Dark night over Seattle. Fine rain falls steadily since this afternoon, and a thin mist curtain cuts out the skyscraper's shapes, shading the sprawl landscape.
Slightly wet because of rain, Tenzin gets to the main Inferno's entrance, located at the intersection of Fifth Avenue to Madison Street. There was a short walk from Panama Motel, located down the Fifth Avenue, just a half mile away. Pros of living downtown...

Vitaly Makarov, one street dealer closely linked to the Russian Vory V Zakone he worked for sometimes, had messaged him a few days ago and commented that he had heard fresh news about a Johnson looking some fresh meat to play well-paid job.
Very short of money since his arrival in Seattle, and the possibility of getting some Nuyens in his pocket must never be wasted. The motel room was sweeping out much of his income, and then there was the damn outstanding debt to the Vory, for the money they advanced him to purchase his ticket to Seattle.
Today in the morning Tenzin had received another message, giving appointment for midnight at Dante's Inferno club, and a digital direct access VIP pass attached.

The Inferno was the top hotpspot in Seattle nightworld; Tenzin knew that the ambience of the trendy bar was inspired by the deadly sins described in the work of Dante Aligheri, and that there was sister clubs in Hong Kong and London. The one in Hong Kong was told to have Buddhist ambience, but Tenzin didn't get the chance to get in during his days in Southeast Asia.
He was wearing his best clothes to attend the Inferno. Not every night you can access the most fashionable club in the sprawl. He had chosen his beige suit and linen look fabric with Mortimer signature, composed of two parts: loose pants and a kind of knee-length straight coat on an orange t-shirt.
Standing on the sidewalk opposite the main entrance, where a long waiting line had already formed and climbed the wrought-iron staircases spiraling to the ninth floor of the building, which housed the local public access, Tenzin verified that the two ceramic knives were well hidden in the recesses of the suit, and placed the bronze sword on his back. Made it sure that the two Predator IV, in separate quick draw holsters to the height of the thighs, had a magazine inserted. And crossed the street towards the Inferno...

Tenzin ignored the end of the line, and continued walking towards a glass door labeled VIP; he pinged the club node and submitted in the VIP pass he had received in the morning from Makarov; after pass reconnaissance, the glass door opened, and Tenzin could walk into a little cabinet, under the envious eye of all those waiting their turn to enter the local (or not, who knows ...), supporting the fine rain of the night in Seattle.
The cabinet proved to be a glass paneled lift, which rose to the heights of the building, offering Tenzin the wonderful vision of  ghosthly lights at Seattle port glimmering across the fine mist reigning.
When the lift reached the ninth floor, a door was opened at the opposite end of lift to that for which he accessed from the street, and Tenzin walked into a welcome hall, where two orc janitors proved again his identity and presence in the VIP list for tonight. In that list he appeared as Liang Tzu, wageslave at Wuxing Corp.
Tenzin walked a few meters along a corridor lined with neon-white on the floor and ceiling, and crossed the glass door which gave access into the Inferno's ninth floor. A sea of sounds, colors, AR projections floating above the dance floor and moving bodies that strove to keep the club rhythm hit the image link in his contact lenses. The two janitors had instructed him to go to a private cabin on the fourth floor of the club, five below where it was. Tenzin went down the spiral ramps connecting the various levels of the Inferno, admiring the beautiful setting of each of them: Lust, Anger, Greed ... and so reached the fourth level, Envy, arriving just in time to see how a group of people was going through the open doors of the cabinet that was identified in the local map superimposed on his AR as the place where he should attend to.
Tenzin picked up the pace, and reached the door of the booth when they were about to be closed. Without a word, bowed slightly as a respectful greeting and leaned against the wall, right next door had just closed behind him.

Well, such theories there are...and I hope we will not have to find this out by ourselves. I think they qwould be kept in cages and fences. Big cages and electrified fences, I hope...our target is that man, sot some terminator rex

Waiting for the Johnson's reply, Silk allowed herself a moment to look at the guys in the room she hadn't yet talked to.
Juicer had introduced himself as a hunter and sniper; considering she'd just heard the new job would involve dinosaurs -just my luck, the first run and facing things that could accidentally step on me on those moment's they're not hungry enough to be hunting me- and that he seemed to be behaving quite professional -to her opinion- his presence gave her some relief.
The second one had slipped in just in time. Asian elf, his elven pointy ears clearly visible. Hadn't said a word yet... dressed very nice... but still looked like he'd escaped from a monastery; only monks or military guys had that haircut, it looked equally outdated on both. Gods, tell me this guy understands English. Some of those monks live isolated enough to still believe dragons are a thing to believe in instead of to run from.

Going to invite the new guy to this channel, hope he understands a word of what I say.

She concentrated on her voice, bending it straight towards his ears, her lips and vocal cords barely moving but delivering the message audible only to him. It was immediately followed by a link to the channel sent to his comm.
"Hey, didn't see you inside, you should probably join the encrypted channel, password's Whiskey. Share your thoughts... or your name, for that matter."

Her eyes moved back and focused on the Johnson... hoping not to find him lying through his teeth.

Mr Johnson simply nods, but doesn't shake hands, his being conveniently full of cigar and brandy.

"Within two weeks, at the latest; they're open for business, but the grand openings and celebrations haven't taken place yet.  As for Dr. Riley, we haven't had the opportunity to open negotiations with him.  Persuasion may be required."

Looking up info on either Marcus Riley or Mr Johnson is going to take a longer extended test than at the meeting.  All of these searches will need to wait for the conversation to move along, though; it takes time to search and process the information.

As for the island, you find its website fairly quickly; there's a downloadable tourist map, very vague, mostly a list of amenities, current and planned.

Deadline sounds okay, I guess. Wouldn't want to be there working the shadows during a grand opening anyway.
She allowed the beginning of a faint smile to form and let out a quiet but audible "mm hmm" when Mr. Johnson mentioned the deadline, but her face immediately lost that newfound kindness and even turned towards the opposite when the researcher was mentioned.
She hadn't expected anything else, of course. But by having created the illusion that there could exist such a thing as good news on this topic, anything else automatically meant bad news by comparison and thus meant another ace to play in the battle of wits she so enjoyed playing.
Feint left, right hook, points for me. That'll teach him to try and underpay us... and for lighting that damned cigar. Mental note: try setting up meetings in non-smoking areas.
"I understand. But I'm certain retrieving the package won't be a problem." There might've been more stress on the word problem than on the denial of it. "Some surface bruises or scratches shouldn't be an issue as long as the it's able to perform its function."
In the movies, shadowrunners always talked about these things like their targets were simple packages; she'd always wondered if she could do that herself. It came surprisingly natural.

She sent an encrypted message to the group while she fished a pack of cigarettes out of her pockets, pulled one out, placed it between her lips and sent the Johnson the universally accepted thumb-twitching signal for a light.

He's certainly going to end up paying more, and he knows it. I'm thinking, 105k, plus expenses, another five per person? Too much, too little? Could turn out to be less if he gives us something we could use.

She accepted the light and smiled thankfully after inhaling deeply.

"You know, this job could be a lot less problematic if you were able to provide us with something useful, information, or better yet, an inside contact. I'm sure you understand the difficulties and costs associated with the necessary arrangements that would have to be made to assure safe and inconspicuous transport on and off a corp-owned island...", she said in a matter-of-fact tone of voice.
Come on you stingy bastard, here's your chance to cut down costs a bit, give us something.

He lights the cigarette with an old, well-used lighter.  "Blunt, but true.  Don't be too rough on him; they don't work so well when they're rattled.  We want to hire him, of course."
"We'll want all of the research data Dr. Riley's team has put together, both on dinosaurs and biodrones; don't want to handicap him when he works for us.  Even if it's not directly related to the project, it might still be paydata."
"And delete their copies, of course." He pauses to consult his comlink.  "We can offer you a bonus if you manage to sabotage them enough delay their grand opening for at least...a month.  An extra thirtyfive thousand at the end of one month."

"Unfortunately, we haven't managed to sneak an agent onto the island, yet." he admits.  "I can get you tickets, easily enough, but as for your extraction...well, there is a well stocked helipad, I believe." he takes another puff.  "But, I know a few people with boats, if you need another exit.

Silk, he still seems open to negotiation; he'd be happy if you settled for this, but he wouldn't be too brokenhearted if you bargained for more.
Marcus Riley is valuable, but perhaps as importantly, whoever's backing the island has sunk a lot of money into it.

The visitor's center, the marina, the hotels, and most of the amenities are along the south shore of the island.  There's a zoo planned to extend to the eastern shore, and scenic lookouts around the mountain.
And it seems the nuts and bolts of the operation are all on the north end, from the industrial docks and currently inoperative geothermal plant, to the control center and production facility on the north side of mountain.
Shadowrunners are reminded that the Fashion Police are a real organization and will they will be deployed at the first sign of defiance.

PAN: Guys, is there anything more we needed? Please ask some polite question yourself; I want him not to feel too comfortable talking to me, asking too many easily answerable questions myself might weaken my position in closing the deal; shouldn't be a problem if you ask them yourselves.
This sounds pretty fucking dangerous to be honest. But it pays well, and even better when I'm done here. You up for it? If you're not, speak up now. I'm not doubting for a second that Nomad's right, if any of us fuck this up, we all end up hiding for months or simply dead. The security package if things go to shit, I don't think we'll get it and I'd hate bringing it up; we can only hope for a large enough advance payment to cover that.
For the tickets: I'll tell him we'll contact him soon for the specifics (SIN names and the name of the company that bought the tickets); we need to come up with some kind of plan, for which we'll need a lot more planning first.

Tenzin leaned casually against the wall, right beside the door of the booth; folded his arms over his chest and let his eyes wander around the enclosure to which he has just entered.
Luxuriously furnished and dimly lit using floor lamps with clear red light, there were available dark-leathered squabs placed around the walls, left and right; in the center, a large business desk built in expensive mahogany chaired the room,  with two facing leathered armchairs, one on each side.
Have to cost an arm and a leg to rent a room like this, in a place like this,  for your own private parties..

At the far end of the table, one of the chairs was occupied by a very fat, bald man, elegantly dressed, holding a huge smoldering cigar in his right hand, a drink with a viscous-looking and caramel coloured  in his left one. Clearly, the man in charge and the money owner. In front of him, a beautiful human woman, wrapped in a black suit so tight that she seems to be running out of breath at any time; it seems she is going to be the voice in the upcoming verbal fight against the fat one occupying the other side of the table.

In size, you seem little thing comparing yourself with the animal in front of you ... but maybe you're keeping your best inside your brain and your vocal chords, so not prejudging you, lady...

Other suitors of money that the fat is willing to pay are occupying the room, some lying comfortably on squabs, while others remain standing idly attentive to hear what the fat has to say.

While listening to Mr. J as he explains, briefly but directly, what he expects of them, Tenzin can not help but feel a shiver when he hears the word "dinos"...
It's been more than 65 million years since those beasts left us, and it's supposed that they did it forever. it can't bring anything good to mess around with things that could take you as their breakfast without the slightest effort...

In all ways, the job had nothing to do with the damned reptiles. It was simply, if a job like that could be so simple in any way, to enter the island, grab the scientist in question and some of his material, and skedaddle as soon as possible. And waiting to spot the huge animals only from length distance and in trids recorded for posterity ...

Once the chubby holding the cigar had finished his brief exposition, the black-haired woman made some general questions about deadlines and possible target cooperation they would find...not too much, possibly, I fear. Then, she turned and her gaze rested briefly on Tenzin; a few words, spoken by a sweet and smooth voice , clearly from that woman, invited him to join an encrypted communications channel.
As the words reached his ears, an incoming message began flashing on the top left corner of his field of vision; Tenzin minimized the local map superimposed on the AR that had been provided by the entrance bouncers and opened the message, where an icon Key appointed him access to the encrypted channel. Selecting the icon, Tenzin accessed the channel

<Connected:Lama>
Encryption accepted.
@Channel - Greetings, people. My name's Tenzin Dharguey; most people knows me as 'Lama'. Very pleased to meet you all.About things I can and cannot do in order to take things easy, I'm no bad one going unnoticed if necessary, but if bad luck appears ans things start to turn ugly, I know some little tricks to avoid the edge of enemy swords, and strike back effectively. Just do not expect anything dazzling coming from me in terms of technology, know the basics to survive.

While making his presentation through subvocal encrypted channel, the chubby says that objective has not been contacted or informed of future extraction, and is quite unlikely to cooperate.
We better get him out of there in silence and, if possible, without being aware of game in progress, because if he doesn't want to come with us, will certainly not hesitate to ask the private security to keep him in place... and then the lead will start fliying with no doubt, if this guy is worth so much

The lady seems to understand the run we are being offered is important and dangerous at a time. Smiles calmly , pulls out a cigarette, asks the chubby for light, and presents its case in a firm way, beginning to show all her hidden weapons and tricks available for this mental and verbal battle.
Oohh, lady....just now you do not seem such a little thing next to the big guy...you're playing quite well...

The man takes a puff on his enormous cigar, makes a small break, check his notes and raises his bid in a significant way.
Tenzin nods her head slightly, an almost imperceptible gesture, satisfied with what he is seeing and hearing.

@Channel - Darling, it isn't the first time you face guys like this one, is it? Well played, lady...

Well mister Midnight, you left part of my question unanswered, and I think it is the important one...Who is an employer of this man. Is he working for some AAA or is he sponsored by owner of this island? Who owns all this Jura circus?

LochKid, I'm aware the target's a man, not a dino... but I didn't miss the part about 'saurian dinodrones'. That sounds like the kind of things you find in labs... where you usualy also find researchers. Now I'm not too good in tech... but would it theoreticly be possible to put wires into animals the size of, well, the large ones? Not that the thought of small dinodrones isn't fucked up enough already.

Silk wasn't really comfortable with the silence, delays like this weren't normal in a regular conversation. Of course the Johnson knew they'd have to discuss some things in private, but still the pause disturbed the natural flow of these things. She was relieved when Gaunt's question broke the silence. The message he sent shattered that relief though.

Gaunt, I get the concern, but if you're implying the 'plus expenses' should turn out to be over 50k a person, be sure to tell him; somehow I don't really think he'll pay an extra three-hundred-and-fifty thousand on a job he's currently offering slightly more than a hundred for... If you manage to pull that off though, you've got a lot to teach me.
Juicer, these things lay eggs right? Sounds portable and expensive... think the Johnson would consider those to be paydata?

PM @ Nomad: I thought the companies usually didn't go after the 'runners unless they really fucked up or made it personal... something about everyone knowing that the guys who did the job no longer have the stolen property and don't even who they sold it to or where it was now. Some kind of code that made sure they aren't worth the effort of hunting down. Don't tell me that's just movie stuff.

This was supposed to be just business. The thought of really pissing off a mega-corp wasn't one she liked at all and worried her more than even the biodrone part.

Thank you Tenzin, a woman just tries to use what little talents have been granted to her. Don't think too highly of me yet though, the toughest part still is to come.

-- Man I'm so not looking forward to actually rolling dice on this test. --
