Sleaze and Attack, if you're a bit short on cash?
Edit: Just to clarify, when I say "dump", I'm talking about taking the R4 Cyberjack for 95k, and 7/6 stats, and the MCT 360 for another 95k for 6/5 stats. So 7/6/6/5 total or something not necessarily going with device rating 1 stuff. But I also won't go R6 Cyberjack with the Cyber-6 like the Archetype Decker does.
