Cyberlimbs cannot hold any bioware, nor any cyber-implants that take up Essence rather than Capacity.

I apparently didn't pay enough attention to SR4, because I missed the part over essence-costing cyberware until I read it in SR5. I always thought you could have a cyber head with a cyber tongue, cyber voice, cyber nose, cyber eyes and cyber ears.

SR4 at least allows a few of those. (though not all at once) Aside from completing the cyberlimb set, is there actually a point to having a cyberskull? Even the torso has lost it's rule-defined importance as the "frame" for your super-strong cyberlimbs to attach to, and is just extra capacity with reduced cyberware / no bioware choices. Am I missing anything besides cyber armour?

You can, cyber skull is nothing but a shell, you still have your natural eyes, ears etc. and as such can replace them with a cyber version.

For when you need to average the limb attributes.

I was surprised datajacks didnt have a capacity anymore, but with everything being wireless now I guess you only need one anyway. So .1 essence isnt that big a deal.

But now Im wondering if you necessarily need a datajack at all if you have ware with DNI, like an arm or eyes...

That makes for a logical and common sense house rule, Mäx. It doesn't help the fact that torsos / skulls are not given any explicit exemption from cyberlimb rules.

Actually, that's not a house rule, it's the official fluff:

Cyberskulls and –torsos are included in the “cyberlimbs” category, though they are in fact shells rather than full replacements (or actual limbs).

Why would they really need to, none of those thinks really get installed to the shell that is the cyberskull, they just take the place of the originals.
Heck thats the reason why you can't install them with capacity in the first place.

Consider this, then.

Can I specifically read, from the fluff or rules, that a cyber skull or cyber torso does not conform to the quoted section at the top of this thread? What indicates one should stop using any given rules for cyberlimbs? Do I have to extrapolate that some rules apply, while others don't?
