Hey. So...I'll be running the shadows for the first time this coming week (tried to run a game some time ago with less than stellar results). We have a party consisting of a technomancer, rigger, face/combat hybrid, and mage. As such I feel that we need a stealth and demolitions expert (and I dislike feeling left out of combat, so I threw in a little of that). == Info ==

First off, this char has 3 IPs (via SynBoosters, no less) and 2 Firearms skills amongst his highest pools - he's your group's primary combatant. The rest (Demolitions, Infiltration, Facing) is secondary, which is fine, because that's all they really require or deserve. But that being said there's some things we should look at:

1. You're investing a lot of BP into LOG, but not doing all that much with it, you'd be better off taking a little lower Attribute (drop it by 2) and raising the skills instead (by 2 ea.) you'll net 4 BP. Ignore this if you're gonna do something more with that astronomical LOG down the road (like First Aid, Computer, Data Search, etc.). But basically, your primary stats are INT and LOG, you really should build more than 2 or 3 skills around them.

2. You shouldn't be taking Specializations at chargen, they're 2 BP (= 4 Karma) instead of 2 Karma post chargen. Also, regarding general Karma efficiency, you should buy all skills at either 1 or 4 (and 1, 6), this is because you're "paying too much" until you hit 4, so if you want a skill, but don't need to be highly skilled at it at right out of the gate, then just take a 1 in it. Next, you've invested 32 BP in Influence skills, but are only at 4 in 2 of them. You could save 2 BP and be at 3 in all of them or scrounge up 8 more BP and be at 4 in all of them. But then again, your CHA is 3 and you already have a Face in your party, why are you investing so much in social skills anyway (just about 1/3 of all your BP in skills)? Finally, you should drop Dodge and take Gymnastics instead. Your Blades skill lets you defend against melee attacks, so you only need a Full Defense skill, and Gymnastics is a more diverse skill.

3. Seeing as he is a primary combatant, avoiding getting shot should be pretty important to him. Might want to look at Reaction Enhancers since you have stubby little dwarf legs (and drop Sensitive System, find something else).

4. You should integrate FFFBA into your armor set.

I dunno I guess that's about it.

Right...this is exactly the kind of stuff I appreciate hearing from people who've played before. The BP efficiency was a concern for my CHA attribute before, but I didn't even consider it as far as LOG was concerned...and I never even considered karma efficiency (I knew it was there but never looked in detail). Looks like I have a lot of refining to do, so thanks for the advice. Oh...and as far as the 2 face skills, I'd read somewhere on this forum that Con was good for an infiltrator, and etiquette seemed like one of those skills that most people should have...I probably put too much into them, though.

Again, thanks for the input. I appreciate it  :)

Con is absolutely good for an infiltrator, it's true, and Ettiquette is one of those skills that any char could likely benefit from. But at the amount you've put into them, it's just worth it to start looking at the Influence Group in some form. Also, it's worth looking at factoring Tailored Pheromones into this if you plan on relying on any level of social infiltration - TP III is essentially 15 BP (9 in Y, 6 in ESS) for 12 skill die - that's, of course, a steal even compared to the Skill Group. 3 CHA, 2 Influence, 2-3 TP makes you an instant social-infiltrator and back up Face - Pools of 7-8 in all 4 social skills for just about what you've already put into your lone 2.

What I did was go mystic adept which I think is alot more versatile than the standard adept build.  However it depends on how your gm answers these 2 questions

1. With 6 magic and 3 magic put into magican what force can I cast (by book 6 with just stun, by faq 3 with stun drain)

2. Heightened concentration- is multiple sustaining spells considered the same modifer?

3. Heighted concentration - does the maximum  negative that this can affect equal to full magic or adept magic?

Even assuming all negative answers heres what you do

Powers:
Mind over matter Log -> agil
Heightened concentration
.5 Power points of whatever you want to do with it

Take metagenic improve (log) with surge

Cast improve attribute (log) in the morning and negate the penaility with heightened concentration.  Running around with a 10 LOG/10 Agil (for tests)

Put skills in favored method of combat and infilitration and medic
Hardware skills can be mostly skipped because even with 0 skill you have a dicepool of 9 thats better than most inflitration character's hardware skill
Take some demo skills
Take a sustaining focus for improved reflexes

Spells:
Increase attribute (log)
increase attribute (char) - you can drop the log boost and increase char for social situtations
Increased reflexes
Improved invis
Heal
Other spells as you wish

Final end:
infiltration of 10 + skill + gear with addition of improved invis
Combat of 10+skill+other bonuses
Utility spells
awesome medic
Good demolition character

If GM rules for full force then add synatic boosters, gentic optimzation, and trama damper to get a logic of 12 with a magic split of 2-3

If someone wanted to play that character under me, I'd reach for Mirikon's phone book, smack them with it and tell them to go back to the drawing board. That is pure, unadulterated cheddar cheese.

But optimized   you will have issues with being an astral beacon until you can get masking.

If the gm gives postive answers to all those questions you could easily maintain 3 spells on yourself from the moment you wake up

Yes I copied my own post from another thread so sue me :p
