yep, GPS is a passive receiver, the maps are offline.
On google maps or online based turn-by-turn, they are downloaded in pieces, but even then the GPS is passive you can always check your position in google maps on the cellphone, even if the map area is greyed out.

hmm. So if the node is in active node...it shows other nodes its location by sending its location to the mesh network, and so you can get AR image like that one in the rules. If it is set to passive mode, it doesnt show up in AR window, but allows mesh network to use it as "random proxy" and if set to stealth mode, it avoids even being contribute to the network, its just using the connection but not sharing anything. Am I right?

another question, since Mouse's node is a bio-node, is it affected by the jamming and emp blasts? I was wondering if instead of totally exiting the 'trix, I could fall back to my personal node, conjure up another sprite and be ready for Unca Omar when he gets his network back up.

hmm...im thinking about what Ive posted before in OOC....being offline...does that mean that Im in Hidden mode? Because...in fact, rules dont know such option like being completely offline IMO...not that I want to be on matrix...but should it be like that? Because if this is the case, Id like to run commlink in that Alert mode we have been talking about, giving access just to Mouse...everything else would be forbiden.

In a modern smartphone, you can turn off 2g/3g and still play the games or read ebooks.
I don't see any reason to disallow playing full VR games on your commlink with an antenae off. (I know that's against something I've written ten posts before, let's call it enlightment )

This is in my opinion different status than being in hidden mode, where you're connected, but configured your firewall to reject most of the traffic.

Still allowing anyone (like Mouse, or putting together your slaved nodes into the network) to access you link, means you need to turn on your radio. When that's the case you go into hidden mode, which means you're voulnerable to hacking.

Yes, to connect to the matrix you use your brain to generate waves necessary to comunicate electronically.
This also means that since you cannot just switch off you bionode you're going to be very disoriented and unhappy during such events. Of course this would be at least an order of magnitude weaker than actually being dumped like when you're logged in somewhere connection with your persona being teared

the she-knight said that, directly hears it Omar with his amplified sound sensor and her direct comrades. BUt as you could hear in the alice's commlink it was distributed immediatelly to all BTL users

Since it was on the IC, I assume, that you have your links linked, and the streams set so you know what is happening.
check on the tact map to see if you can see her - she is numbered 1
