Fantastic. Just me then... Could really do with my manservant now! Time to dig out the college books then boyo.
Miko, while you're up there, check that dead maintenance worker for keys, cards, codes. Anything that might be useful.
Matt takes a good look at the service panel and door, looking for a way to convince it to open.
int 3, percep 4, co processor 2, active 3, -1 wound (11d6.hits(5)=4)
knowledge test if needed:log 3, civil engineering 5, -1 wound (7d6.hits(5)=2)

I've got a garage well away from my apartment. It'll be registered to my SiN though so I would think they'll be aware of it. I need to clear that out after this, got a stack of drones in there I don't want to lose, one in particular would be very handy if they come looking for us.

--Matt--
The door was a heavy security model, manufactured for withstanding lots of pressure. It had complex locking mechanisms, but as you checked those, it seemed they were already open. Only a single maglock held the door closed, and by removing the panel, you had the opportunity to disengage it. Forcing the door, however, would still be hard, despite only one lock engaged, the weight of it would take the brunt of the attempt, and the hydraulics working on opening and closing it would also make forcing the door more difficult.
Disengaging the lock takes a LOG + Hardware (3) test. Threshold is dynamic, so partial success is possible.
As you thought about the situation, you suddenly remembered that you only left the Dobberman at home, and maybe the manservant, but you weren’t sure about the latter. The others were in the trunk of the Shin-Hyung… wherever the car was. It was really hard to remember anything you have done in the morning, things were hazy at best. But you were suddenly sure that most of your drones, as well as the car, were not at the garage at the moment.

--Leroy--
You were sure that Cuco would be willing to take you in, your bond went back some time. You weren’t so sure, however, that he would be willing to risk his neck for the others. And as you gave it some thought, it might be possible that some legwork could lead people to him, you weren’t exactly making your friendship a secret. At least a dozen people at the bar knew.

--Joel--
Keeping yourself open that way had its drawbacks. Some of the stronger half-beings from the upper levels must have sensed your presence, and began to gather near you. They weren’t overwhelming, but they tried to reach towards you, to attach to your live emotions. Alone, they were even less powerful than a watcher spirit, but you sensed that in large groups, they could even wear down a strong mage such as yourself.
The spirits try to attach to you: MAG(1) + WIL(1) + Domain(1) + Multiple spirits(2) (5d6.hits(5)=1)
Please roll WIL + Counterspelling opposed test.
--Miko--
You could tell that forcing the door wouldn’t be an easy job. You saw a security door or two in your life, and this seemed to be planned to resist big forces.
Standing guard over Matt, next to Joel, you got a really unpleasant feeling. You felt dirty, more so than any time in the past month. The feeling welled up in you suddenly, and you can’t explain its presence.

WIL (5) + Counterspelling (2) - Wounds (1) (6d6.hits(5)=0)

Joel's eyes widened as the spirits attached to him en masse. What the... Get off! Off! His attempts to mentally bat them off him proved futile, and the attachments gave him a feeling of being unclean. Tainted. He resisted the urge to gag and shuddered at the sensation. Oh drek... This can't be good. What the heck are these things going to do? He quickly began recounting in his head what he knew about denizens of the Astral plane.

Miko shivered as she went to the guard and quickly checked his pockets and commlink for anything that might be used to open the door.  The faster they were out of here, the better it would be.

perception test.
intuition 4 + perception 3 =7 (7d6.hits(5)=2)
forgot the actively looking (I guess it applies here.
actively looking =3 (3d6.hits(5)=2)

so that's 4 hits in total.

You didn't need to think too much about what these half-being were capable of. One of them started to feed on your emotions, and while doing so, it fed you back its own essence. Fear, anxiety, unease, panic - all began to recede slowly, and you started to feel emptiness. A craving started to form in the back of your thoughts, and you were not sure what it was, but an ominous feeling of threat seeped through you.
And as you felt this, you knew, the longer you stayed active in the astral world, the more of these beings would be attracted to you. In this state your emotions were much stronger, and they could sense it from much farther away. You had to do something, before whatever this was, consumed you.
If you want to finish astral perception, roll a Composure (1) test, with a -1 modifier in addition to any others. If you want to do something else, feel free to do it.
--Miko--
The ork was no guard, that you could tell with the first glance. She carried no weapons, and her jumpsuit wasn't armored at all. For you, turning her around to pat down all possible pockets was not hard, physically at least. But her stronger frame and her tougher build made you think involuntarily, that the roles could have been changed too easily.
Her pockets hid minimal value. Her comm was broken, she probably crashed it while falling down the stairs, but the flickering screen contained some partial data, which might be usful for opening the gate. She had a few tools on her, not a full kit, just some key pieces. You also found a credstick in one of the inner pockets, and a picture of her and a male ork, grinning wildly into the camera while embracing each other, in front of the Statue of Liberty, probably on a boat.

"Can you do something with this," Jade said to Matt as she him the comm.  Then she went back to her post at the door and checked the amount on the credstick.  If she was going to be an outlaw, she would need money, even if it wasn't much.  And she wanted to get out of here.  Her eyes flicked from the body to the door and back to the group trying to open the door.  The faster they were out of here, the better.  Then at least they could start finding out who had done it and get some payback.

Matt looks up from the control panel at Miko as she arrives with the roughed-up comm.
Sure thing, this from the Ork lady?
Matt gives it the once over. Noticing the flickering screen, he slaves it's display to his image link so he can better view its contents
do you want me to roll some analyze/browse tests here? shall I slave it to my comm so i can view stuff that way?

Flipping through the data on his imagelink, he found some wiring diagrams that helped explain some of the pressure door's circuitry.
Armed with the fresh knowledge and some more tools, Matt sets about making a start on the lock.
Don't fuck this up Matty boy...Don't fuck this up
log 3, hardware 2, edg 1, -1 wound (5d6.hitsopen(5,6)=2) used last point of edge!

The credstick held 150 nujen. Not too much, but the ork certainly didn't need it anymore.

--Matt--
The partial data contained some indicators that you could use, even if they didn't solve your problem.
The data reduces the threshold for opening the lock by 1.
From the threshold of the door, Leroy eyeballed Miko.

"Matt might take a minute, want me to take a look at your wounds?"

Joel frowned slightly as he felt the emotional feedback. The odd craving. The emptiness. Mildly disturbed by the emotions being fed into him, he began to try and  pull his aura back into the physical world. Got to get out of this hellhole, and fast...

Matt grabs the heavy steel door and tries to shift its weight
Guys, door is open, give me a hand would you? Someone make sure there are no "unpleasant" surprises on the other side too!

"I'm good," Jade said as she lumbered over to where Matt was struggling with the door, "keep it for when it's really needed.  Okay, you can open it.  The sooner we're out her the better."
The last was added for Matt when she was standing ready with her warhawk pointed at the door.  If something was at the other side, it would regret this quickly and terminally.

Matt looked at his work with satisfaction. True, the maglock wasn’t the most complicated he’s ever seen, but with limited resources, this was a fine accomplishment. He let Leroy go and open the door, which was an easy task, because the hydraulics still worked. The door opened inwards, almost silently.

Miko watched out for whatever was waiting on the other side. His revolver held level, his senses sharp. And it wasn’t for nothing. As the door opened, you glanced movement. It seemed a man stood guard there. He was slowly turning towards you. He wore a full body armor, with a packed combat harness over that, helmet on. In his hands, he held an assault rifle, although not at the ready, the muzzle pointed at the ground. And his attire was completed by a badge and other indicators stating he was Knight Errant. The name plate said his name was Sgt. Kaepernich.

The man was either an amateur or he didn’t expect trouble from the inside. His words suggested the latter. ”Hoi, hombre, I didn’t expect you to come back so soon…” He gets to this point before he finishes turning around, and notices you probably aren’t the ones he was expecting.
