I find it hard sometimes to tell whether something would be meta gaming. Unless it's completely blatently obvious that it's meta gaming. Like I just told someone an important info and another of the group just "randomly" calls the other character up. Luckily most of the time that character doesn't give out the information until the whole group can hear it. (they don't like meta gaming either) xD

Does the player enjoy their character? Maybe they don't like playing a face. Personally I am uncomfortable in certain roles. Your player might be as well.

I agree that it could have been an off night.
