Other than tacking my handle on the end of his zweiblumen looks solid.  Just joshing bout the name but it amused me.  Plus if Knives ever finds out about his history with the Mets it should lead to some fun rp. All in all I think he'll work, I glanced over the skills and read the back story.  Distinctive style may prove to be difficult but hell it felt like we all had it in the French ghetto lol.

Ok, I present to you Knives Chapter 4 (5th edition) final version.  I have a feeling that his current nuyen is missing a few deductions but can't be arsed to scourer the OOC for the random deductions here and there. 

@CS:  Just let me know what you think is reasonable to start off with nuyen wise in Chapter 4 and I'll go with that.  Also dunno how you want to handle using the Clerkenwell family as a contact as the books I currently have access (nor the current version of Chummer5) to do not cover the Made Man quality nor do I have the points to cover the kickass contact that the family was in 4th ed.

== Description ==
Knives is a smaller than average human but appears tough and wirey. He is usually seen in his Moritmer of London Greatcoat with a collared shirt and black tie underneath. His hair is cut short and geled to spike up and his deep brown eyes draw people into them.


== Background ==
Knives came into the employ of The Clerkenwell Family at the ripe young age of 19 after his best mate Jimmy signed up and has slowly been climbing up the ladder ever since. His aptitude for knives and sneakery set him apart from the other wiseguys and he was able to secure the position of "Mademan" after only five years of service. Since then Knives has headed up many "protection contracts" on behalf of the Clerkenwell Family as his talents lent well to "collections and enforcement". Thanks to his advancements within the family he was able to afford his own flat on the north side of Brixton.

Description
White orc that wears a dark green long coat with a hood, and sports a black baseball cap and black goggles.


Background
Mantis was born in a small poor neighborhood on the outskirts of Edinburgh, to a single Orc mother, Janic McMullion. At a young age Mantis started training martial arts in order to survive in his rough neighborhood. The master that though Mantis was an expert in Southern Praying Mantis, this is the style that Mantis studied. Not being able to go to school without a SIN Mantis got his schooling from his Mother Janic. At 8 yrs old Mantis had his magical skills awakened well working on a technique to extend his chi abilities in his Southern Praying Mantis style he threw a stun bolt that dropped another student in his small martial arts club. Not having anyone to train him in his magical abilities he started to go into local libraries where he could study, Mantis gained a deep love for magic and the power it gave him. This self-studies continued for 6 yrs  when he was 14 Mantis got his hands on a part time job and was able to buy himself a comm link with his comm link his library visits to learn about magic turned into on line searches for mystical knowledge. At the age of 16 Mantis got into handing out with known Scottish Syndicate members. The hanging around got into doing odd jobs for the Syndicate, as the money started to flow in Mantis began to save his illegally hard earned money. After saving and working for the Syndicate for 5 years (age 21) Mantis was able to go on a spending spree where he got his body pimped out with bio-ware in order to augment his brain and mystical abilities. Now being a full fledge adult Mantis decided to move South to London, still doing odd jobs for the Scot Syndicate to pay rent Mantis met a girl 2 years (Age 23)  after moving to London named Jennifer. The two began dating and when Mantis turned 24 he asked her to marry him. The two were living as nice of a life that a connected man and women without SIN's could live, not a high end living but a nice life none the less, but then when Mantis was 27  tragedy struck, one day Jennifer disappeared, leaving Mantis alone. After talking to the Syndicate's London Fixer that had been supplying Mantis with jobs, the Syndicate did their best to find out what had happened to Jennifer but no leads showed up. After two years now Mantis has decided to no longer to do odd jobs but to go full throttle into Shadowrunning. With his fixer looking for work for Mantis, hope for more mystical power and news on Jennifer lingers in Mantis's enhanced mind.

You got the 10k payment from smith for CH2 and the run on gridguide. iirc you spent it on upgrading your sin and some other kit.
The last part of the job in Paris was to pay off the debt of the safehouse and the rest period at Smith's Mansion so no pay for that aspect.
If you're skint, you'll have to ask the landlord for an extension 'till you can earn the rent :-)
Also, fencing your stolen gear would go some way towards paying the rent, but we'll IC that at the beginning of the new chapter so you'll start off in debt as i did ask if anyone had anything they needed to wrap up once you got back to london

Ok I've modified Mantis to have the skills needed to get his ally spirit. I will have to add his kit and SIN he bought with his nuyen. Also I will have to pay for the ally formula, and pay rent. So I will most likely drop a few gear items here to pay for such things.

Physical Description/Personality:
He has a boyish face with a ruddy complextion and a mop of red hair.  This all sits atop a short 5 foot 7 inch frame that weighs in at a whoping 10 stone.  For all that he's got a charming personality and is quite likable.  After having a pint or two with him the most obvious thing that will stick out is how much of a momma's boy he is.

History/Backstory:
Born and raised in the sprawl outside of Manchester in Ashton-under-Lyne.  His father, Paul, worked for a smaller corp as a mid level wage-slave.  He devoted his life to the corporation which let them live a reasonably comfortable if modest life.  Taylor was an only child, and his mother, Judy, was able to stay home and raise him.  He grew up adoring his mother and was known as quite a momma’s boy.  As a child he excelled in all things computer.  He was wiz with a comm and could get around the ‘trix like he was born there.  This made him lots of friends at school, but they still picked on him for being such a mamma’s boy, often calling him “Mams.”  Gear on the otherhand was his undoing, and his father had to keep him away from the important equipment in the house like the autocook and the one time he tried to tinker with the family car.

As he got older, Taylor became interested Law Enforcement.  He became obsessed with old police trids and stories along with the Victorian era in general.  As a teenager he started going to history festivals and events.  It started to get a bit odd when he started wearing the costumes all the time.  But, his mother approved and that was all he needed!

The hardest decsion of his life was to go to London to train with the Metropolitan Police.  18 months into his training, he was homesick and becoming more and more disillusioned with the way the police actually worked.  They were mostly underpaid/overworked corporate shills.  They kept the poor poor and the rich rich.  On top of this, he started having odd visions, seeing AROs when he wasn’t wearing his glasses, being able to read articles and review documents without his comm.  He realized that he was awakening as a technomancer, and this was struck home when he accidently compiled his first sprite.  With his general malaise, he decided to keep this to himself instead of reporting it as he knew he should.  One of the few shining lights was Amber.  She’s a bartender at the Walking Stick, a bar near the academy that he frequented often.  They became friends as he didn’t have any local friends and while he got along with a few of the other recruits, his choice in clothing when not at the academy struck them as a little too odd.  Luckily, Amber thought it was wiz.  It’s pretty obvious that Taylor has a crush on Amber, and while not necisarilly recipricating, she doesn’t seem to mind his flirtations.  His only other friend from the academy was Ralph Timms.  He was Taylor's bunkmate in the barracks and would constantly make fun of Taylor for his clothes out of uniform.  Those were always in good nature though, and Ralphy got along famously with Taylor.  He was amused at how well Taylor could play the straight man while wearing such an odd getup.  They made a great comedy troupe.

3 months later his father got sick.  Really sick.  And at 65, he wasn’t exactly a spring chicken.  The company decided that taking care of him would be more expensive than it was worth, and laid him off.  His father was heartbroken.  Taylor was sure he would have survived being sick, but being abandoned by the company he gave his whole life to was more than he could take.  He died less than 48 hours after recieving the news.  This left his mother alone and pennyless.  Taylor became enraged, and foreswore everything the corps stood for.  Amber knew someone that could help.  She introduced him to ‘Fingers’ Malloy, called so for his reputation for having his fingers in a bit of every business.  Fingers was able to get him a few jobs to start, but the biggest thing he did was further the chain and introduce him to Mr. Smith.

Mr. Smith, it turns out had been keeping an eye on Taylor through his connection in the academy and had seen quite a bit of potential in him.  Hearing about how he seemed to move through the Matrix more easily than others.  Mr. Smith ended up recruiting him to start doing network security for some of his operatives by offering to move his mother to London for him and set him up with a nice place they could both live.  Taylor had a lot of doubts, but when Mr. Smith showed him what his first paycheck would be for a job and knowning his mother had no other options, he jumped on the oportunity.

It’s now three years later and Taylor has been working for Mr. Smith quite succesfully.  It has allowed him to take care of his Mam while indulging in his eccentricity and uniqe style.  And what with *still* being such a momma’s boy, the name calling has never gone away.  Folks think they are making fun of him by calling him “Mams,” but he just wears it as a homage to her.  Life is actually pretty good for him now.  And while his work with Mr. Smith isn’t well publicized, the work he does on the side for Fingers has started drawing more attention amongst the shadows.  He's still got a thing for Amber, and Ralphy won't let him live that down.  When business does call him away, he knows that Amber and Constible Malloy will still look after his mother while he's gone.  He’s always interested in jobs that allow him to stick it to the corps.

@Csjarrat: Couple of questions.  1. What is your view on the armor penalty for First Aid when the medkit is part of the armor and using on yourself? 2. Mams is gonna want to compile a couple of sprites.  Want me to roll for that now?

Sounds more like the realm of an autoinjector to me mate, medkit in armour I'd say would need to be in powered armour like milspec, otherwise it'd be set up on it like a paramedics equipment.

Yes please mate, sprites and stun recovery rolls if needed.

Hrm, guess we need to change my Steampunk then and move the Medkit to gear instead of integrated into the armor.  It's by no means canon, but I use HeroLab to build my armor out.  In there it's listed as 5 capacity modification.  *shrug* No worries, can he have that as a backpack rather than a briefcase type item?  And gremlins apply! (scary)

Compiling Level 6 Machine Sprite (Resonance 6 + Compiling 6 + Specialization 2 = 14): 14d6t5 5
Machine Sprite resist compilation (level 6 = 6): 6d6t5 2 3 Tasks
Soaking Compliation Fade 4dv (Resonance 6 + Will 5 = 11): 11d6t5 3 1 box of Stun
Registering Machine Sprite Level 6 (Res 6 + Comp 6 + Spec 2 = 14): 14d6t5 4
Sprite resist Registering (level 6 = 12): 12d6t5 6
Edge to re-roll misses for registering (10): 10d6t5 5 9 total (limit 6)

Dunno how ties go in registering, or how attempting to register a second time works... but this is gonna hurt with 12 hits on the resist :(  12 dv of stun to soak.
Soaking Registration Fade 12dv (Resonance 6 + Will 5 = 11): 11d6t5 3 Ouch, 9 more stun.

First Aid for Fading damage (Log 6 + FA 1 + MedKit 6 = 13): 13d6t5 6 down to 4 boxes of stun.
If the registration succeeds, then after the first aid he'll have dinner with his Mum and hit the sack.  If it fails, he'll dismiss the sprite and be grumpy at dinner with his mum.  Then go to sleep.

I'll roll for the second day once I know if I've got a Machine sprite.  That's the most important one for him as he's actaully a pretty good hacker.

Yeah, it's fine to have one set up on armour, just would be a bit difficult to attach all the pads, injection gear, diagnostic kit through a jacket etc. Full powered armour seems to fit that better as it's a super tight fit and full body seal. Autoinjector with trauma patches loaded fits better for me, especially linked up to a built in biomonitor. Going off bullets and Bandages, R4 medkit are big backpack sized equipment

you took 1 stun, and then 9 more. i assume you've got 11+ stun boxes because of high willpower? otherwise you're knocked out?
also, you'd need to apply wound modifiers for that first aid roll and your skill limits your boxes healed to 1.
Do you want to re-roll it for me as medkit in autodoc mode instead?
it'd be rating x2 as the dicepool with a limit of 6

I was stacking the rating with the skill per the discussion here. If there's no point in having less than a four rating in first aid I'll spend that point elsewhere and have it use its 12 dice. Totally forgot to subtract 3 dice four wounds. And yes I've 11 stun monitors with a will of 5.

Lemme know if you want me to subtract the last three dice or re-roll. Three dice is a lot and highly increases my gremlins chance so I'm cool with re-rolling and risking the glitch.
