IIRC, in a fit of irony, some major anti-meta racist was turned into one during SURGE.

Shadowrunners are reminded that the Fashion Police are a real organization and will they will be deployed at the first sign of defiance.

No, but he does keep listening to that Bob Seager song.
O, proud Death, What feast is toward thine eternal cell, That thou so many princes at a shot So bloodily hast struck?

VITAS-3 gets a stat block in the disease section of Augmentation as well. Spreads by Inhalation vector, and outbreaks are largely contained by the victims rapidly losing consciousness (within a day typically). Mortality rate is around 50 percent among humans.

And after he cracks his head on the ceiling?

Or realizes that he's not on the Discworld and wonders what's really going on?  :P

I would love to see Detritus in a Shadowrun setting (or Rincewind for that matter).  Maybe a cross-over RPG to propose at the next DW con (it would be fun to play in the bar at 3 am).  :)

Not reading the whole thread, but here's a tiny smidge on VITAS from Steve Kenson.

Quote from: Steve Kenson
The first cases of Virally Induced Toxic Allergy Syndrome (VITAS) appeared in India, but within a few weeks there were cases reported worldwide. VITAS struck mercilessly all over the world, especially in the impoverished and overcrowded Third World. Within days of infection, the victim's immune system became so sensitive that common allergies could cause deadly toxic shocks that would kill the victim.

This can be found in his article Radical Faeries. This article, and many others, can be found on his personal website.

and Just Imagine what a VITAS IV plague would look like after running through the 2061 mana spike
Tech dreams of organic toys
And I'm runnin' out on the edge
Soft screams of the rockerboys
Echoing through my head

There's a bit in the Sixth world almenac, p19:

Quote
February 10—INDIA: A new disease is discovered, a virus that produces severe allergic reactions and kills most of its victims by inflaming their lungs to the point that they suffocate. The disease is named Kali’s Harvest in India and kills 450 million people. Worldwide, the disease is named the Virally Induced Toxic Allergy Syndrome (VITAS), and it eventually kills a quarter of the world’s population, including Pope John Paul III.

Wasn't that the Pope that also spoke out against Awakened creatures?

Guess he wasn't paying attention to Teheran.  :P
