I believe this is mostly roleplay but I'd like to throw in some rolls just for good measure.
Attribute Boost (Strength) 3 + Magic 5 = 8d6.  8d6.hits(5)=4  That maxes Strength at 9.
Breaking restraints; Strength 9. 9d6.hits(5)=3 I imagine that should be enough to snap a seat belt in the old junker.
