I rather like Vashon Island's (Shiwase) Synergist Line, which I imagine to look like a changshan or qipao.  Something I wish I had.  Plus, the Synergist Long Coat is a Lined Coat, but fashionable.  You probably look like a bodyguard, but at least you're dressed for the occassion.

And form fitting body armor is always fashionable, of course.

The SecureTech PPP (Personal Protection Piecemeal) system, available in discreet "Under street clothing" versions, are perfect for any occasion.  Admittedly, woman's dresses give them a lack of options with the items (Bare arms and slits along the legs prevent those items from being worn there), but men are lucky in that a tux will cover the whole body save the head.

Oh, BTW, the Matte Black Hammerli 620S works great with both the traditional "Little Black Dress" and Tuxedos as accessories, apparently.

To answer the main question, my PC has leanred to wear whatever is needed for the occasion, simply put. Just because he is a Merc dosen't mean he HAS to dress in BDUs all the time...even though they are damn comfortable.

But does he wear his armor to the store? Yes. Even when not actively working , I have what I call "battle casual". Can't always wear the mill-spec stuff, but there is always something, armor wise.  Lined coat or form fitting armor are common with a heavy pistol (I suggest a Browning Ultra-Power) in a consealed holster and a cougar shortblade for when things get up close and personal.

Things are nasty out there, being prepared is another step towards survival.

One of my characters (Jon "Money" Johnson) has a whole collection of firearms specifically for wardrobe accessories.  But he swears by the Browning Ultra-Power in .45 ACCP in a small of the back (SOB) holster as his standard carry piece.

And he's the legit SINner of my group of characters that I have floating around in my head!

To put things in perspective:  There's a story about a friend of the family that showed up at a department store after working in her garden and not changing out of her work clothes, the staff ignored her completely.  The next day, she showed up dressed what was normal for her, which is quite well.  The staff fell over themselves to help her.

She politely pointed out that she could buy the store five times over and not give a damn about the cost, and that she had been in yesterday and ignored based on her appearance.
I got to do this once :) After scraping and saving for several years, I had enough money in savings to buy my new car outright. So I went to the bank and got it out in cash  ;D

After visiting several car places in shirt and board shorts, was eventually got served by one new girl, and advised her I'd take the car.
She gave me all the dubious looks of: And how would you like to finance that?
Response: Erm, well, do you take money? *drops bundles of cash tied with rubber bands*

The store was actually really pissed with me, as they had to spend time counting the cash and locking it up... apparently people don't pay in cash anymore....

But yes, appearances matter. In game, I have specific wardrobe packs for occasions... some armoured, most not. I do however, appear to be the only PC ion the group who spends money on non-Combat requirements.... damned combat monsters....

Actually, the issue with using cash for big purchases is that there are investigations about that now.  It's a way of laundering money, after all.

It was bad enough that Canadian Legislation was passed awhile ago that UTILITY BILLS couldn't be paid in cash.  It *HAD* to go through a bank account.  This was the reason given.

IIRC, that's been revoked.

Stupid.

Don't the darn bills say 'legal tender for all debts public and private'?  I could see why they prefer a cashier's check or something but still.  Inventing crap to be worried about it seems like.

For years, you couldn't actually pay your utility bills at the actual utility storefront in cash yourself by their own rules.  Although, I think that was more a "Let's not get robbed at the first of the month, every month!" issue.

The legislation was a weird one, which confused a lot of people.  As I put it to the manager at the bank I have dealt with for well over a decade:  "Money laundering, at $50 or so a month?"  "Yeah, I know, utter BS.  But it's the law, Sir."  "OK, I can understand that."

I was having a bad day.  So I decided to go "Angry Ontarian" on the flatlanders here.  :P

Ahhh, the cashless society.... Shadowtech is catching up again ;)

So, back to OP thread. Any fun descriptors for PC fashion sense?

SR Cars have that neat mod to customise paint jobs and logos.
Currently, we have Customised LED wheel hubs (apologies for the pimping music ...it's the market, I guess...)

Anyone think Shadowrun fashion will have similar things? AR tags especially?

I was going to dis those royally, but that actually looks like a good design.

Unfortunately, it'd be filled with bad ideas.  :(

My Rigger has the "Signature" and "Distinctive Style" flaws. She need those wheels for her symbol.

I quite liked Armante's Dallas line as in Cannon Companion, and was a bit disappointed that Zoe had taken over Armante's 'remains' (as of Arsenal) and discontinued the fashion line.

So I wondered about the Dallas line - has it fallen out of favour/regarded as passe, is it collectable, is it completely forgotten?
