I will say, I am tempted to swap out pistols for automatics since a sniper trained in such a fashion would likely be former military.

Looks good but you don't have the skill group firearms.  Your Reflex Recorder (Firearms group) doesn't apply.

You'll need the single skill ones for Longarms and Pistols.  Which is good less cred and Essence

Which I think you already know.  Probably a mix up.

Otherwise looks nice

Firearms Group = Pistols + Automatics + Longarms
therefore
Reflex Recorder (Firearms) = +1 Pistols, +1 Automatics, +1 Longarms

That means that if you're missing part of the Skill Group the bonus to that particular Skill is wasted, like any other bonus-points that put you over your cap. The other skill bonuses would still apply as normal. Of course, If you have a quote saying otherwise I would honestly (and non-sarcastically!) love to see it.

However, your point about 2 single-skill Recorders being cheaper is a good one.

Only real change I'd make is Infil 4 and Blades 2

This is because

a) I imagine military trained snipers spend more time practising the former than the latter
b) Your character looks like sneaking is far more important to him than his tertiary attack mode
c) Karma efficiency

Also, if you can afford it, I'd buy a shotgun, in case you hit a mission where you have to go in all guns-blazing. I'd have also looked at the camo suit with half FFBA and plenty of PPP option for protection as well, bit pricy but helps you hide. I am however just quibbling at this point.

Otherwise, that's a fairly decent face shooting build to say the least.

p.s. Part of me's tempted to say that if you're going full snipery i.e. they can't hit me as they can't see me most of the time, reducing Body to 3 and bumping Reaction and Intution to a) go quicker b) spot people a bit better might be a plan. Might.

-If that char has a background into the military, I'd raise survival by 1 or 2 points, and mayber swap Blades for Unarmed Combat.

-Why did you pick the Cerebral Booster? I can't see any real improvement it provides.

-Otherwise ist's just fine.

Mind over Matter, from War!, lets you replace one physical stat with the equivalent "Astral" stat in rolls. In this case, it would be Agility -> Logic. With that power in place, Cerebral Booster is, effectively, +3 on all his Agility tests, while Muscle Toner would be useless.

So he could roll Pistols + INT instead of Pistols + AGI? If so, there is still no benefit since his AGI is higher than his LOG

Wait... gah... wrong character, A4BG isn't the one that has the Mind over Matter anyway. I totally forgot which window I was in when I answered your question.

I think he has First Aid that uses Logic, and that's about it.

Your right. It's a gaff on my part assuming that the augment only worked with the group skill.  My apologies.   :-[

Just pointing this out, but you're taking Judas.... and you're posting this online. Isn't that one of those qualities that shouldn't be mentioned to the group?

Personally I don't see the need for the pain editor. That thing is sucking up alot of BP that could be spent on other useful things. I don't think amnesia or judas takes away your contacts, but you might want some of those.

That is to say unless you're starting play with amnesia just now settling in, its doubtful that you have absolutely no friends in the SR setting. I'd imagine you could of at least established something with a fixer.

Just haven't messed with that yet is all. For the most part, I was trying to disprove the "Longarms skill suxx" attitude.

I would certainly say its a capable build combat wise. Still, it strikes me as a character that might get pretty boring when the party is planning the run. The perception skills can certainly help casing the joint, and infiltration is always a must have.

Any reason for no chameleon suit? I doubt impact armour is all that important.

I think the primary reason people tend to be down on snipers is that their usefulness is highly diminished once the party has to go indoors. You help fix that by having an excellent pistols skill. If staying outside is still important, might wanna consider an ultrawideband radar system (either implant or sensor), and maybe buying APDS ammo at start of play. I doubt it will be too helpful (will definitely need to talk to your GM about how effective it will actually be), but it could let you pop guys through weak walls and what not.

Shotguns.
Given a lack of hardware skill, shock-lock rounds are probably your next best way of getting through doors, and with your skill, I imagine that would open many doors for you.

Still, it strikes me as a character that might get pretty boring when the party is planning the run.

I'm currently playing an assassin character who snipes, and it does hamper your ability to do other things sometimes. I went with an adept and gave him Missile Mastery and Power Throw so he can kill people like Bullseye. I also have an Agent because we're pretty Matrix-heavy as a group, so I can take part in cybercombat and help hack stuff. Also, having a drone or two can help depending on what drones you select. I have an Armadillo so I can help with electronic warfare if need be. We've also completed entire runs without firing a shot, so basically I built the character so I could usually find something fun to do while everybody else is handling their stuff.
