Damn it, Silk, keep your head straight. 4th of July hasn't been a holiday for longer than these people have been alive.
"Still, 'd be nice to have ready just in case. So far this job looks like we'll need a lot more than only a plan A."
She shook her head.

"Anyhow, before we start making plans I'd just like to know how you all are feeling about this gig? I'm pretty good at reading people -if I may say so myself- and if you ask me, the old man seemed legit. But Diego... I'm not saying I know he's lying, in fact, I simply didn't get a real read on him and can't give you any specific reason to distrust him. But it just doesn't add up.
Whatever kind of son he is -my money's on cloned gene-tailored super-son- the first thing these lonely old-money people spoon-feed their heirs is ambition. Besides that, there's only one reason for spoiled rich kids to dive into the shadows: the thrill. That's the kind of motivation that usually only ends with either being killed or coming into your inheritance.  Retiring and settling down to be daddy's lackey, watching him waste your inheritance on altruism just doesn't fit in that picture.
It must've cost quite some money and effort getting all that information he was using to coax us with, but he did it knowing perfectly well that he could've just told a 'runner team the job and leave that kind of work for them to do themselves. He's obviously been checking us out, too, instead of just getting a fixer to assemble a team. And the money, yeah, it pays well enough, how can you possibly resist!"

[Ren]

"Well, the job itself seems pretty straightforward at first sight, triple-A company involved notwithstanding." Gibbon shook his head thoughtfully. "But i can't say i don't agree that something is amiss. And while the old man seemed genuine it could have been a very clever ruse. You know, the one doing the spoon-feeding must have pretty much ambition of his own." He scratched his head, then leaned his chin on his tail. "I usually do the background check on every Johnson but here it would be even more important. The job is personal for the old man, it's almost too obvious why, and here's where Silk hit the spot perfectly: it is strange why the job should be personal to Diego."
"So, while checking the target building is one of the most important events of prep, i suggest we should also check the destination and its surroundings."

[Chrona]

Cheyanne replied a few minutes and a couple Cat Trids later, "The old guy I'm not even sure how he's alive after being in the same room as you, hun... I recognize the blonde though, Diego Silver, he ran a few years back, did some jobs here and there in Seattle, and some abroad. Don't have info on what he did out of the country. He's cybered if you didn't know all ready, got at least an arm, might not be top of the line but it's fast. I hear he used to have one hell of a temper. Never saw him in designer stuff like that back then though... he was a poor kid living with his deadbeat dad."

"I have to agree, checking the destination is important, also giving our client as little notice as possible of when we are making our delivery may help as well, if something is up, neither does having somebody or more, hanging around beforehand at the hand over point, perhaps if the delivery vehicle people took a short break of, I don't know an hour or so..."
as he mulled over the facts in his mind
"..so that should be enough plus some recon, of course we can always leave something there during said recon."

"of course if it isn't breathing, transmitting or leaving anything on the astral, well...
as he turned back to look back at the others

"I don't think even a minute of waiting with the package would benefit us. I'm sure not only the big boxes but the individual wrappings will have tags installed and i'm not sure that the erasers we can get our hands on will be able to erase those in the middle of the box. For that same reason we should have transportation with a faraday-cage or some wireless-inhibiting paint inside."

[Punch]

"You make a good point, we need that time, so any idea where we could source some of this from? or just stick with leaving an emergency surprise at the delivery site?"

[Padawan]

Legion parked the drone back in the same spot the sprite had found to keep it safe until the meeting was over, and then let go of the bond between the drone and his body. When he came to the meeting was already underway, and Gibbon was just starting to speak. Legion shivered at the words "wireless inhibiting", but waited for Cookie to respond.

"We are sorry for being absent so long, we wanted to be sure everything was secure and safe. Did we miss the introductions of what specialty each person has?"

[Xzylvador]

"No, I suppose you didn't. But there is one thing: WE were wondering what all this 'we' stuff is about.", Silk interjected before anyone else could answer.

Legion looked at Silk with a sort of strange gleam in his eyes. "It... is hard to explain. It is all we know, multiple brains connected to each other with no memory of "I". Many drones, their pilots, and various sprites are connected through this bo... uh... me and my brain. We talk to each other and understand. It is like what mages call... telepathy, but a mechanical version. Most call the force I feel 'Resonance', the binding between all technology and all sentient beings, though most do not notice it without aid." Legion then stood up to take a spot on one of the chairs. "We hope that what we said is conveyed in an understandable way."

[Punch]

Cookie turned to look his face displaying a large amount of confusion
"Without aid? that's should be impossible, I thought those stories were just urban legends cooked up as some kind of scare story....

[Ren]

"Data streams are hard to see without being in VR," Gibbon answered to Cookie, "and most people need commlinks, and datajacks or trodes to be that level of connected. But, wow, i never met a technomancer before. Heard stories but those are never accurate. Is every one of your kind so... close with drones? And to those... cosas that you summon like a mage does a spirit?"

[Punch]

"True, it would explain the lack of implants and I don't recall ever seeing him use a commlink either, even when I passed him the commcode for the group chat....."

[Padawan]

Legion turned to Cookie, "We find it funny that in a world of magic, technological advancements are still seen as strange things. It is sort of an irony really, we were here first, but didn't know it until long after. However the Otaku of the decker age are gone, and in their place we stand as Technomancers, the culmination of wireless technology, connected to each other through the Resonance."

Legion answered Gibbon's questions, "No, we, Technomancers that is, are as varied in our abilities as any other hacker or rigger. Some are wiz computer hackers, while others focus their skills on hardware like security doors, and others, like me rig drones. And others among us claim to have found ways to improve their own bodies using the Resonance. Though I have submerged myself in the Resonance many times, that specific talent eludes me. If you mean do other Technomancer riggers, Dronomancers as we typically call ourselves,  refer to themselves as 'we'... Again no, not all of us do, in fact, we believe we are the only ones to do so. As for sprites, we all have varying skill at creating sprites, much like mages vary in ability to summon spirits. But again, we know no other Technomancer who refers to this bond as 'we'."

Legion then looked at each member of the group, "But let me ask you a couple of questions... Where did you grow up? And why did you become a runner?"

The expression of confusion disappeared from Cookies face to return to it's original blank state
"I'd rather not answer those questions fully, I will say that like many people who are runners, I'm not here because I want to be, I'm here because I don't have any other options. I will also add that I'm probably not the only one who feels that way, I understand that maybe difficult to understand, considering the way I suspect you are connected to the technology that we use for everyday communication, as that would make such concerns for privacy rather irrelevant."
