You gonna run with the street name El Fox?  ;D

Anyway, shapeshifters aren't really humans when in human form.  They just look human.  So if you want to be an elf/fox, it is a purely cosmetic thing.  Stat wise, you're still just a shapeshifter, that happens to look like an elf in the humanoid form.

There's actually rules specifically for this in the "Optional Rule" sidebar on p87 RC. Unfortunately, it costs you 20 bp, and all you get is low-light vision while in metahuman form which is...not worth 20 bp.

He'd gain the Elf Attribute spread as well, based on my reading of that optional rule... Yeah, still not worth it. A "base" Fox Shifter has a similar Attribute spread and already comes with low-light vision. You're better off just asking your GM for permision to "count as" an Elf and not pay the 20 BP... If he says "No" grab the Elf Poser Negative Quality!

It's easy to make that mistake, but nope, you just get low-light. If you look at the table it refers you to, note how the stats are called "Attributes," and then under each metatype, it has a "X Metatype Abilities" in bold. Those are the things you get.

Huh, you're right, it doesn't change the Attribute spread at all. So with the Shapehifter Abilities listed for the Fox are: "–1 Reach*, Enhanced Senses (Hearing, low light vision, smell, taste)" (RC p.86) he wouldn't gain anything from the Not Always Quite Human (RC p.87) except the loss of two of his Enhanced Senses (if you have a strictly by the book GM) or just gain nothing...  Seriously, just ask your GM to be an Elf for free, you gain nothing.

Yea that doesn't bother me I still want to do it so since a shape shifter can't have cyberware and are pretty magical I'm assuming a magician or should I could make a really beastly pun intended unarmed combat charecter who is really sneaky and just sneak around and maul people.

For unarmed combatant shifter, personally, I say go with a tiger or bear adept.

Seals are also a good way to go, oddly enough. Compared to Tigers, they trade off 1 less Reaction and Strength for 1 more Agility and Intuition, and they're 5BP cheaper since you lose out on a couple Enhanced Senses and +1 Reach while a Critter.

This made me think immediately Navy SEAL.

You've also got the whole aquatic angle, making you both stealthy and capable of action in more environments.

And one hell of a laugh when you get away. ;)

What it makes me think of is getting clubbed by baby seals rather than clubbing baby seals, and then I think 'well, fitting revenge'...

But would you really want to take a bath anywhere in the 6th world except maybe Sweden?

And then they go out for drinks at Club Penumbra and become clubbing seals, baby!

Just don't use a male seal shapeshifter as a wingman at a bar.
