>>>>>[He broke onea th' rules of the Shadows, don't be no Ghost-Damned hero.

Jumped between me and a Sentry Turret.  His armour had been compromised by a number of things, and only stopped the bullets after they went through the front and his body.  Died in my arms.  None of us would have gotten out if the Evac I hired hadn't broken instructions, and the air support I had been able to get at the last minute was the only thing that got us out of there without physical trackers.  Spirits ate the Watchers after us, and a few surprises I had in store would have taken care of any tracking paracritters.

One dead, two in life support pods but looks like they'll live, bunch wounded, but I had a few tricks to prevent people from tracking us.  My armour held, but I'm pretty battered myself.  I knew I smelled something off, but not this off.

Hardest part was bringing him back to his family.  First time they never swore or insulted me at all.  I carried them all back, his father, his grandfather...  I killed them all.]<<<<<

>>>>>[Well, Murphy's a big boy and made the stupid decision of dying in your place. So if it's not your fault that this run turned into a bullet storm, bury the guy, mourn if you like then get over it. It's as stupid to beat yourself up and, even if I don't agree with what he did, he certainly did not took a bullet for you to blame yourself afterward. For some reason he thought your life was more valuable than his, which is true in my opinion. So honor his sacrifice by doing what you do best and get on with your friggin' life!

>>>>>[Damn. Sorry to hear that, Money. Could hardly understand a damn word the guy said, but he was all right, and a good guy to have at your back when drek went down. He'll be missed.

And Madre, if you go genewiping the kid, you're going to mess with his magic. Same with any other kind of ware. Best to just move him across national borders and arrange for him to get a SIN there, under a new name. Arrange for a messy explosion in an empty car, and toss some of the kid's blood in the hulk. Report the kid dead, and his old SIN will go away of its own accord. Then move him someplace more awakened-friendly. The Tir or the NAN are good choices. If you go with the Tir, I know some people who would train him up, and he'd have a job when he got through basic. Peace Forces are always looking for recruits, and they've even gone on a non-elf hiring spree since the revolution.]<<<<<

>>>>>[ He chose to do it, for reasons of his own. That was one of the reasons I felt he was worth keeping around, the fact that he could show such depths of loyalty. Runners like him...hell, PEOPLE like him are difficult to find these days. It was a priviledge to know him. Oh madre de dios...

Ice, I hear you. I know it will affect his magic. He'll certainly lose a bit of ability...but he can always regain it through initiation. I've done this for a few adepts, and they continued to grow in their abilities afterward. Sure, over the short term it'll put him at a slight disadvantage, but he also gains certainty that he will not be found. Being declared dead doesn't erase your data from the system, so there's always the chance of someone discovering it, and there's not a decker alive that can guaruntee he got into every single node there is that contains the data. This way, he can be sure, and he can go anywhere he wants afterwards. It's up to him to decide at the end of the day. Once I have his final word, I'll let you know, and then we can work out the logistics.

But for now...I will sign off and honour Murphy. He was a rare man...]<<<<<

>>>>>[Well, you don't have to wipe your genes to make sure you won't be found. A bit of biosculpting will change your face without affecting your magic. Just change your name and cross national borders to get a new SIN, and you'll be fine. As long as he doesn't go to the UCAS again, the kid will be good as gone. Well, so long as he doesn't do something stupid like make contact with his childhood friends. You want to make sure the father doesn't go looking to tie up loose ends, just approach him as a 'cleaner'. Get a good face to convince him to pay to make it look like terrorists killed his son. Set up the body and blood, with a nice explosion, and get the kid out of town. Plus, you do it right and you get paid twice for doing a good deed.

Let me know what the kid decides. I'll have to set it up with the smuggler I use to get in and out of the Tir. If you're trying to set it up so someone has always lived in the Tir, you don't want records of him coming across the border. My gal has a good route through. Every time I go through, we've always been able to get in and out no problem.]<<<<<

After I stumbled on a second pile of bodies and nearly had to explain this to KE, I figured I'd get the hell away from this mess. I like the guy enough to keep an interest but not enough to wipe the blood off my brand new boots for a third time.

I'd suggest everyone to do the exact same thing.]<<<<<

>>>>>[Damn. Didn't think Money was the type to go on a bloody rampage. Let this serve as a lesson to you younger runners. Know when to get out. Everyone has a point where they've seen too much, and it makes them a bit crazy. That point's different for everyone. You gotta recognize when you're getting too far in. Otherwise you'll be on the trid, going down in a blaze of glory as the cops hunt down a mass murderer.

If he has had a bit of a break, best you all steer clear, as Smiley said. Can't count on someone in that mindset from knowing friend from foe until it is too late. Don't approach them unless you know you can take them in a fight, preferably without killing them.]<<<<<

>>>>>[Um, hello everyone.  I'm Murphy, the nephew of the recently deceased Big Murphy.  My family is pretty much still in mourning, but I know a few things they didn't and have been able to get over his death a bit quicker than most.  Smiley, I'd appreciate knowing where you found those bodies when KE found you, I need to know how close they are.

I'm closer, and this isn't the first time Mr. Money has gone on a rampage like this.  He pretty must lost his mind after his wife died and has been a thin thread of sanity ever since.  Losing my Uncle, well...  Uncle Murphy was an usher at their wedding and it must have been similar to losing his wife again.  At least it isn't as bad as last time, the gutters overflowed red in some neighborhoods.  I just need to get to him before he does something he'll regret, or KE catches up to him.  It, um, wouldn't be good for those poor KE officers.  They're just doing their jobs after all.  Thank you, I, I wish I could have come here and met you all under a better situation.]<<<<<

>>>>>[Well it's pretty obvious he's trying to know what the frak went wrong on the last run and tracking down who's responsible. To be honest, having met and worked for the guy once and having done my bit of legwork, I'm not so surprised. My guess is if he doesn't end up in a casket being hunted down by KE , he'll come around eventually. Reminds me of Shamandar's story.

Well met Murphy. Welcome in our little community. I sent you all I found so far and when and where I got my run in with KE. Oh and my condolences.]<<<<<

>>>>>[Well met, Murphy. Sorry about your Uncle. Didn't always see eye to eye with him, but he had a solid rep, and was a decent guy.

The Shamandar story is similar, yeah. And both stories should be a warning to you all. Everyone has a point where they simply crack. I've seen it before, and not just in the shadows. The ones who don't end up dead usually piece themselves back together. Some never recover, and are just broken for the rest of their lives. But even the ones who get back in their right mind gotta watch themselves. Its the same as addiction. You may be clean now, but you're never free of it, and it only takes one slip, and you're back, as bad or worse than you were before.

I guess you could say I have a bit of experience in the whole 'go batshit crazy and murder the fraggers who hurt me' department. I told you all about what happened when my sister died. I left a trail of bodies until I caught all the ones responsible, and had them in a nice cave I found on my Bridging, years before. Not proud of that, to be honest. Had to take some time to myself after, to get right with Shark after that.]<<<<<

>>>>>[Thank you, Smiley, Sir.  They're pretty far back on the trail, and are likely to start giving him medals as they follow the bodies.  Some are pretty nasty fellows, and I think he's stopped giving a damn about who was responsible and just started working on his list of "People I want to kill a lot."  I've been hitting the areas with Cleaner-Cleaner as I go, but Mr. Money has been doing a pretty good job of cleaning his own tracks.  It's just that he was the one that taught me tracking, so I know some of the tricks he uses, but he's got a lot that he hasn't taught me, or probably anyone else.

OK, I think I'm getting...  Yes, I'm close, a body just landed next to me.  Sorry Mr. MacCallister, I kludged a program to allow me to post in AR here instead of having to VR the system.  Needed to do it while tracking.  Damn, wish I had learned Sperethiel now.  Um, oh hell, I know that term, gotta log off and remove distractions.]<<<<<  >>>User:  Murphy --- Logged Off At Source<<<

>>>>>[ Mmm...I'm not surprised Money went off his rocker. He's a follower of Asatru. They revere Berserkers as far as I know. Something about being a true follower of the war god or being touched by him or some such. I think its considered proper vengeance for a fallen brother. I don't think he lost it as much as let himself go. But I don't know him that well, so I could be wrong. He did strike me as the devout sort though.

Welcome, Murphy. My sincere condolences regarding the loss of your uncle. I admired and respected him, both as a person and as a professional. His death grieves me. Be careful around Money right now though. We can talk later.

Ice, I think we all have experience with that kind of thing. Once I found out just who was responsible for the death of my children and my parents, and who his employer was...I spent six years hunting them and it didn't take long to draw no distinction between the guilty and the innocent. To me, they were all guilty by association. It took a major event to bring me to my senses again. I wish I could say I was insane, or berserk. I wasn't. I just chose not to draw a distinction and vented my anger and pain. After I came to my senses...or rather, had my animal twin batter me into submission...I guess that's when I became a Shadowrunner in the 'traditional' sense. ]<<<<<
