EDIT: Apparently I forgot the date. So just so we're all clear we'll be starting in February 2075, which to my knowledge means the Az-Am war is currently over.

What style of campaign are you looking to run?  I've got a few character concepts ready to go, but it would be good to know what style it is so I can decide which one is best for this game.

For example, I've got a serious combat mage I'd like to play, but depending on campaign style she might not fit.

Also, you might want to put "Recruiting" in the thread title, so people know the game's open.

Who said the game was open? But, I'm down for another player if you're volunteering sir RHat. I'm looking for a casual game, considering "Legendary" dice pools at about 15 in your chosen specialty. I imagine most of the players will have an average of 9-12 dice in their pools. The game will be gritty but somewhat Dark, as that is how I tend to GM.

Sorry, I may have taken the wrong impression  - but all the same, I'm in if you'll have me.

As for Rio, according to the Sixth World Almanac, it's a part of the Metrópole de Amazonia - a sprawl stretching at least from there to San Paulo.  There's a couple notes about how it's governed, but that seems to be about it.  Fairly blank canvas to work with.

As for that combat mage - she does have a 15 for Spellcasting (17 for Combat) in the version I put together a little while ago, but if you want me to tone things down a touch I can downgrade the power focus and use the freed resources to generalize a bit.  Presumably, I'll need to adjust things to fit the game regardless.

I'd prefer we stay away from hacked programs. Further, your character looks fine though I imagine you might want to change some of his knowledge skills to be a little more South America friendly. If you'd like to drop your pools a tad and broaden your focus, it wouldn't be bad. Also I'd like to know the story behind your character as well as the stats.

those are the only critiques I have, which is to say none really.

Backstory Triads;
          A promising engineering student, specializing in new age vehicles ranging from personal vehicles to drones. He graduated with honors and was promptly hired into a security company. Shortly after completeing his initial training in the company it was attacked and burned down. When the attack began the security room was struck first, an incendiary bomb engulfed it in flames. The explosion set the building into a panic, keeping his head clear, he hacked into and logged into the buildings camera security system, before being kicked out of the system by another user, he was able to identify the attackers. They wore Triad colors, realizing his dilema his feet started to make for the nearest exit. Running into a strike team he was promptly shot, the bullet pierced his right eye and he hit the ground hard, darkness enveloped him.
         Awakening, a bright light pierced his left eyelid, with effort he opened his left eye and shifted it at his environment. When it finally focused he noticed it was not a hospital. A nurse arived promptly trying to calm him down but he was struggling. Realizing he could not see out of his right eye, he tried moving his toes and fingers, they all worked... except his right fingers. He then atempted to lift his arms slightly, the nurse was about to inject him with something, As the needle entered his body he noticed no feeling in his right arm, before passing out he managed to turn his head to the right. His eye widenend in terror right as the sedation took effect, his right arm was gone.
        Waking this time on que, a doctor and a well dressed man stood infront of him. The man was holding a portfolio reading it and looking at Jinjing (Tyrium's name). The nurse walked by and glanced at Jinjing as she left his view. The man said "Can you hear me?". Jinjing nodded and the man quickly replied "Good, good." the man looked back down at the portfolio "Normally I would have left everyone dead as we raided that complex". He closed the portfolio "But your skillset and talents... can be of use" He smiled then states "Having saving your life, implanting you with some cyber and bioware". Reopening the portfolio "We replaced your arm, your eye." He laughs slightly. "And some other things." While grinning he states "I expect you to work for me, to pay off this debt, but what pricetag can you really put on a life" He continues "serve me well and perhaps you will have a future, if not well." He looks straight into Jinjing's eyes "I'll blow your fucking head off with the cranial bomb we implanted" He continued harshly "Your old life is over, Jinjing Tao is dead, contact anyone you used to know or try to run" He laughs slightly "Well I think you get the idea."
          This was the birth of Tyrium, but not the death.

Backstory Rio;
         Recently earning his freedom from the Triads, he was banished from Hong-Kong in the process. Tyrium, smuggling as much of his property as he could, decided to make a fresh start. Rio de Janeiro was his desination, far as he knew it was as good a place as any. The cost to transport his belongings was harsh and unreasonable, however he was determined to have a clean new life. Looking for honest work using his skills was hard to come by. Mostly finding the odd freelance jobs in security and some mechanical work, noone would entirely trust someone with seemingly no history in Rio. Perhaps they were right, perhaps he was a fool to try to live... to really live... free.
         As the months passed like days, half a year already passed. Unable to continue paying for the high standards he was accustomed to in the Traids, he panicked. Against his better judgment he took a loan from a shady local named Goril. He gave him the Nuyen with a bright welcome smile, assuring him that as long as his payments were on time, they would have no problem. Payments arrived on time... for a few months... this is when things took a turn for the worse.
         Having to live in his vehicle, like some damn junkie, he often ponders on the terms he agreed to on his loan. They seemed reasonable... but digits on a comm message seem so small when compared to living in Hong-Kong. Soon enough he knew he would have to run the shadows yet again... at least this time he will run them for himself. Right?

Guys, I don't think I will have time to try to apply for this game, but I am lurking the thread since I've always wondered how one would do a game set in Amazonia (former Brazil).

Anyway, just a little correction: The actual spelling of the city's name is Rio de Janeiro.

Right, done some rearranging here.  I like to write my backgrounds up in a good degree of detail, but I'll give you the highlights for now (also, because it's highly relevant to certain details - when will this game be set in relation to the events of Storm Front?):

- Born human in London to an ork and human couple, Goblinized later in life.
- Follows the pan-Celtic goddess the Morrigan, who is sometimes represented as three different figures and is the goddess of war, death, and fertility.
- After she started to come into her Talent, she felt drawn to confrontation and fights.  Eventually, due to a number of incidents combined with a feeling of wanderlust, she decided to sign on with a mercenary company, and tended to request assignments that would allow her to travel.
- Operated in a number of areas around the world before she eventually wound up on Amazonia's side of the Az-Am conflict.  As more of a wild druid, she found a certain accordance with the Amazonian reverence of nature.
- Much of her unit fell in a recent battle against Aztlaner forces (this is part of where it matters where this is in relation to Storm Front, by the by), and she had been injured as well.  After she recovered, she wasn't overly inclined to jump straight back into the mercenary life again, so she decided to try making Amazonia home for a little while - though it's telling that she decided to settle on literally the opposite side of the country from the front lines.

As far as knowledge skills go, what sort of things were you thinking in terms of being more appropriate to the area?  With the addition of Portuguese, she speaks to two most common languages in RL South America, and all three primary languages of Amazonia listed in SWA - so she can at least communicate.  I can certainly still rearrange some stuff there, there's just not much occurring to me as to what sort of knowledges you might be referring to - some kind of block.

Changed her Mentor Spirit to one of the other ones suggested for the Morrigan, as well.
