So I am stealing the idea of an Ex-Red Samurai,  but putting a spin on it ffor my own tastes, the character would be an Ex-Ronin Candidate:

Program: Ronin

Description:
Ronin Candidates are recruited in there teens, their parents are told that they are being recruited for a junior executive program. The theoretical program is that candidate would shadow executives and when it came time to find a job the candidate would be placed in corporate management. The real program was designed to train this individual as a body guard, to hide in plain sight near their executive.  Training was focused on CQB with limited long range tactics.  Later when the candidate was of age several would be folded into the Red Samurai.

I wrote this to give a short background on a character I wanted to build, basically the runner was young and was trained in the program then the surge hit and he was changed. No-longer human, he was dropped from the program and forced out of the corporation because of his surge.

Do you think that would work? I’m going to flesh out the background but this is the start. I'm also trying to figure if I should make him an Adept or Street Sam?

A ronin is a masterless Samurai, but I'm betting you knew that.  i'm putting this out there for everyone else who might be reading this thread.

Okay, I suggest you make him a Street Samurai archetype.  Adepts are cool and all, but nothing can get past the Street Sammy for superior firepower and chrome.  I realize that the Corps are in an arms race with the Shadowrunners, and by now they would have adepts.  But a corp like Renraku would still hold to tradition and make more of their Ronins into Street Samurai.

Adepts would have to be trained well, and trained good.  If you are going to make a physical adept, then I suggest in your backstory that you protected not a junior executive but a senior executive.  Think about that. :)

So keep with the street sam's and all their cyber ware.

So you think I should go cyberlimbs? or go a different path?

Considering adept power levels compared to street samurai, flip what Hermes said about senior/junior execs.

An augmented adept wouldnt be a bad decision, unless it greatly interfered with how you want your SURGE to appear. Bodyguards also need a different set of skills than covert ops teams like the Samurai. Some useful ones:
Unarmed (Subdual)
Pistols or Automatics (Machine Pistols) because a guard can't always have high AP longarms in a boardroom
Dodge (Bodyguard) to leap into bullets
Perception
Disguise (for incognito guarding)
Navigation (Urban) for leading the client to safety
First Aid
