I'm not sure whether to use a combat axe or a tomahawk.
Rules were mean't to be broken.

Well, unless you're an AmerInd, you might be picking a fight with some people by carrying a Tomahawk.  Better stay out of the NAN, too.  :P

I had a chance to get a Vietnamese Tomahawk (Actually invented by the US Military, IIRC), but living in an Urban Reserve as I am...

A combat ax is generally a two handed weapon, unless you're a troll. Tomahawks are single handed and can be thrown.

The description of a Combat Axe in SR4a, page 314 says thus:

Quote
Combat  Axe: This two-handed tungsten alloy axe typically comes with a spring-loaded thrusting point concealed in the handle.

The definition the game uses is a giant 2 handed axe. If you want a one handed axe you need to buy and use the stats for a different, one handed, axe.

Real life definitions are not always equal to game definitions.

I missed the two handed part skiming over it, and yes the stats you are refering to are a two handed axe. I will try to read more carefully.

Is there actually stats for such a thing, short of the Tomahawk? Cos I can't see them.

you could talk to your GM and ask to use the stats for a tamahawk for a non thrown hand axe. whould not be that big a deal. dont think the lazer axe made it to 4th ed.

Well of course you can. You can use the Tomahawk in close combat as written as well. Or you can come up with your own axes, as I have.

My point was is there something I've missed here.

Not that I could find with a quick scan of the BBB, Arsenal, and War. There might be something in another book, but it seems axes don't get much love.
