Hullo,

Has a book been released that features rival Shadowrun groups? One of the modules I'm currently prepping for my Shadowrun group mentions rival Shadowrunners that might complicate matters for the party, and while I could certainly stat up such a rival group, I'm wondering if the job's already been done for me.

No, sadly.

I'd love to do one, tho!

I would love to see something like this...perhaps even as expansive as the NPC Codex available for PF.

You might check out the Artifact adventures...thought there were a couple of runner teams in there.

The latest Shadowrun Missions adventure, SRM 04-12: Showcase, features a couple of rival Shadowrun teams.  There's also a Shadowrun team in SRM 04-10: Romero & Juliette.  Lastly, there's a special Knight Errant Unit, the Black Knights, that's largely comprised of Shadowrunners who are now working the other side of the law (They're mentioned in Storm Front), and their stats are in SRM 04-05: On a Silver Platter.

(See CanRay, I can pimp too :))

Hey, wouldn't an Ork Pimp need a place to stay when he's not working though? Someplace...safe?

He's got condoms, his Ares Preadator, and his strong pimp hand, how much safer does he need to be?

As an example, my current group ran into a rival 'runner team just last week. They've also negotiated for jobs while some of these other ones were sniffing around similar job leads and will likely square off against one at some point, or, rather, have a tense moment where they're both breaking into the same place at the same time.

Notes are in another room, but off the top of my head:

Team Seven
The best-of-the-best, a SHadowrunning team famous for being professioanl and efficient. They're just about to go corporate and hook up with a corp full-time as Company Men. When they do, that'll leave an opening for the other teams to all move up a step.

Behind the 8-Ball
The name started as a joke, but now they're stuck with it. Pretty much the opposite of Team Seven, they're sloppy, unprofessional, and have miserable luck. Several of their team have broken off and joined other groups, leaving them a shell with neither decker nor magical support. They're down to taking the worst jobs and trying to get by.

The Steel Vixens
An All-Female team, put together for looks more than talent. They record *everythng* and have their own reality show, mostly taking fake jobs set up by their producers but sometimes taking real, if soft, missions. They sometimes scoop members from other teams, if they think that they can fill a marketing niche.Don't think of them as shallow bimbos ... the senior members are pretty ruthless business types. They sell a product, and defend it violently.

KABOOM!!!
What it says on the tin. They're demolitions and distractions experts, hired for monkeywrenching and tailchasing almost exclusively. If you want quiet, then you don't want KABOOM!!! on your side.

The Merry Men
'Hooding-focused 'runners. They do a fair level of pro-bono work, but mostly they work for poor pay to combat things like polluters or racists. Not as skilled or well-paid as many other teams, but beloved and sheltered by the community. "Made Marian" is their leader, a mafioso's daughter who's wealthy enough to put the team up in general.

Blue Screen
A team of all-deckers and combat deckers. Needless to say, they're data specialists.

If you like or think mercs might make for some good opposition, check out Ten Mercs then.

My group pretty much runs solely Shadowrun and GM's always have to wing some parts, so having people ready to challenge the party is a MUST.

To that end, I created what I call "The Mook Sheet". It is a semi-comprehensive collection of NPC's in a quick & dirty format with just enough information to make them fleshed out enough to be believable and challenging.

The original incarnation of this was a small-ish Excel Spreadsheet. However, following the ever growing list of needs I've made it a single page on my website.

Its not 100% complete yet, as it requires a butt-load of work, but follow the link in my signature, click on "GM Resources" then "Mooks" to reach the list.

Literally this gets worked on EVERY DAY. Hope this helps!

I thought Shadowrun was so fun to create characters for, that everyone had a book (or encyclopedia set) of NPC runners made up for every possible case.
