Got one for you all, but a little back story is needed for it to make sense:

The main badguy in the story arc was an AI obsessed with a contact of one of the players. The AI was a spontaneous awakening based off of an "observation" program merged with a "pilot" program. And it was "in love" with the contact. Unfortunately it had no body to interact with the real world (but was aware of it due to its spying on the contact and control of drones. Once it saw and rationalized that the contact had a romantic interest in the PC, it developed an obsession with the PC. It basically wanted to "become" the PC so it could get to the contact.

....

After a series of minor (but growing in threat) appearances of random drone attacks the players finally decided to track down this mysterious attacker and (wrongly) thought they had it figured out... Only to have a character kidnapped by an other team of runners who were working for the AI!

The character was vivisected while the AI learned what it was like to be a flesh and blood mortal! However the rest of the team was not standing still, and was closing in on their missing partner.

The AI, with time running out and resources getting re-appropriated (basically it had spoofed requisition orders from the corp that spawned it, and now those spoofs were failing, thanks to the PCs efforts) it had to do "drastic" measures... It installed body/head ware into the PC (while he was awake!) with the hopes of being able to "pilot" the PC as it would a drone!!!

....

It didn't work. The PC ended up with what basically worked out to be a skill wire implant and a "mysterious" headware implant.... And a feeling that "something" is always near him, looking through his eyes, seeing, hearing and experiencing everything he does... And when he is extremely tired or stressed out... He can almost hear something whispering in the back of his mind...
Where am I going? And why am I in a hand basket ???

Remember: You can't fix Stupid. But you can beat on it with a 2x4 until it smartens up! Or dies.

Going on the "different forv every character" angle, my party's non-Awakened, unaugmented generalist got forcibly Wired and freaked, because now he doesnt believe he can make it to Heaven until it's removed and the Essence hole healed

*snerk*

Wish I'd been there. I can think of so much fun my characters would try to have at that reaction. Especially the Pixie. His idea of a "solution" would be to try to convince the character that heaven doesn't exist.

...

And, speaking of that psychotic little bugger, he's inflicted a few Fates Worse Than Death using Alter Memory, Mob Mind, and his high-20s Social dice-pools. Nothing quite like selling a heavily xenophobic Yakuza boss that the time he spent being interrogated was actually a massive bender he spent doing all sorts of sick stuff and blowing all the missing money on metahuman hookers with your childhood pal the Oni.

And by "selling" I mean not only hitting him with 17 successes on a Con roll but having the hacker go back and plant/edit footage to corroborate the story while you're busy planting matching memories in the appropriate people. The phrase "disgraced" barely begins to cover it.
