Hi Folks,

Question about SK and Seattle, so thought that Secret History might be the right place for it.

The Almanac says that SK was going to build their new Seattle office using nanotechnology as of 2069.  Seattle 2072 indicates that SK still has no Seattle presence.

I know that there are references to some reason that Lofwyr hasn't set up shop in Seattle, but they don't appear to be publicly known.

Is it known if SK is going to be building that Seattle office?  SK plays a large role in the game I'm doing for my wife, so curious about if anyone knows.

Thanks!

Well, here's the thing: while I don't know for certain if S-K has 'a building' in Seattle, this doesn't mean they aren't active in Seattle.  This may actually be a mark of Gold Snout's exceptional intelligence; so many major corporations have major presences in Seattle, he uses the city as an intelligence-gathering locale, while denying them a convenient place to sneak someone into HIS back pocket - he can have specialists against each corporation in less-tangled environs, instead of having to defend against everyone all at once in Seattle.

My advice: allow SK to NOT have a Seattle presence, thus making the sprawl a comparatively safe one for your dear one.

I'm sure SK has a presence in Seattle, I was just curious if in canon it was still intended for an "official" presence to happen using nanotechnology.

Thanks for the responses!

Corporate Shadowfiles actually listed both S-K Northwest and S-K Aerospace as being headquartered in Seattle back in the 2050s, but other sources have stated that S-K does not have any directly owned companies in Seattle.

Perhaps they were forced to relocate their real estate? Companies move their mailboxes to different countries all the time as tax dodges, was there any more info into what kinda real estate they owned in 2050 seattle?

Maybe relocated to the Tir after it opened its borders to them?

SK has its North American headquarters in Tir Tairngir, IIRC. They've also purchased some land in the Salish lands, I think, but haven't done anything with it.

God i recall the reason for SK not to have mayor presence in seattle mentioned somewhere. I just cannot remember where and what the reason was.

S-K America had a big ass office tower in downtown Seattle in 2061 during my Year of the Comet campaign, with top secret black ops facilities on the top and bottom levels.

It did not occur to me at the time that that was a break from canon.

As breaks go, its a good one.

It was kinda weird deja vu for me when I read in Seattle 2072 that S-K was building an HQ in Seattle because part of my brain was like..."Hey, they already HAVE that!"

S-K North America's original HQ was in Charlotte, CAS - and apparently the division didn't even exist in the 2050s, according to the Corporate Download - which also states that S-K had "minimal presence" in the Americas, although admitting that meant only known ownership of companies.
New Seattle states that "Technically, Saeder-Krupp has no offices or facilities in Seattle" and then mentions that various local companies are owned under the table.

I think that, unfortunately, the references to S-K Northwest and S-K Aerospace were simply overlooked and forgotten by later sources.

Quote from: Corporate Guide, p. 154
S-k north america
Saeder-Krupp North America is headquartered in Portland, Tir Tairngire, and led by Ludmilla Reanka, under whose direction the division has been thriving. After recently inaugurating the divi-sion’s Seattle office, Reanka began negotiating with other NAN member states and the CAS for new contracts and began initiating joint ventures with local players such as Mesametric, High Plains Coding, and Barrett Firearms Manufacturing. Reanka has also attempted to resume economic relations with the UCAS government, but Damien Knight has used his UCAS government ties (the senators he keeps in Ares’s pocket) to block those efforts.

Seems like Ares is involved for SK lacking major presence in UCAS territory...Seattle included

Lowfyr had a presence in the UCAS in the original Secrets of Power book.  I've forgotten what the company was called though?
