So in sr5e, have the done anything to make cyberadepts less awesome? I see creating one is trickier but possible.

You need to expose yourself to attacks from the Matrix AND possession from the deep metaplane of ohshit if you want cyber and magic to cooperate? :D

Well I dont see anyone playing adepts in a game that lets in mistake adepts.  So cyber mistakes instead of cyber adepts will probably still be an issue. Improved reflexes is still as expensive as it was so unless synaptic boosters now cost more essence cyber/magic is still better there and I'll wait and see on attributes for adepts but if its still .2 for bioware will always be the go to if magic costs more than .25.

Mistake adepts?  Cyber mistakes?  Are these typos/errors or are you using word play I just don't recognize?
Remember, you don't have to kill the vehicle to stop it, just kill the guy driving it.

Replace mistake with mystic and it makes more sense.

Yeah sorry an old basic D&D joke got the opportunity to resurface(mystics were the monks of basic D&D), we and many other tables called them mistakes.  Though oddly I liked the monk in 1e.  But no one has yet to give a reason why anyone would play an adept over a mystic adept outside of roleplaying, full magic and full power points for 12 karma out of 50 and 4 attribute points due to priority rejiggering is a bit absurd.

I think...  I hope that the "2 Karma" is a typo and gets Errata'd fast.

For the record, I played a cyberadept at Origins.

Bioware still 'costs' less for certain things than Power Points. Synaptic Accelerators for one - 1 Essence for rating 2 as opposed to 2.5 Power Points of Improved Reflexes. It's just bloody expensive - 190000 nuyen.

However, 5E has a new kind of focus called a Qi Focus. It's more or less Adept Power in a Can. Each focus can hold an Adept Power, and can be used by any Adept that binds it. An Improved Reflexes 2 Qi Focus would be Rating 10 (four times the normal Power Point cost), 20 Karma to bind, and cost 30000 nuyen. Not obtainable at chargen, but certainly later on, if you can manage to overcome the 30R availability.

No, itīs not - the example character in #3 preview is a mystic adept and both the example character and the character creation rules are saying "2 karma / power point for mystic adepts". Otherwise the entire character creation chapter would be buggy and I am quite sure that this would have not passed CGL quality control.

Hmm. Well, with the changes to the initiative system, I guess that it isn't quite so bad to wait to get initiative boosters, but you'll still be hurting. But those Qi Focuses could be damn useful for allowing your adept to 'dual-spec' as both Fighter and a Face, or so on. Kinesics, Mystic Armor, Combat Sense, and Killing Hands would all fit much nicer in those Qi foci, and maybe would be available at chargen (and for less nuyen)? Rather than holding out for putting the uber-expensive stuff in them, it sounds like they'd be great for all those little powers you would love to have to round out a character, but just don't have the points for.

If the limit at chargen is 12R, then at chargen we're talking the following available:
0.25PP = Rating 1, 3R, 2 karma, 3k nuyen.
0.5PP = Rating 2, 6R, 4 karma, 6k nuyen.
0.75PP = Rating 3, 9R, 6 karma, 9k nuyen.
1PP = Rating 4, 12R, 8 karma, 12k nuyen.

If your character has Logic 3, that means (assuming unchanged rules) you can have 3 of these active at the same time. I'd go for 1-PP ones myself. Also, go for non-upgradable ones or powers you don't intend to upgrade ever. If you're all "yeah you know what, at 9 Strength I'm fine with Critical Strike 4 forever", that's a nice choice. Of course if you go for the weaker powers, your problem is that you aren't using your Magic*5 in Rating, unless you add Weapon Foci or got a good Logic. After all, with 6 Magic you can take 7.5PP max. That's 60 karma and 90k nuyen.

Or, you can spread yourself wide. Take a lot of small ones that you don't need more than 3 active of at the same time. =)
