VITAS-3 gets a stat block in the disease section of Augmentation as well. Spreads by Inhalation vector, and outbreaks are largely contained by the victims rapidly losing consciousness (within a day typically). Mortality rate is around 50 percent among humans.

I would love to see Detritus in a Shadowrun setting (or Rincewind for that matter).  Maybe a cross-over RPG to propose at the next DW con (it would be fun to play in the bar at 3 am).

Not reading the whole thread, but here's a tiny smidge on VITAS from Steve Kenson.

The first cases of Virally Induced Toxic Allergy Syndrome (VITAS) appeared in India, but within a few weeks there were cases reported worldwide. VITAS struck mercilessly all over the world, especially in the impoverished and overcrowded Third World. Within days of infection, the victim's immune system became so sensitive that common allergies could cause deadly toxic shocks that would kill the victim.

There's a bit in the Sixth world almenac, p19:

February 10—INDIA: A new disease is discovered, a virus that produces severe allergic reactions and kills most of its victims by inflaming their lungs to the point that they suffocate. The disease is named Kali’s Harvest in India and kills 450 million people. Worldwide, the disease is named the Virally Induced Toxic Allergy Syndrome (VITAS), and it eventually kills a quarter of the world’s population, including Pope John Paul III.
