I'm still putting the finishing touches on the character, but I am thinking I will go with Grey the "retired" shadowrunner that I have in the Creation & Critque subforum. He's largely inspired by Michael Caine's character in Get Carter so with a few details shifted would fit fine and dandy into a UK game... Likewise, it wouldn't be hard to make him a veteran of the Dallas metroplex either.

He's human, a generalist, and doesn't sport anything especially wacky in terms of `ware, magic, or genetics.
Evil looms. Cowboy up. Kill it. Get paid.

Well if I can still throw in Jax, I will, but it seems you have a hacker... Plus i would need to use karmagen.

And UmaroVI gets the final slot, as his character sounds most like what I want.

Thankyou all.

Alright, time to actually finish making that character. I've been waffling on precisely what type of Awakened to go with, so let me bug Big Peat a bit about which rules he uses. I may wind up just writing up more than one version and seeing which one I like better.

-Do you use the SR4+FAQ version of Mystic Adepts where they check their Magician magic for all purposes related to Magic-linked skills and Adept magic for all purposes related to Adept powers, or the SR4A version where they check total magic for all purposes, but roll fewer dice on Magic-linked skills and have less PP?

-How do you rule the Heightened Concentration power (Digital Grimoire) works?

Be honest Umaro, you just like writing up characters too much...

I use the SR4A version.

For me, I interept single fairly literally when it comes to Heightened Concentration - so it will only cancel the penalties for sustaining one spell at a time, not all of them; or cancel the penalties for shooting at night, but not the range penalties; and so on.

Do you need to keep spending actions to keep it working? For example, if it's at night, can you spend one Complex Action to set it to "Visibility modifier for Total Darkness" and then pew pew away? Or do you need to, say, spend a Complex Action, take one shot, then spend a new Complex Action, then take another shot, and so on?

It keeps working as long as you keep concentrating - certain situations might make me ask for a Composure test to see if you keep concentrating, but otherwise you spend that complex action, and then pew-pew away to your heart's content.

OK, sounds good. (For the record, I'm not sure how it is supposed to work, but IMO that's probably the most balanced interpretation).

Update to all players:

I'm waiting on two profiles, and then we should be good to go. I'm currently hoping to start next Monday. I'm also doing a wiki - not a lot on there atm, but the idea is it'll be an easy link for campaign info without cluttering the OOC. It also contains setting info, such as I make up, which I realise 90pc of will  be useless. If people have any requests on information to be included on it, then please feel free to ask away - that way, it'll be all written up when you need it in game (hopefully) instead of me going "Uhm... uhm..."

I'll get my character up later today.

Any house rules \ banned tactics, gear, spells we need to know?

Also, about how big is the Dallas / Ft. Worth sprawl?  Right now I'm using the modern size for my calculations.

Dallas/Ft. Worth sprawl is about that size.

No stick n' shock, no emotitoys, no software ratings above 6 and no MRSI. I think that's the list atm, which doubtless means someone will produce something I've forgotten, but that's about it.

Wait. No Mental spells (i.e. Control Person, so on). I apologise to Umaro if that overly inconveniences him.
