As soon as Rache returns to take her "shoes", Rybka stops her cold stare (but not that cold) to Smiley. She put her hands on the table and mention getting up.

"I believe that's our cue. I'm more of a "on the move" kind of girl, so I say we find a cozy and private place where we can get over both of our problems."

At the same time, she sends a message to all the team through their Matrix channel: @Team: And before loverboy can twist my words, by solving our problems I mean getting rid of the doomed tome and calling Mr. Johnson explained that unfortunately there was no commlink on the convoy, although we made a great job retrieving the hypothetical one for him. Guess that's just bad luck."

Your Teams finds a nice panel van, with RockTroll Energy drink logo on the side. You make it pass the door lock but the on board computer is not impressed with  hank's attempt to make nice. having been laughed at literally the user interface laughs at his attempt to open a password screen. Rybka noticing this operating software "Blarney xt45" a rather irritating operating system, it takes 45 seconds two curse words and a threat to burn the computer before she gets it to recognize the team as the owners. With a happy computer, and unlocked doors the van is ready to go, the back is mostly empty except for 3 flats of Energy Drinks.

The storm above has increased in intensity gale force winds rips by the group as the get into the van, soon rain beings pouring down onto the street.

Right where to now?

Rybka rides shotgun on the van, humbly letting the wheel seat to one more skillful in vehicle operations. All the while, with a mental command, her jumpsuit takes the colors of the RockTroll Energy drink brand.

"What do you say? May I pass for a beverage promoter?" She asks joyful to the guys. Better to blend into your own disguise than not.

"So, does anyone knows of a nice and safe place where we can research how this tome behaves itself when bathed in flames?"

Smiley finds his place in the van, snagging a can of Rock Troll and slamming it as he does, "Hmmmmm, need some vodka."

"Okay, who needs to get gear?  That is first stop, then we call Johnson.  If that goes the way I think it will, I was thinking I would call my old teacher out on Council Island and see about finding a soft place to land, unless anybody got another idea?"

"Sounds okay to me," Rache said.  She wasn't about to bring them to her own house.  Maybe after a couple of years together, but not on a first run.  She lowered one of the windows as they would block astral sight and had another look at the storm.  She wouldn't project, just a couple of quick peaks to keep an eye out and maybe learn a bit about those spirits.  She also went on the matrix to the node of a local news agency to see which way the storm was going on their weather page.

OOC: I assume that going to the site of a local news station and checking out their weather page doesn't require a roll.  I just want to see a trajectory prediction, like they do with tornadoes.

once more, assensing on the storm, but now I keep in my body.  Just astral perception.  Checking what types of spirits are there and maybe get an idea on who summoned them (if possible).

From the back of the van, Hank says, "Look, I'm all in favor of blowing stuff up. But I'm not in favor of being on the receiving end. You need to know how volatile something is before you tinker with it. Some things can be 'bathed in flames' easily enough; try that with a stick of dynamite"--he waves one for emphasis--"and you're going to be looking for a place to land. I may be mundane, but I know that some of these talismans and tomes and whatnot that you magic-types like to play with can be worse than anything I can cook up with in a lab. And sometimes, they don't respond nicely to being...mis-handled."

He looks over at the new girl and continues, "Unless you can assure me that cooking this particular book isn't going to release all sorts of 'bad mojo', I'm not going to risk it."

"I can't say," Rache said, while having another peak at the coming storm, "this shouldn't even be possible."

"Are we taking the "risks" angle?" - Rybka says, nonchalantly - "Look, if we are really and seriously going to pursue this point of view, let's make it for real. We are taking risks no matter how, we just choose how we do it. Trying to keep this artifact concealed is a risk, as much as trying to destroy it or pass it along. But destroying it - considering it can be destroyed - means it a different kind of risk: a determinate and discrete one. One that ends if success is achieved, which is not an option on the other venues of solving. Think about it: keeping it means having an ever-present problem. I am not sure trying to destroy it will solve our problems, but I'm sure trying to keep it as it is will not."

She let's a joyfull laugh escape: "And, after all, this is not a worst scenario case. There's no prophecy telling us it may only be destroyed in the press of the Castle of Doom were it was first forged, at least."

"Trips to Mordor are definitely not in this price range, besides if either of you ladies have hairy hobbit feet that MIGHT be a deal breaker for me."

"Our problems? My only problem is that I might not get paid for doing my job. Here's how I see it: we can assume that the book is what Mr. J wants, give it to him, get paid, and potentially as a side effect empower him to doom the world or some such; not what I'd call a great idea. Or we could try to destroy the book, potentially unleashing the magical equivalent of a good old-fashioned H-bomb in our general vicinity, and then find out (assuming we survive long enough) that Mr. J won't pay us because we can't deliver; I'm not a fan of that one, either. Or we can meet with Mr. J, get paid for hitting the convoy--we can't be blamed for his bad intel--and then find out how to safely dispose of the book. And you know, if that means we need to go find the Press of Doom or whatever, hell, that sounds fun; count me in."

Glancing at the cases next to him, Hank calls out to the troll, "hey, Marak--you ever try one of these drinks? They any good?"

"I never said trying to subtract the material existence of the artifact of doom currently in our hands excludes the getting paid for a job part."

Rybka, says, glancing at Hank. "Hell, I've got more than just our normal headache for that thing, I'm not forgetting to collect what is ours."

After a little while, she glances at Smiley with a suspicious look: "And who would say our ladies man has a foot fetish? That got my surprised, laughing boy."

"We don't really need a trip to Mordor," Rache said about ten minutes out, "besides, it's way too hot over there.  I've been doing some research online and it should be possible to simply burn the book.  At worst it will give green flames, but burning some plastics do that as well.  We just need a secluded spot, preferably out of this freak storm.  I doubt it will burn well when soaking wet."

Hank sighs. "If you say so. You're the mage. I've got a shop that we can use--but if this gets us killed, I'm going to be pissed. Still say we should hold off on the Farenheit 451 re-enactment until after we talk to Mr. J., though."

Hank's got a chemistry shop; according to the description in Arsenal (p. 79), that's got a fume hood, smoke detector, and a chemical fire suppressant system. Should be about as safe as we can get from a physical standpoint. I'm hoping that Rache can supply some magical safeguards. :)

Rybka ponders a littl bit, then, almost if copying Hank's behavior, sighs:

"I'd rather end this problem before talking to J., but if that's the collective decision, I can make the call right now. What I don't really want is to meet him with the book or the leave the tome unattended. This kind of behavior has a tendency to come back to bite us."

She gives a moment so that anyone can elaborate their ideas on the issue, and then asks: "So, what will it be? "Ashes" or "The Call to Cthulhu"?"
