Looking  at the dynamics of the team as it currently stands, and the roles they could fullfill.

Needle - Primary Hacker with Command Rigger, Medical and Transport as backup roles.
Lasciel - Support Mage with Combat and Medical as backup roles.
Concrete - Tank with Combat, Transport and Situational Face as backup roles.
Trog - CQB focused with combat as backup role.
Siren - Face focused
Lord - Backup Hacker, Face, Combat

Overall its a rather good team.

It appears that my skills aren't really needed.  Add to that the fact that no matter how I explain it, everyone has a problem with how I'm playing uncouth.  It will be best if I just drop.

At this point, Severus, I'm not sure what else to say other than good luck in future games. Sorry it didn't work out.

Moving on, I've discovered that I built Siren partially incorrectly. I didn't realize there was an augmented cap to skills. As a result, a lot of her adept points (about a full point, I believe) are giving her no benefit whatsoever currently. When our GM gets back, I'll like permission to tweak the distribution of her adept points. I won't be giving her any dramatic new powers, just re-allocating some Improved Ability points over to abilities that will actually give her some benefit. This won't affect any other rolls that have happened in the game so far. Let me know if this is kosher.

In the meantime, I'll keep an eye on the thread but most likely won't be posting until we get word on how our GM wants to remove Snape's character from the story. I just don't want to complicate things any more than they have to be.

We understood how you were playing it, and we attempted to incorporate you back into the game. You are the one thinking we're all freaking out about something when we are just trying to find a way to get it to work out still.

If you drop out, good luck to ya.

No, see, you guys were freaking out.  I was told by the GM - point blank, no less - to change my post to state I was only outside the restaurant.  Every time I tried to explain why she was doing what she was doing, I was met with you guys telling me I was wrong, or that I needed to change.  I was even told on at least one occasion that I had to ask for permission to do anything.  And in the event you don't believe me, here's the quoted post:

I shouldn't be expected to post "hey, I want to do this" and then wait for permission.

When you're playing as part of a group and a team, yes you should. Going all the way from receiving the comm to leaving, to getting in your bus and leaving its a lot, uncouth does not mean incapable of being on a team. To then get indignant because you were told to allow others time to respond is beyond ridiculous in my opinion.

I get you feel ignored for whatever reason, but ignoring the team -and your GM- is not a solution.

So I've tried to play the character.  I've even been asked why she would be asked to be on this team knowing her quirks, and all I can say is that maybe someone knows she needs to learn how to be a team player.  But at every turn I've been told to change the character.  If I change her, then she's not the character I want to play.

I am playing her personality.  I asked if people wanted to go with her.  I even changed my post - against my better judgement due to it feeling like I was being railroaded by the GM.  And I still feel like I have to defend the character.  Nobody wanted to go with her.  Nobody wanted to include her in the flurry of messages to find out where she was headed or why.  And nobody stopped her from leaving.  She's been ignored; I've been ganged up on.

What other option is there other than me dropping so the game continues without issue?  Are you all willing to live with her personality and let me role-play it?

Then just leave instead of trying to get our pity. We never said to not do it, but to take more time BETWEEN doing things that are major events. And saying that "the exchange doesn't stop her from leaving" is the territory of the gm, and a very large assumption when a character with a 9str has his hand on your shoulder.

Not to mention you have been confrontational to our GM, who is, whether you like it or not, the final law in the game. You can go ahead and contest something, but when your argument ends in "but whatever", you're being disrespectful. You felt ignored and that made your world crash down around you, and you got pissy. That's nothing to do worth the character, that's on you.

I don't know if you really didn't notice my two posts dedicated to contact Needle on the comm (it might be a human mistake as i said in one of my earlier posts) but instead of dwelling on things it would greatly have helped the situation (and on my part it still would help, i can't tell what the others are thinking though) if you answered at least one of them.

To make things clear: i just want to go on with the game. For that, IMO we need to finish this endless quarrel and decide - as a group - how we want to go on. Does anyone have anything against the group composure staying the same? Also, what does our GM say? (Gustovness, please, say something, we need to hear your thoughts on the matter.)

Guys, please respond to this honestly because if we don't solve this i don't see how we can go on with the game.

No need.  I'm out.  For reasons I won't go into here.  But your GM has been informed via PM.

It appears Snape has made up his mind. Like I said earlier, good luck to you in future games. Sorry it didn't work out.

I'm going to refrain from posting in the IC thread until we get some word from Gustovness on how he wants to handle the extraction of Snape's character. I also want his permission on tweaking Siren's adept points. I won't be posting, but I promise I'll still be keeping an eye on the thread. Really looking forward to getting on to it with the rest of you.

I have no problem with Needle being uncouth
I have every problem with Severus Snape acting in an rude manner.

To break down your actions, in a single post your character did:
  • Take the victims commlink
  • Communicate her wishes over payment.
  • Give her commcode to everyone
  • Setup her commlink in to receive other characters commcodes.
  • Walk towards the resturant exit
  • Walk out the resturant and to the carpark
  • Get into your bus and beginning driving away
  • Get into your rigger cocoon
  • Hack an access into the commlink
  • Begin six different data browse searches
  • Read the results of your searches.
  • Begin decrypting any encrypted data

Everyone else had posts that were roughly:
  • Ask one or two questions
  • sit at a table or walk up to a npc

Can you see the difference? We dont do this to make life easy writing posts. We do this to make sure that everyone has an opportunity to contribute to the game. If you had done three separate posts with say (1-5) in one post, 6-9 in another and the last 10-12 there wouldn't have been this issue.

So you can either take the constructive criticism on board and carry on playing or you can cement your reputation on these boards as a Drama Queen. The choice is yours.

So, to put it bluntly, I'm supposed to take public beratings over my choice of character and her actions by multiple people in the game, be forced to change my in-post actions so that nobody else is butt-hurt, ask for permission to do anything, and then ask for seconds....

...or be labeled a drama queen?

I'd rather be labeled the drama queen.  I may have been rude, yes.  And if I have been, then I do apologize (whether or not you accept it, as that's your call).  But I refuse to be railroaded by the GM and ganged up on by the rest of the players.  If that makes me a drama queen, then I'd rather find a different group to play in.

Gorean may have worded it a little harshly, but he's absolutely right. Nobody here takes issue with you playing an Uncouth character*. Nobody here takes issue with the actions your character took. The only thing we're really objecting to is that she took so many actions in a single post without giving other characters time to react (this was, if you recall, the only reason you were asked to retcon your post. Had you simply divided Needle's actions into separate posts and given other players time to react to them this would have been a total non-issue. I'm sorry if this was not clear).

Taking only a few actions per post in order to give your players time to react and respond is a pretty basic rule of play-by-post etiquette, regardless of what system you're using. That is really the only thing we are upset about. I'm sorry if this makes you feel persecuted (again, this is not our intent), but if you really cannot understand that then perhaps it is best if you find another game.

*I know when we first posted characters, I PMed you and advised against Uncouth. I'm sorry if I offended you with my unsolicited build advice; that was not my intent. Just for the record, I really have no issue with you playing an Uncouth character and that is not the issue here.

I want to be very clear with all of you over some things.  First off, the timing of my post is just as important as timing in our game (which you guys will find out why later but back to RL stuff).

It's 2:06pm Eastern Time Monday as of my writing this.  I tried to take a step back and allow tempers to come down over the weekend.  This, unfortunately, was not the case.  I purposefully walked away from the "table" for two days and hoped that things would cool off.  They didn't.  Anyone can have issues.  Each of you has come to me noticing faults in your own character sheets and things of that sort.  Whatever, we work them out, it's not a big deal.  This situation we had with one of our team members last week, however, seemed to be irreconcilable.

I don't want to drag this out.  I don't want to bad mouth anyone.  I've asked Severus to excuse himself from the game as of 10 minutes ago.  I'd like everyone to take this post as the end to this issue.  I haven't even looked at the IC post yet since Friday (currently on lunch and eating /getting caught up on everything OOC has taken up most of it).  As of now, I will take over Needle and I will find a way for her remove herself from the mission as well in as much of and RP way as possible.

Again, Severus is no longer playing and I'm asking everyone to refrain from any bad mouthing, shit talking, or even general references to the OOC aspect of Needle if you can.

I honestly don't have enough time left in my lunch break to read what has happened in IC and move the story along in a genuine manner.  I'm getting off work in about two and a half hours though (late lunches rock) and I'll update the story before I head out to run my errands for the evening.

I'll catch up in a bit.
